1:08:55 That seemed like a genuinely heartfelt moment, mike. Im glad we give you some sort of joy or comfort in this crazy world we live in. Youre very important to many people like myself as well and youve become a staple in my daily life when i try to sleep or just chilling out.
Always thought GBA was kinda like Nintendo's next-gen 16-bit console, like a taste of where they were probably headed if everything didn't go full 3D. Nice to appreciate now and then

Once we figured out as kids that games weren't meant to be fun but meant to be overcome, it became a mission. We studied these games with our kid minds. We played them over and over and over again, as you say. We even took notes when necessary. Often times, there was the payoff of beating the game; and other times the game sat on our shelf never to be beaten by our hands.
There's a Space Invaders game for the PS2 which is a compilation of the different arcade releases, and it also includes a 3D version of the game. It's called Space Invaders Anniversary.
Mike, I would like to recommend Space Invaders GBC by Crawfish Interactive. The story goes that it was supposed to be yet another port of this game, the box art even features the same space invader enemies, but the developer tasked with the project, Crawfish Interactive, decided that with the amount of work involved they might as well just make a brand new game, so they did. Space Invaders GBC is NOT another port of this PS1/N64/GBA game, and in my opinion, it is the superior game. It's faster, more powerups, there's a ship selection (fastest ship is probably the best), and the graphics are super bright and fun and it's just a really good game. Again, Space Invaders GBC is NOT just another port of this game, it's 100% original, and I highly recommend it.
I loved this it had everything, affectionate chat, talking about avgn, matei talking about his hog, some internet history, everything As for being here when the streams happen and interacting hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmn
One GBA game that I always wanted but never got was X-Men: Reign of Apocalypse. It looks like your basic Double Dragon style beat-em-up. Side-scrolling, fore and background movement, but it's X-Men, and that's badass.
Pat Contri once put it pretty well that the original arcade 'Space Invaders' may be an important game but not exactly a good one. 'Galaxian' and 'Galaga' can be kept going for a remarkable amount of time on skill and endurance but first cut 'Space Invaders', it doesn't matter how skilled you are; you're going to get overrun eventually.
Great Game! I never knew your B day was 10/5. I'm 10/7 but 2 years younger. I realy appreciate the Retro. I lived it as well. Seems like there is so many Oct B days with my friends and family. Have a good one if you read this. 👍🏻🇺🇲
@Mike Matei Greetings from Germany!! Youre one of the most awesome people ever! I watch AVGN and you since 2006 and you made me laugh and enjoy life so many times! KEEP UP the good Content! YOUR THE REAL EPIC SHIT!
first Groucho remark I've heard from you. the chat/feedback has previously recco'd NieR: Automata... YEAH. F YEAH!!! - a jrpg for sure; maybe try it off stream,. ~50 hours was my last playthrough a few days ago. it has a variety of shmupsnes. One of my favorite gaming experiences ever, by far. man, your channel keeps getting better - keep it up Mike & thx for posting streams/vods i can relate to, [pre]pandemic or not. luv ya!
Is it too much to ask for a Sequel to Mario Bros 2? I'd love to see wort Return. Ever since Mario 3 the world has been obsessed with mario being a damn Furry.
Gotta disagree with you on the music thing. It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize your break music was from Sonic Blast Man despite being fairly familiar with that game. (that chunky SNES synth bass stands out a mile though.) ;) There's still "normal" non instrumental, non game music I can't find years and years on, too. One time I went into a McDonalds around Xmas and heard *something* playing in place of the standard holiday selections and I'll never forget it. Still have zero clue despite sifting through dozens of novelty and parody records since then. Mysteries still lurk out there. Like the name of this one cool Korean shareware game I've never found again since I played it back in '98 or so.
And so another game beat for the Game Boy Advance (the third to be correct). Have to say that both this and the Genesis one you played the other day look far more interesting to me than the vanilla Space Invaders (not that I have something against old arcade games...when I tried them both out, I just found that Galaxian is for me personally way more fun than Space Invaders). There's just something about them that makes me want to play them rather than the original. Games that are missing a link on your Games I've Beaten On Stream list: -Master Of Darkness (Sega Master System) -Dynamite Cop (Sega Dreamcast)
