If the government is doing as preparation in order to fix the roads and install clean water supply along with better sewage drain systems, then I completely understand these actions. However, if they are destroying the property of shopkeepers with no plan to help them, that’s not good. I look forward to learning more about the immediate next steps for improving Brikama Road.
"However, if they are destroying the property of shopkeepers with no plan to help them, that’s not good" The Government is taking back what belongs to the people. These shopkeepers don't own the lands. They are nothing but squatters.
You forget that these shops are on the roads illegally, they can cause accidents and traffic because of that ,a country can never move forward if the roads are not clean and free
They definitely need development, but you must have a plan when you go about it.People’s livelihood is being effected. The government is not going to help feed there families. It’s not what you do it’s how you do it.
Thank you for speaking English in you videos so that more people from around the world will be able to watch and understand what is going on.. consider using better microphones due to some people in the videos do not speak very loud.
Brikama is very different from European towns. The streets are mostly sand roads with big potholes, and very crowded. Goats are walking through the streets and traffic can be very congested. You will hardly find any traffic lights or road signs and all seems to be unorganized. You will not see any highrise builings, most houses have corrugated iron roofs. Still, the typical Africal atmosphere has definitely its charms. You will see women carrying they children on the back, in colourful cloths, or with luggage on their heads. It is full of life. The people are friendly and smiling. If you want to see everyday life in a Arican town, this is where you should start your holidays in Gambia. A visit to Brikama market, for example, is an unforgettable experience. I go I went) there and to the street vendors again and again. They should be added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Stop using poverty as entertainment for visitors it's not something to be cherished, the streets are dirty so reorganisation and improvements are needed. Having shacks built anywhere and everywhere with tin roofs and throwing rubbish everywhere it unacceptable
I hate dirty, I hate pollution, I hate all those plastics items all over, in the sea, in the streets. But I love the athmosphire in Gambia. I love colours, smiling and friendy peoples, relaxed stroking. The streets are full of living life. It is nothing to do with poverty.
That’s true again those countries start the process with development and increase the work opportunities. In our case I think is a mess up, among all those rapidly developing countries in Africa they still have these kind of vendors like in Gambia. Instead to demolish them they tend to start the process with development to insure high work rate before demolition. I think we bounce on it. My thoughts
Let them keep the good job. The people’s want make a market everywhere building shop everywhere they want to. It’s not right 🤔 And they r throwing rubbish everywhere on the streets 🤔
I don't mean to be rude or disrespectful, but if those Tourists are building their countries, they don't consider us. Let people do what is right and abide by the law. In America, even if you walk on the grasses on the roadside, you get to find that to talk less of building a structure on the road. I can continue and give examples like that here in the US.
@@Paousman don't mind this people they are the same people who are complaining that Gambia is not developed, now the government doing this great work they are still complaining.
@@Paousman it’s your opinion… and mine is it’s wrong it’s destroying people income it’s the worst thing you can probably do those people and Gambias future.
While you want to keep Gambia in a despicable condition for the tourist they leave and go back to their developed countries and see us as uncivilized. Is it all for entertainment?
Everyone commented below is right, no one is wrong. Gambia is belong to all of us, as we all want its betterment. Process of development or changes is painful, we must go through those pains sometimes to reach were we wanted to be.
Yes Brikama is very dirty and clean up is a must needed task. If the Gambia had Order it wouldn’t of gotten this bad, But u still has to think about people’s livelihood. They don’t have programs like other countries that help feed their families. The struggle is real here. They just do what they got to do to survive. The President does not have any concern for the people as long as he is living well. It’s sad to see this but it has to get done. Planning is most important when you are doing a project that consists of demolishing structures where people make their living. Believe me if the foreigner was out there they wouldn’t have done it the way they are doing their own people.
@@cornellrivers9247so what is your solution, let brikama be so dirty ? It is an embarrassment to show brikama to other countries because how dirty it is ,other African countries are surpassing Gambia ,Senegal have done this ,other African countries have done this ,this is necessary to keep the road ,free and clean ,when you can build your shop anywhere you want ,you create chaos ,people walk in the road while creating big traffic ,while trash is in the floor everywhere, this has to be an end if you want to see Gambia developing .

Great job! Law and order is needed in the country. It will upset a lot of people but it has to be done.

Well done. Discipline and respect for others’ right is needed in this country. Only backward countries will tolerate rampant road encroachment.
Good job, without order the country can never prosper
