    Lee - that's why they call FAIL "First Attempt In Learning". Nothing wrong with it at all . Another motto that I live by is "never stop learning". Learn something new every single day. Love your channel! Keep up the amazing work!

    Dude, i cannot believe how much alike we are. Listening to you in this video, all your reactions, frustrations, all of it, even though we are years apart in age, different countries & completely different lifestyles, i was listening to me, that's how i react.
    It is, as i have commented on previous videos, it is your brutal honesty that i like & what keeps me wanting to watch more. Keep up the good work the tutorials & the explanations on & about any of your mistakes, thanks again brother.

    Hey dude thanks for posting this. I have been watching your page for a few months now wanting to get started on screen printing so I bought my equipment and thought I was ready to rock and did three shirts and somehow had more ink on me then the shirts and it was just a mess and legit thought about selling everything. Gave it a few days went back our attention and then the shirts came out clean. Thanks for posting good content it helps a ton!

      That happened to me in the beginning, and still happens the odd time trying new and more complicated stuff. It's all about pushing though the bullshit and making it work 🤘🏻

    I print with only water based inks, and use the same pigments. I am no pro. but understand the frustration. Couple tips to avoid future problems. I always keep a spray bottle and mist the ink after a few prints to keep it from drying, keep the screen flooded, post expose the screen. Gets easier working with the inks, I think you are pretty much there.

    I'm having problems with water based ink myself. But with one color, multiple prints. I seem to usually get the first stroke pretty good but when it comes time to flooding the screen and printing another shirt right after, it seems to come out faded. And then trying to re-do it on the same shirt, it ghosts. I just need to keep practicing. Conquered Vinyl, sublimation and now gotta conquer this!

    Lee, I've watched all of your videos multiple times over as I prepare to retire from the military and start my own business. I love the honesty and learning process you go through and how you take your product quality so serious. I have a ton of respect for you on those aspects. How did you decide to select Ryonet instead of any of the manufacturers? I'm closer to St. Louis where Lawson is located. Any extra advise that you haven't shared on the videos would be GREAT!

    working with plastisol ink before waterbased is like trying to learn to snowboard after you've been skiing for long time. Basically it suuuuuucks and everything feels way harder than it needs to. I've been running a successful high volume waterbase print shop for almost 10 years and only use plastisol when the garment requires it. Feel free to reach out anytime with questions about waterbased ink, I might be able to point you in the right direction or help you trouble shoot these issues.

    • @leestuart38
      @leestuart38  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks a lot dude! I really want to learn how to do both well so I can choose what's best to get the coolest end result on any particular garment, it's just going to take a ton of time and practice. Waterbased is definitely a lot more difficult though, I found out the hard way haha

    • @leestuart38
      @leestuart38  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man. There's so much stuff out there I would never want to have a go-to blank, I always get as much info as I can from the client and change it up to what the job requires so they get the best possible product. That's why this shop stands out among many because there are far too many out there that are stuck in their ways and don't really care about what the customer is trying to achieve. Remember that advice and it will help you stand out too, good luck man!

    What setup did you use to cure you water based prints without a forced air conveyor dryer? I have been having trouble with my Riley Hopkins 8 footer using water based ink and I would to get some insight!!
    Love the channel keep on kicking ass brother! Cheers!

    • @leestuart38
      @leestuart38  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I honestly don't do much waterbased stuff on this setup since the dryer is so small, it slows production down way too much. You can use something like green galaxy warp drive though to speed it back up, but I try to only use it for simple stuff.

  • @cattreat7

    New to screen printing. I started with water based inks,,,am i off base by doing that??? The only multi colored print I did was using a white under base otherwise all have been one color.

    • @leestuart38
      @leestuart38  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I prefer plastisol for beginners. Water based is much harder to work with on press and much harder to cure properly. With plastisol you can take your time and focus on nailing the fundamentals.

    whats the advantage to using water based ink compared to the ink you use for all your other clothing?

    • @leestuart38
      @leestuart38  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's much softer, lighter and has a different matte finish. In the case of the shirts I was going to make, that was definitely necessary to get the look I was going for

    You have to admit, those shirt printers produce a million times better prints than screen printing. Not sure what the cost would have been compared to your current manual analog setup but I have to think it might be worth it. I think there are hack DIY setups that cost about 1/10th of a commercial printer but as a business that's a tough call. The commercial printers are stupid expensive for what they are, I'm surprised the Chinese haven't produced something for a fraction of the cost, it's a pretty basic setup. Too much money in selling current gear I guess.

    • @leestuart38

      I've actually never done high density before, but it's something I should probably try!

    Hey Lee love your vids bro. let me ask you a question, did you find that you print head was not locking into you registration gate? I have the same setup and I was having that problem when using the secondary off contact knob.

    • @leestuart38
      @leestuart38  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man. I've never had that problem yet but I've had a few small ones so far. I plan on going through each head and station with a torque wrench and making a spec sheet to keep everything precise

    As I mention before, showing the darker side of the screen printing is keeping it REAL. Look at it another way; Failing is not Important, what's really important is have the initiative, determination, motivation confidence, courage and strength to try AGAIN!
    You're only proving "That a Winner Never Quits and a Quitter Never Wins.

    Hey Bro, love your videos!
    So I was wondering, where do you get your stickers made? I am making my own brand, and have been going through random people for my stickers. Any suggestions? Thanks bro

    • @leestuart38
      @leestuart38  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man. I make my own for the most part, the only ones I'm not making are the small slap stickers. I have a friend that does those for me

    • @McClure18
      @McClure18 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh ok.
      But I’m just talking about the die cut ones you have, not the simple ones.
      I can’t believe I’m getting to talk to you, so crazy :)

    • @leestuart38
      @leestuart38  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha I'm just a normal guy. The die cut ones I make myself here on my vinyl cutter

    • @McClure18
      @McClure18 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you should make a video on the process of making them. I am trying to make some but I don’t know how to make the die cut stickers. Just your typical vinyl stickers.
      But your like a celebrity honestly! I have been watching all your videos while I am deployed overseas because I am trying to start my clothing apparel company when I get back.

    Hey Lee! I recently found your channel and I want to say that you are really inspiring. I watched just about all your videos about your business and I have found it really helpful. After I watched your "Crazy Home Screen Printing Setup" video I thought to myself, "Wow! This is how I want to end up with my business". I want to be successful and I believe my brand has meaning to it just like yours. I need to put in more hard work but it is also difficult as I attend school but I still manage. I currently use Heat Transfer Viynl but I would l was thinking of slowing making the transition to screen printing. If you see this comment please check out my brand's "About" page @ www.brandname.life/about . I have just recently made some prints and I also wanted to send a picture of those to your through Instagram. I hope none of this sounds weird. Anyway, keep it up bro!

    Water based inks dry faster on the screen than plastisol and other inks. Makes the design a mess
