Totally agree. I have a 2017 250 EXC-F and ride with all 2 strokes (i am the only 4 stroke). I go everywhere they go. This bike is enduro based but comes with lights and such. Very lightweight bike. I have loved mine and it is great. I also feel like the maintenance is nothing more than people being lazy. I seriously have no issues with mine. Regular oil, clean air filter, tires. The bike really is bomb proof. Even the pegs and such last through hell (while other bikes have pegs and other crap breaking on the first fall).
My son had a 250 xcf-w (4-stroke) and sold it to get a 16 300xc. He had more fun on the 300 but admitted he was faster on the 250. It was a great bike.
I just purchased a 2024 excf350. Will get a better ecu and open up the exhaust. I just hate loud pipes. The fmf on my Yamaha wr250r Is too loud, and it is a q4.
I have the 2020 KTM 350exc f (uncorked) and I sold my KTM 250 xc 2 stroke and absolutely love my 350exc f . It has been redesigned from the year you have and feels So much like a two stroke. I still have a KTM 200 two stroke and enjoy it but the 350 excf is amazing!
Dude, it is an awesome bike! The 300 is also awesome. Keep the 350, and buy a used 300. Buy an 18 or earlier. The carb 300 is better! I have an 18 500 exc, and an 18 300 xcw. Won't let either one go. Love them both! Must have both.
Our riding group went from 300s to 350s . At one time it was rare to have a 4 stroke with us. Now it’s made up of 4 strokes. I find the 350 walks up the harder trails, while the 300s fight to get traction

I’ve had my 2017 fe350 from new. It has over 10,000 miles on it.. all I’ve ever done to the bike is change oil and filter every other ride. It’s also had two valve shims. Still runs really good but will be doing a full rebuild over the Christmas period .
I have an EXCF500 and a 300XC and they do different things for me. The 500 is built out for moto travel and adventure but honestly still single tracks pretty damned good.

I ride my T7 on some pretty gnarly single track. It’s a lot of work, but I find it way more fun to ride than my dirtbike. I’m tentatively in the market for a fe350s as well, but that’s more me being a bike hoarder than anything.
KTM350 is a great all around bike.300 is more focused for the serious hard enduro type of riding,Sounds like your ready for the harder trails.Rocks and boulders will be your new best friends.It will be a blast.Have fun!

I started out on a '08 CRF250R, found out a motocross bike isn't suited for trails lol. I recently picked up a low hour '18 150 XCW which is a great bike for the Pennsylvania trails but a recent change in roles in my job has me searching for a plated bike to ride more often.
Love my 2024 350 EXC-F, nimble, plenty of power. easily doing 70 on the asphalt. Not sure what top speed is but 70 is the max i need at times. You will get snow blindness trying to figure out what tire to use. I think i am going to go with Tubliss + Tusk Waypoint. No tire is good at everything, so i think ability to air down will be more impotant. GET ecu/De Smog and Taco Moto site are my favorites. Maybe one day i will regret it but today is not that day :)
How’s the 2t? I’m right now between a 23 350xcf, or 300xc tbi. First dirtbike, but I’ve rode plenty of track with street bikes. Considered a smaller bike, but 6’2 210, I think I can grow into a 350. What I don’t know is the maintenance between the two, is one more challenging or more of a headache? II’m under the impression the 350 requires less engine work overtime if properly cared for…. Also, not sure about premix and what’s comes with that, like fouled plugs, and if that’s even something to consider. I believe both bikes are identical with suspension and components, just the engine is different, and for 23 they have repositioned the engine, so they feel lighter.
Really appreciate the review of the bike! I found a used 2018 350 EXC-F (I think it's the same as yours) - have yet to see it in person. It has 3640 miles, 192 hrs, mostly on trails. I was told the cylinder and piston was changed after 40hrs, under warranty. The owner says he had all the break in and regular maintenance done. He's asking Can$7800, roughly USD6135. I am new to off-road on a motorbike, but eager to learn (and it's difficult at the moment to buy new). From what I understand the top-end might need to be changed soon given the numbers of hours the bike has under its belt. What do you think?
It's crazy that I see your video now because I currently have a 18 250 EXC-F (first bike ever) and I'm looking to buy a 2-stroke too to own something more light so that I can learn even more. Since I never drove a 2-stroke and I'm a small girl, I thought of going with a small KX 100 to learn the basics and if I like it I would like to buy a XC-W just like you!

It didn't, but the husky fe350 did which is interesting. I have boiled over a couple of times while clutching at low speeds and not getting any air flow, but it's pretty rare that happens in my case. -Alex
Your assessment is spot on, I run a 450 EXC uncorked and all I know is anyone riding a DRZ or similar is nuts. Listening to you talk sounds like you should keep it . I go everywhere and do everything with my 450, just phucking fast and fun, no problem blazing down the interstate,,,, even on one wheel some times. People need to understand maintenance isnt an issue, I actually like working on my bikes.

Thanks for the video. I completely agree. It helped me confirm a similar decision. I had WR250R to learn and “adventure” on. Discovered really like single track. KTM 350 was huge boost on single track plus still can ride out my garage to trails. Now want the 300 TPI to see if I can ride harder trails with less stalls, more tractable power and lighter feel. Not sure I would sell 350 though.
@@touge4629 it really depends on how many higher speed highway miles you need to do or want to do. If you want to ride to work. The WR250R is a better bike for that. It would be better to have the Ktm 350excf and the wr 250r OR the WR250R and a KTM 300XCW Tpi. Trust me ive also owned and rode them all. The ktm 350 is not good for the highway,you would want the 500exc for that, it has a different transmission for higher speed driving at less RPMs. But then it's even bigger than a 350 and defeats the purpose. Thats why I say keepmthe WRR if you can because its a great bike to take out after work or on the weekend for a quick highway run to the trails amd back and not absolutely dread driving on the street. That is literally the only downside to the 350exc's.. i really wish 6th gear was taller for highway cruising. I have a WRR, 350exc, and a ktm 200xcw (2stroke). Best three bikes in those categories in my opinion. Would also consider a 250/300xcw to get a bigger engine and the TPI.

I have a 2023 450exc and my bud has a 2024 300, I personally could never ride a bike with no engine braking and having to rebuild every 150 hours. I get the lure of saving a few pounds but for myself a 4 stroke is superior in every way, the main being engine braking.
Thank man. I had the 2015, and I agree with everything you said. I do about 70% road 30% trails, and mine did not do well on the road. The front end would start to shake at 45 mph. Some people have told me I could have tuned that out, but I'm not great at suspension tuning. I'm on a CRF300L now, and it's a little piggy compared to my KTM. I want to see what you think about the 2 stroke. I need something better.
I saw a plated gasgas ec300 on the Bend Craigslist a week or so ago and a lot of guys with plates on their KTMs and husky TPI bikes. I haven’t looked into it but I think u could plate ur new bike in Oregon if u add blinkers horn, bright switch.
You can’t. Titles in dirt bikes sold in Oregon are labeled as off road vehicles. Only way to get a new non street legal bike plated in OR is to buy it out of state and hope the title comes labeled as an MC. Even then the vin might get ya. Previously platted bike brought in from out of state have been known to be denied plates when it comes time to register again
I have a 18 ktm excf 350 I love it. I ride the streets of Chicago wish I lived near nature so I could ride in dirt. The pedestrians of Chicago Love the 350 too 😁
I have this bike and it does occupy a weird space and I agree with why you're buying a 2 stroke. I had moved from a crf230 to this bike, knowing that I wanted to continue riding on the trail but also wanted something that I could take on the road. I do occasionally take it to work, which is not a long commute and it is actually pretty fun on a short trip like that. But all of the trails I ride are a bit far from where I live and I just end up trucking the bike most of the time. I compared to my friends 2 strokes which are so much lighter which also has me considering just switching to a 2 stroke and buying a cheap street bike for in town.
Finally a vid! I ended up doing the same thing. Had the 350 ktm plated bike and went to the 2021 ktm 300. King of single track! I’m looking forward to seeing the reviews on the new bike.
It's funny how the plate, signals etc fool even the people who buy these bikes. The EXC-F is not different (in any perceivable) way to the XC-F other than the 5 lbs of road stuff they have to put on it yet people go on and on about "if you need a plated bike then it's a great option". No, it's a great option if you want a trail bike regardless of the road crap on it. For me, I'd get the EXC-F and take the stuff off you don't want but at least then you have the road legal option if you ever need it. Also, I get the whole 2 stroke thing, but the difference (at least among the KTM/Huky line up) is so small it's almost not worth talking about and certainly not worth switching bikes over, but it certainly makes a great excuse to get a new bike! Unless you are one of the tiny percentage of trail riders who really are at the expert level. Otherwise they are basically going to give you the same results. I truly believe almost all of this sort of deabte (if you even want to call it that) is psychological. We think the 2 stroke are so much lighter/nimble or whatever so that is what we feel. Don't get me wrong, there is a difference of course, I'm just saying for the vast majority of riders that difference is really not going to help/hurt them in their trail riding in any meaningful way. You can't go wrong with either option. Both are going to provide awesome trail/off road results.
Thanks for commenting! I agree with you in many ways, but personally, I'd say the differences in riding the 2-stroke vs the 4-stroke is hugely noticeable. Am I a *better* rider with the 2-stroke? Definitely not. I'd argue that I was more skilled on my 4-stroke in many ways, but the feel of the 2-stroke is, FOR ME, so much more fun. It has much more of a mountain-bike feel, especially in corners - it doesn't want to just stand up when throttling out like my 4 stroke did. It feels 50 lbs lighter than my 4 stroke. I'd say it was definitely worth switching bikes for me as the 2-stroke caters more towards the riding that I enjoy. - Alex
XCF vs EXC-F is a big difference! 5 lbs is the least of it. Different gearing, different mapping, different CAM and timing, different suspension! XCFs are way more aggressive and powerful!
It’s weird isn’t it how different people find different things. I’ve been riding enduro in UK for 7 months. I started on a Husky TE150i. Loved it but really REALLY struggled with any muddy hills. I was getting really pissed off with not being able to get up them. It also wants to be on the pipe constantly which in woods can be a little scary if you hit a bump wrong. I switched to an FE250 Husky. I’ve improved more in two rides on that bike than I did over weeks on my 150. I’m more confident on it. It goes up hills. It does feel a little heavier that’s for sure but that’s not hard over a 150 as they’re light, I can’t say the nimbleness thing has proven an issue in single track. I do miss the 150s super light nimble feeling but then I don’t miss accidentally hitting the pipe over small whoops in the woods and ending up in a tree 😂. And I’m dropping my 250 less. I’ve lost good things by getting rid of the 150 which is sad but I feel I’ve gained far more. I actually enjoy my 250F more and feel I’m learning faster now. Can’t say I find the lack of a power band snap more boring personally. I like the smooth power and sound a bit more of the 250F. Horses for courses. It does get hotter for sure going slow but it coped really well in a rocky river bed section. No worse than my 150. I can see it def would be at a disadvantage going over big rocks, large logs or anything hard enduro wise or slow for extended periods. No contest there, but then the 150 with its missing low end isn’t the best at that either you’d want a 300. I prefer more cross country style stuff at the moment so it’ll do well for now.
250f for noobie and all around riding, 250 2T if you want to ride more technical terrain. Most people do not need bigger bikes it just tires them out and you can’t ride them to their potential. I’ve been downsizing the last few years and having way more fun doing it. 😉

I just switched from my 2021 300tpi to a new 350excf,I remapped it and full exhaust on it!! I'll never look back at the tpi,I love the new 350F

Idk man there's a guy riding a T7 at the Red bull Romaniacs Enduro competition today. He's flying and throwing it around like it's a KTM.

had a 2001 ktm 250sx as a teenager....i just picked up a 2021 KTM 690 enduro and love it but there is absolutely nothing like a two stroke

The shake is just a tire balance issue. Easy fix.

No, it's a great option if you want a trail bike regardless of the road crap on it. For me, I'd get the EXC-F and take the stuff off you don't want but at least then you have the road legal option if you ever need it.
Also, I get the whole 2 stroke thing, but the difference (at least among the KTM/Huky line up) is so small it's almost not worth talking about and certainly not worth switching bikes over, but it certainly makes a great excuse to get a new bike! Unless you are one of the tiny percentage of trail riders who really are at the expert level. Otherwise they are basically going to give you the same results. I truly believe almost all of this sort of deabte (if you even want to call it that) is psychological. We think the 2 stroke are so much lighter/nimble or whatever so that is what we feel. Don't get me wrong, there is a difference of course, I'm just saying for the vast majority of riders that difference is really not going to help/hurt them in their trail riding in any meaningful way. You can't go wrong with either option. Both are going to provide awesome trail/off road results.
Thanks for commenting! I agree with you in many ways, but personally, I'd say the differences in riding the 2-stroke vs the 4-stroke is hugely noticeable. Am I a *better* rider with the 2-stroke? Definitely not. I'd argue that I was more skilled on my 4-stroke in many ways, but the feel of the 2-stroke is, FOR ME, so much more fun. It has much more of a mountain-bike feel, especially in corners - it doesn't want to just stand up when throttling out like my 4 stroke did. It feels 50 lbs lighter than my 4 stroke. I'd say it was definitely worth switching bikes for me as the 2-stroke caters more towards the riding that I enjoy. - Alex
I had way more fun in the NW OR woods with my 200 EXC 2 stroke than my 450. I was a better rider on it. Central OR/WA deserts flipped the script.
XCF vs EXC-F is a big difference! 5 lbs is the least of it. Different gearing, different mapping, different CAM and timing, different suspension! XCFs are way more aggressive and powerful!
It’s weird isn’t it how different people find different things. I’ve been riding enduro in UK for 7 months. I started on a Husky TE150i. Loved it but really REALLY struggled with any muddy hills. I was getting really pissed off with not being able to get up them. It also wants to be on the pipe constantly which in woods can be a little scary if you hit a bump wrong. I switched to an FE250 Husky. I’ve improved more in two rides on that bike than I did over weeks on my 150. I’m more confident on it. It goes up hills. It does feel a little heavier that’s for sure but that’s not hard over a 150 as they’re light, I can’t say the nimbleness thing has proven an issue in single track. I do miss the 150s super light nimble feeling but then I don’t miss accidentally hitting the pipe over small whoops in the woods and ending up in a tree 😂. And I’m dropping my 250 less. I’ve lost good things by getting rid of the 150 which is sad but I feel I’ve gained far more. I actually enjoy my 250F more and feel I’m learning faster now. Can’t say I find the lack of a power band snap more boring personally. I like the smooth power and sound a bit more of the 250F. Horses for courses. It does get hotter for sure going slow but it coped really well in a rocky river bed section. No worse than my 150. I can see it def would be at a disadvantage going over big rocks, large logs or anything hard enduro wise or slow for extended periods. No contest there, but then the 150 with its missing low end isn’t the best at that either you’d want a 300. I prefer more cross country style stuff at the moment so it’ll do well for now.

300 vs 350 for a novice rider?
Probably the 350. The 300 can get away from you pretty quick, where as the 350 4-stroke has quite a bit more control in the low end.
250f for noobie and all around riding, 250 2T if you want to ride more technical terrain. Most people do not need bigger bikes it just tires them out and you can’t ride them to their potential. I’ve been downsizing the last few years and having way more fun doing it. 😉
