This is the second time we've had to get out of dodge due to a hurricane. Our neighbor said it best: hurricanes aren't really a problem for RVers. We know where they are, how fast they're going, and when they're due to arrive. All that's left is to make sure we're on our way somewhere else when that moment comes!
We've found that this is the best attitude to have when it comes to severe weather. We choose to avoid the drama and speculation that leaves us afraid and confused. Rather, we've learned it's best to download a weather doppler and talk to locals so you can make an informed decision. Locals know the area best, including the spots where flooding is most common. For an RVer, flooding can be the biggest threat.
Based on what the locals were saying in Mystic, CT, we decided to head west and further inland. Hurricane Henri was also headed toward Newport, RI, requiring us to activate our Plan B. Lucky for us, Corey and Jessi with Finding Our Someday (FOS) were nearby-and Maine is their home state. Sometimes Plan B can end up being even better than Plan A!

First, this was an excellent video. Not only enjoyable, but fantastically filmed and edited. Thank you. Second, no offense Trish and Mark, but Caleb…is the star. 😂 I know all your children have experienced your travels, but Caleb is the luckiest kid in the world to be able to grow up experiencing so many cool things. And he’s so entertaining. And meeting the cutest girls! You go, Caleb. (And I love how he’s grown to be such help for set ups, etc. Mark is a great teacher, and I’m sure he appreciates how helpful Caleb is.
So glad it all worked out and that you guys were able to experience “Summah Camp” in Maine! Looking forward to our next epic adventure together. Hopefully there won’t be any natural disasters involved!😉

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but I find putting the truck in 4 Low when backing up on the Anderson Blocks gives me way more accuracy and precision, and needing way less RPM to push the trailer up on the blocks.

That truly is amazing that you guys can meet people like that and have a list of experiences without even a plan. I am a horrible conversationalist. Even when I’m with people that I know for a long time I still have nothing to say in a conversation. It’s wonderful that you guys can do that talk and talk and talk and make those kind of friends.
This was so fun to watch since we had just returned from a weekend at Bayley's!! We were there this weekend for their apple picking special. Fun to see other people enjoying such a great campground!

Wasn't that so amazing? I've been staying at Bayley's every year for the past several years. Last year I was seasonal from May through October and I loved every minute of it. This year I decided to travel more and didn't go so this episode just made my heart so happy. I hope and pray that they had a chance to sneak down to fisherman's co-op at pine point while they were there. Prettiest sunset in the world. ❤️
Being a full blooded Minnesotan the comments about Minnesotan’s being kind until you get them driving a boat is so true! For 20+ years my uncle has brought his boat to the cabin over the 4th of July and let’s just say I refuse to get on a tube with him at the helm because he is CRAZY!!! My cousins have come off waves and hit 5+ feet of air on a LAKE!

I love those Anderson Blocks under the tires. We learned that trick from KYD. You guys rock! Yep they work really well in sand too. So nice to see a glimpse of summer as it's coming into fall. I can smell the lake, feel that water!

We’ve just been through Hurricane Ida in south Louisiana. Cat 5. Instead of being in Wyoming for a month, we are repairing our home. Always leave for hurricanes.

Hi KYD, I am unsure if this is still policy, but when we were in Mandatory evacuation zone during hurricane Rita (which was the entire Texas Coastline - 2005), you were allowed to shelter in State Parks as opposed to going to Red Cross shelters, and sleeping side by side with strangers. RC Shelters also do not let you bring your pets.

We were in site 38 next to you in Mystic with a rental. Only got to stay 1 night because of the hurricane but just last week we bought our own travel trailer!! Lots of camping and adventures to come!

This is by far my all-time favorite video that you guys have put together. You guys and Finding Our Someday are my two favorite TH-cam content producers. Last year I was a seasonal from may until October at Bayley's in Scarborough. (It's really such an amazing place although a bit spendy from my FT budget 🤣) This year I'm traveling more but I've still got back to the Portland head light three times. It is my all-time favorite place to be on the East Coast. Watching you guys tour the greater Portland area, Cape Elizabeth, Scarborough, and tearing into some Holy Donuts made me feel so nostalgic it almost brought a tear to my eye. I so desperately hope to cross paths with you guys someday and to know that we were both in the same area at the same time tells me that there's a chance of that happening down the road.. this was the most enjoyable video that you've ever produced. The joint collaboration between you two was so enjoyable. Thank you so much for the work you put into making these videos happen as I know how much work goes into them. 🙏. As we speak I'm exploring the Kangamangus highway in the White mountains of New Hampshire and I just sat down to relax and watch your video. What a wonderful way to end my evening. 🙏

Elk’s “Club”… HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA Yer gonna get your Elk’s membership revoked :^) I extensively traveled the east coast as a young teenager and as beautiful as it is, all I remember is the beauty and the HUMIDITY. I was dripping hot and soaked in sweat the entire time. How you guys are always dry during these awesome vids is beyond me… I sweat in 70 degree heat here in MT…
I have managed a couple of communities with golf courses. Resident geese are a total pain... and then you cut to Charlie rolling on his back, and you can probably guess what went through my mind, but he came up with a clean back and I thought, thank God he didn't roll in goose poop!

She took me to the same places ya'll went to. KYD and Finding Our Someday are my 2 favorite Camping TH-camrs. I only subscribe to 3 and the #3 are RV tips and not the adventure your two families enjoy. I’ve learned a lot from you guys and even planned some of my trips based on your past videos! You guys even encourage me to document my own trips more as a memory record. GarciaMemories.
