This is amazing...I always assumed that Chihayafuru exaggerated the speed but it really didn't. They're so fast! Ah, I love the anime and it's amazing to see a match in real life like this.

I'm French and I hope that I could one day recognize all the hyakunin isshu! But I learn too slowly to play karuta
damn..the chihayafuru anime wasnt kidding..they really are that fast

Watching the Chihayafuru anime, I never thought the real Karuta players were so fast but I have to pay close attention to see who got the card first. Its just really great. It makes me wish I was 100% fluent in Japanese so I could give this a go.

FueledByKass Good News : you don't need to speak a word of japanese to play Karuta (well !). Sure learning the Hiragana is the fastest way to play with the real cards, but remember that you only need to Know and Recognize the 100 cards (and Wasuramoti or a actual reader). Even without knowing the hiragana, it's possible (making your own cards in romanji, etc)
There is always a way !

So glad I can understand what's happening now because of Chihayafuru. XD!!

+LittlePiggy~ She wasn't the previous queen, both of them were the west and east representatives. The previous queen already retired. But Yamazoe Yuri-san (left side, lavender) did challenge the previous queen in 2014 though.
I just watched season 3 today 😮 they didn't exaggerate the anime.
