I am one of those affected, having booked premium seats for our flight to Antigua next year. I’ve done P & O cruises in the Caribbean many times and have always upgraded the flight seats. Had I known there was any chance that premium seats wouldn’t be available I wouldn’t have booked the cruise. But now it’s Maleth Aero, like it or not. P & O will refund me the cost of the premium seats and give me an additional £75 on board credit. If I don’t accept this, as per the standard Ts & Cs, I won’t get refunded my deposit. This doesn’t seem right - contract law is based on offer and acceptance. They offered premium economy flights - I accepted and paid for them. And as you say John - they must have known what the plans for Maleth were at the time of booking. I am faced with a difficult decision - fly Maleth, in an old aircraft with the absolute minimum seat pitch and a hold allowance of 23kg per person, or attempt to take on P & O.

@@cruisingwithjohn yes I’ve checked out flights with Virgin (£2889 for premium economy) and BA (£1618 for PE). Both arrive in the afternoon of embarkation, but we’d obviously have to offload our luggage and arrange transport to the cruise terminal. Not an affordable or practical alternative I’m afraid.

This is live at 1530pm 1 Dec 2023. We're sat in Manch airport. Should have flown out at 0900. Maleth Aero "delayed" technical issues at Gatwick. No info, no staff, no one informing anyone. On our second lot of free vouchers from Swissport staff. P&O not contactable!! Our suitcase left us at 0600 this morning. Who'd have thought, me n the missus would watch a beautiful sunrise and then sunset at Manch airport in same day?? God I spoil her!!!
We had 2 flights with Maleth Aero. Well I our opinion it unsafe cabin operations. From crew not able to close door, trolley being left unattended in cabin even when seat sign on, trolleys be left unsecured in gallery for long periods of time, only 7 crew in cabin for takeoff ( one in flight deck) minimum for this aircraft type is 8 in cabin. 3 out of the 8 crew no full qualified trainees. Should be 8 crew and can be other in training

An Airbus 330 is actually a long haul aircraft . Aer Lingus use them across the Atlantic , for instance . You may also be surprised at the age of TUI or BA aircraft . Even some of TUIs 787 are now 10 years old . But you are correct . P&O have selected a cheap airline to transfer their passengers across the Atlantic because they are only considering their bottom line rather than their customers experience . I suppose it may depend on the price of the cruise as to whether this is a good deal or not .

@@cruisingwithjohn yeah agree that 30” seat pitch for long haul is no use . Coupled with no in flight entertainment then that’s really disappointing . It maybe that they can’t get enough capacity from TUI as they do have two large cruise ships operating out of Bridgetown and have no choice but to use another airline - but it does look on the cheap side !
@@cruisingwithjohnI believe Maleth may be using A340 G-ECLF which is currently registered to their UK partner European Aviation (which used to operate ex UK for award winning carrier Palmair). This A340 is ex Etihad and I had been advised earlier this year that it is being configured for cruise charters and the like. If so it may even be a step up from TUI's aircraft in terms of comfort though it will be a little dated.
This will be our first and last cruise with P&O. The flight may not be a big deal for some, but for us it is a part of the whole holiday experience as the cruise itself. We felt we had no option but to shell out for BA flights to get us to Arvia instead. I feel for those who have no option but to put up with the flights or lose their holidays.

I think bonded luggage is where drop your cases off at your home airport and they appear outside your cabin - I am happy to be corrected. We have done a repositioning cruise from the Caribbean, the choice was Marella or P&O, we chose Marella because we disembarked in Malaga and flew back to Brum, P&O would have meant landing at Southampton and getting back to the Midlands. We flew to Barbados on a TUI Dreamliner which was fine. The flight from Malaga to Brum was on a much older TUI Nordic 767. That had inflight entertainment in Scandinavian languages, you could buy snacks with Euros, Kroner or US $. It was a bit of a let down after paying a lot of money. I was lucky because I know someone at TUI so expected what was going to happen but even so it was disappointing. I would be filled with trepidation at the thought of flying long haul with an airline like Maleth, I am sure they are perfectly safe - the likes of TUI and Jet2 use similar companies to bolster their summer flights but for long haul it would take the gloss off the holiday because you dont know what you will get.
Always pleased to be corrected and thanks for watching. I will be flying back to Birmingham on Tui (thankfully not changed) and Premium Economy as I want my holiday to finish at the airport. Still have to find a way back to Leicester lol. Thanks again.
Probably doesn’t help that tui will have 2 ships there too as well as the 2 p4o so that’s 4 ships that tui would have to fly planes for which would mean they’d have to reduce flights to other areas. Overall, I would think that p&o would have flight partners that have a better reputation such as aer lingus, virgin, ba or Norse.
What bothers me most about this airline is the seating. Three seats in each row which means people will be packed in like sardines. Imagine if you are placed next to someone over weight and are squashed in your seat for 8 or 9 hours with no entertainment. Our friends have already cancelled so looks like I will be cancelling this holiday too.

Hi John. Well i have had to cancel becauae i am disabled, i have to book premium because i can't sit in economy at all. The first thing i ask for is premium seats, if they had not been available i would.not have booked the cruise. So i cancelled and i am now down £700 fortunately i only lost the deposit I feel like P&O are just stealing my money and certainly are not replying to emails phone calls or the online form i filled in. Deeply disappointed.

Hi! Thanks for this. We have booked the TA from Barbados to Southampton on Arvia in March. When I booked, I asked the agent what airlines P&O used and was told Tui or Virgin, and was told that we could book PE flights nearer the time. I obviously didn't get the email which everyone else had as the very next day I started to read comments that the flights have been changed to Maleth Aero. So obviously even their agents in Carnival House didn't know. I also read an article stating that no travel agents knew about this and they were angry about this bombshell. We are going to wait until I read reviews on people who are going before us and before our balance is due (Christmas week) before we decide whether to cancel or not! At least we are only travelling oneway so can relax for the rest of the holiday.

@cruisingwithjohn po state on the reply and other media that there is no in-flight entertainment. It is nit a long haul carrier so u suspect other problems as well. We and family we are going with have decided to lose our deposits and Cancel. Having g cruised about 30 cruises and my daughter being married aboard PO we are disgusted with them

We were flying to Antigua end of February for my birthday, have now cancelled, lost deposit just don't feel safe travelling on maleths old planes. Will never book a cruise again with p&o.
You are unfortunately not the only passengers doing this. There was an article the other day saying that Carnival/P&O have angered so many customers but also put travel agents in a bad position of not knowing the details. Thankyou for watching x
Maleth operate the A330 on a high density seating plan .... 3-3-3 (9)across. Most airlines (including Virgin) operate the a A330 with a 2-4-2 (8) across so the seats will be narrow too. Bonded luggage means you can leave your suitcase outside your cabin door and collect it in the uk... imho P&O have sold the idea that flights would operate with an operator with premium seating (tui or Virgin for example) and of course this is what has been used in prior seasons...so this is what we expect,.i anticipate aircraft range issues when the aircraft is full and carrying a lot of luggage as cruise flights do. Watch this space!

My parents were booked for feb cruise and have been informed that they are flying on MALETH AERO! my mum has a bad knee so was always planning to upgrade her seat - this is now not an option and with the saftey reports on this airline which are terrible and also the no entertainment - they have decided to cancel their holiday as at present have only paid their deposit . P&O are not supplying a LIKE FOR LIKE Service! surely this is so wrong .

Less legroom on Maleth (barely 30 inches which is less that TUI, BA, Virgin, etc), flight is also 10.5 hours rather than 9 as the plane is smaller and older….. bring your own tablet….but they won’t give you anywhere to plug it in so how long will an iPad battery last? All very poor so think we will probably have to cancel…. Going to be a lot of empty cabins……
Thank you for this John. I am travelling with P&O to the Caribbean this coming November. And I was absolutely appalled when I received the email from P&O regrading advising me that my flights would now be with Maleth Aero. I have paid to transfer my flights to Virgin.
Did you have to pay full amount for Virgin flights or did you get any allowance from P&O.? I have been trying to do the same but P&O seem less than helpful. It will be the very last time I book fly/ cruise and will not be using P&O for their underhand way of dealing with this.
We would have cancelled but only informed after balance paid. We will not be go on P&O again. Tui had 3 aircraft on heavy maintenance this winter. Maleth aero have two better aircraft in storage. P&O are doing on the cheap
just shows how p and o treat there customers get your money and move the goalposts at a later date i hope people take note if you want a Caribbean cruise plz do not go with p and o everything is done on the cheep you will not have a holiday of a lifetime more a holiday of nightmares
Sorry John, but I think a bit of perspective is needed here. While I can understand it is disappointing having your flight downgraded people need to remember that some people are struggling to feed their children and heat their homes this winter. They would love to be able to fly 8 hours without entertainment to a ship full of food in a hot climate. When I was born people used to be able to fly without watching a film. Just take a good book to read on the flight and appreciate how fortunate you are.
What’s that got to do with anything? People have paid good money for a quality service that they are not getting and have every right to be aggrieved…. Don’t think many people would be happy spending a solid 10.5 hours (yes Maleth flights are an extra hour and a half) just reading a book……

We are off to antigua to meet arvia as a joint special celebration and yes its been very marred by the fact that we will now be flying with maleth aero! We booked march so i dont get why, i am not impressed, nor are my 2 young men, who are both on the autistic spectrum, I am certainly going to need those cocktails by the time we get on board! My 1st time with p&o and likely my last!
Sounds like another downgrade by P&O as they charge more and give you less standards are dropping I think Carnival are looking at recuperating their lost revenue under covid.
Got us concerned about our upcoming caribbean cruise. We expected it to be TUI as it shows in the webpages. Will not be happy at all with so much competition P&O will have shot themselves in the foot. We cruise in the caribbean every year and the flight is long even with the distraction of entertainment without it is will be one very very long flight and one i will not choose to do again with &O

Have you heard of every single private charter airline in the world? Hifly? Smartlynx? Avion express? Air x charter? Titan airways? Just because you haven’t heard of them doesn’t mean they don’t exist or are beneath you. If you do your research properly you will see they have 2 x A330 aircraft with business class. So P&O could have selected these. But they did not and chose high density economy class aircraft instead. Service and crew can not be faulted with this airline. And they have an impeccable safety recorded. No aircraft are grounded they are either stored or not being used for passenger operations. Well done Maleth Aero for securing this contract may your crew be blessed with not having to deal with such ignorant people

Your frustration is with P&O not an airline you’ve never flown with. Get a grip and stop trying to destroy an airline you have no idea about and have no experience of!!
Couldn't agree more. It should also be noted that P&O at no stage, guaranteed that it would be TUI or Virgin. Just that flights are included. Anger shouldn't even be vented at P&O, but the Travel Agents who appear to have been promising a certain carrier. I absolutely guarantee that P&O promised nothing with regards who people would fly with. Another reason not to use Travel Agents, just go direct. You won't get told a load of balls then. Should also be noted that everyone got a refund for lack of Premium Peasant Class, and an extra £75 per person on board spend. Not all bad. Flying is just a necessary evil of getting there. Let me know when you find a luxury standard class flight, because TUI certainly isn't one. Same microwave prepackaged meal, same lack of leg room, and same lame entertainment from the early 2000s.

Thank You John. I am going to the Caribbean with P&O in December. When i booked i was told that P&O would be using TUI dreamliner. I have since watched videos of P&O passengers travelling from UK to Barbados and felt comfortable with my booking. I am now really disappointed that i will be flying with an unknown airline, and NO entertainment for 8-9 hours. This is really disappointing and has already put a damper on my much awaited winter break.

Maleth air wouldn't be allowed to operate in the UK without a special safety record some tui planes are 25years old you need to be careful what your saying on a public forum it's additional aircraft to meet additional demand

@@cruisingwithjohn well when easyjet started we had the same level of criticism, when jet 2 started the same and may I remind some these airlines don't have video screens. OK they are new but let's give them a chance, the holiday is not about the flight but the cruise it's 14 days of sunshine and relaxation. To those going on their first cruise we are causing anxiety. If it fails then let's say so but give them a chance. I have nothing to do with this airline but believe in giving others a chance.... Tui might I remind some has a poor record of going on time and cancellations and is not a virgin or BA

8 plus hours on a cramped plane with no in flight entertainment on a barely known haulage carrier, yes they got into trouble some time ago( with transporting monkeys which they acknowledged and stopped) no human cargo, thank's but no thank's. I am sure there will be shed loads on in flight vids going around in the next few months... of flight rage.🤣🤣
Saying re the monkey flights they don’t do that anymore is like saying they employ serial killers but it’s OK as they don’t do that anymore…..! They have lost 100% of their credibility with this decision…..

I am still waiting for my contacts to come back to me. Someone did say to me that apart from no entertainment that the leg room was good and so that's positive. I am keeping a close eye on this.

Well i have had to cancel becauae i am disabled, i have to book premium because i can't sit in economy at all.
The first thing i ask for is premium seats, if they had not been available i would.not have booked the cruise.
So i cancelled and i am now down £700 fortunately i only lost the deposit
I feel like P&O are just stealing my money and certainly are not replying to emails phone calls or the online form i filled in.
Deeply disappointed.

Hi! Thanks for this. We have booked the TA from Barbados to Southampton on Arvia in March. When I booked, I asked the agent what airlines P&O used and was told Tui or Virgin, and was told that we could book PE flights nearer the time. I obviously didn't get the email which everyone else had as the very next day I started to read comments that the flights have been changed to Maleth Aero. So obviously even their agents in Carnival House didn't know. I also read an article stating that no travel agents knew about this and they were angry about this bombshell. We are going to wait until I read reviews on people who are going before us and before our balance is due (Christmas week) before we decide whether to cancel or not! At least we are only travelling oneway so can relax for the rest of the holiday.
Many people were left in the dark and many TAs hadn't a clue about the changes. P&O have had a lot of negative comments from both customers and agents. Thanks for watching and commenting

@cruisingwithjohn po state on the reply and other media that there is no in-flight entertainment. It is nit a long haul carrier so u suspect other problems as well. We and family we are going with have decided to lose our deposits and Cancel. Having g cruised about 30 cruises and my daughter being married aboard PO we are disgusted with them
@mikejacks1939 there are many choosing to do the same unfortunately. I am going to be filming on this ship and reviewing the transatlantic crossing, otherwise I would be doing the same. Hopefully you will find something else ?
@@cruisingwithjohnthey don’t use a340s these fly for European Cargo there are no a340s in passenger configuration currently.

We were flying to Antigua end of February for my birthday, have now cancelled, lost deposit just don't feel safe travelling on maleths old planes. Will never book a cruise again with p&o.
You are unfortunately not the only passengers doing this. There was an article the other day saying that Carnival/P&O have angered so many customers but also put travel agents in a bad position of not knowing the details. Thankyou for watching x
Maleth operate the A330 on a high density seating plan .... 3-3-3 (9)across. Most airlines (including Virgin) operate the a A330 with a 2-4-2 (8) across so the seats will be narrow too. Bonded luggage means you can leave your suitcase outside your cabin door and collect it in the uk... imho P&O have sold the idea that flights would operate with an operator with premium seating (tui or Virgin for example) and of course this is what has been used in prior seasons...so this is what we expect,.i anticipate aircraft range issues when the aircraft is full and carrying a lot of luggage as cruise flights do. Watch this space!

My parents were booked for feb cruise and have been informed that they are flying on MALETH AERO! my mum has a bad knee so was always planning to upgrade her seat - this is now not an option and with the saftey reports on this airline which are terrible and also the no entertainment - they have decided to cancel their holiday as at present have only paid their deposit . P&O are not supplying a LIKE FOR LIKE Service! surely this is so wrong .

Less legroom on Maleth (barely 30 inches which is less that TUI, BA, Virgin, etc), flight is also 10.5 hours rather than 9 as the plane is smaller and older….. bring your own tablet….but they won’t give you anywhere to plug it in so how long will an iPad battery last? All very poor so think we will probably have to cancel…. Going to be a lot of empty cabins……
Thank you for this John. I am travelling with P&O to the Caribbean this coming November. And I was absolutely appalled when I received the email from P&O regrading advising me that my flights would now be with Maleth Aero. I have paid to transfer my flights to Virgin.

Did you have to pay full amount for Virgin flights or did you get any allowance from P&O.? I have been trying to do the same but P&O seem less than helpful. It will be the very last time I book fly/ cruise and will not be using P&O for their underhand way of dealing with this.
We would have cancelled but only informed after balance paid. We will not be go on P&O again. Tui had 3 aircraft on heavy maintenance this winter. Maleth aero have two better aircraft in storage. P&O are doing on the cheap
just shows how p and o treat there customers get your money and move the goalposts at a later date i hope people take note if you want a Caribbean cruise plz do not go with p and o everything is done on the cheep you will not have a holiday of a lifetime more a holiday of nightmares

Sorry John, but I think a bit of perspective is needed here. While I can understand it is disappointing having your flight downgraded people need to remember that some people are struggling to feed their children and heat their homes this winter. They would love to be able to fly 8 hours without entertainment to a ship full of food in a hot climate. When I was born people used to be able to fly without watching a film. Just take a good book to read on the flight and appreciate how fortunate you are.
What’s that got to do with anything? People have paid good money for a quality service that they are not getting and have every right to be aggrieved…. Don’t think many people would be happy spending a solid 10.5 hours (yes Maleth flights are an extra hour and a half) just reading a book……

We are off to antigua to meet arvia as a joint special celebration and yes its been very marred by the fact that we will now be flying with maleth aero! We booked march so i dont get why, i am not impressed, nor are my 2 young men, who are both on the autistic spectrum, I am certainly going to need those cocktails by the time we get on board! My 1st time with p&o and likely my last!

Sounds like another downgrade by P&O as they charge more and give you less standards are dropping I think Carnival are looking at recuperating their lost revenue under covid.
Maleth Aero operates under the same rules any other European Operator.
Got us concerned about our upcoming caribbean cruise. We expected it to be TUI as it shows in the webpages. Will not be happy at all with so much competition P&O will have shot themselves in the foot. We cruise in the caribbean every year and the flight is long even with the distraction of entertainment without it is will be one very very long flight and one i will not choose to do again with &O

Have you heard of every single private charter airline in the world? Hifly? Smartlynx? Avion express? Air x charter? Titan airways? Just because you haven’t heard of them doesn’t mean they don’t exist or are beneath you. If you do your research properly you will see they have 2 x A330 aircraft with business class. So P&O could have selected these. But they did not and chose high density economy class aircraft instead. Service and crew can not be faulted with this airline. And they have an impeccable safety recorded. No aircraft are grounded they are either stored or not being used for passenger operations. Well done Maleth Aero for securing this contract may your crew be blessed with not having to deal with such ignorant people

Your frustration is with P&O not an airline you’ve never flown with. Get a grip and stop trying to destroy an airline you have no idea about and have no experience of!!
Couldn't agree more. It should also be noted that P&O at no stage, guaranteed that it would be TUI or Virgin. Just that flights are included. Anger shouldn't even be vented at P&O, but the Travel Agents who appear to have been promising a certain carrier. I absolutely guarantee that P&O promised nothing with regards who people would fly with.
Another reason not to use Travel Agents, just go direct. You won't get told a load of balls then.
Should also be noted that everyone got a refund for lack of Premium Peasant Class, and an extra £75 per person on board spend. Not all bad.
Flying is just a necessary evil of getting there.
Let me know when you find a luxury standard class flight, because TUI certainly isn't one. Same microwave prepackaged meal, same lack of leg room, and same lame entertainment from the early 2000s.

Thank You John. I am going to the Caribbean with P&O in December. When i booked i was told that P&O would be using TUI dreamliner.
I have since watched videos of P&O passengers travelling from UK to Barbados and felt comfortable with my booking.
I am now really disappointed that i will be flying with an unknown airline, and NO entertainment for 8-9 hours. This is really disappointing and has already put a damper on my much awaited winter break.

Maleth air wouldn't be allowed to operate in the UK without a special safety record some tui planes are 25years old you need to be careful what your saying on a public forum it's additional aircraft to meet additional demand

@@cruisingwithjohn well when easyjet started we had the same level of criticism, when jet 2 started the same and may I remind some these airlines don't have video screens. OK they are new but let's give them a chance, the holiday is not about the flight but the cruise it's 14 days of sunshine and relaxation. To those going on their first cruise we are causing anxiety. If it fails then let's say so but give them a chance. I have nothing to do with this airline but believe in giving others a chance.... Tui might I remind some has a poor record of going on time and cancellations and is not a virgin or BA

This is my first cruise 🚢 like it or loathe, the flight ✈️ is part of the experience, so I totally get it and understand why people are so perturbed about P&O under handedness.
But on a positive note I will also be visiting my parents in Barbados 🇧🇧 so I am just happy to still be going, but P&O have shot themselves in the foot 🦶 big style and still won’t care about the paying public like myself who would have upgraded to premium for leg 🦵 space.

8 plus hours on a cramped plane with no in flight entertainment on a barely known haulage carrier, yes they got into trouble some time ago( with transporting monkeys which they acknowledged and stopped) no human cargo, thank's but no thank's. I am sure there will be shed loads on in flight vids going around in the next few months... of flight rage.🤣🤣
