    The Chosen is an American Christian historical drama television series created, directed and co-written by filmmaker Dallas Jenkins. It is the first multi-season series about the life and ministry of Jesus of Nazareth. Primarily set in Judaea and Galilee in the 1st century, the series centers on Jesus and the different people who met and followed or otherwise interacted with him. The series stars Jonathan Roumie as Jesus, alongside Shahar Isaac, Elizabeth Tabish, Paras Patel, Noah James, and George H. Xanthis. Noticing that there had never been a multi-season, episode-based portrayal of Jesus that could be "binge-watched" like shows on streaming mediums such as Netflix, Jenkins intended the show to differ from previous portrayals of Jesus by crafting a story arc that focused more deeply on the people who encountered Jesus and viewing him through their eyes. He wanted to present Jesus in a way that was more "personal, intimate, and immediate".
    The producers have used innovative methods for finance and release, primarily through crowdfunding. Fundraising for the first season[3][4] as well as subsequent ones continues to make The Chosen the most successful crowdfunded TV series or film project. As of 2021, viewers had contributed $40 million towards its production. In late 2022, the creators partnered with a new nonprofit company, the Come and See Foundation, to manage funding, which allows contributors to receive a tax deduction for their contribution.
    In addition to crowdfunding and the pay-it-forward model, revenue is also generated through several other methods. The show is licensed to other streaming platforms and TV networks, such as Amazon Prime Video, Peacock, and Netflix. Merchandise and video sales provide additional sources of revenue, as have limited premiere runs in cinemas. The show has been further adapted into a series of novels by Jenkins's father, author Jerry B. Jenkins, a series of graphic novels by Corvus Comics, and companion Bible study materials published by David C. Cook. New episodes are released for free on the Angel Studios website and app and are later made available through various streaming platforms. Some episodes, particularly season debuts and finales, have been released in theaters before coming out for free. According to an analysis commissioned by the producers, 108 million had seen at least part of the show as of 2022. Translation into as many as 600 languages is being funded by the Come and See Foundation.

    The Chosen does not use Mormon theology and is no way affiliated with the Mormons.

    The Chosen's only connection with "Mormon theology" is the use of the Church of Latter Day Saints' set in Utah.

      @@suem6004 certainly generous, though Europe was not what Dallas was saying at the time as the next choice. And in any event it didn't influence Dallas' theology.

    The Chosen DOES NOT incorporate Mormon theology. Please correct that mistake. Dallas Jenkins and the other writers are Evangelical Christian in their theology. They simply borrowed or rented the set from the Mormons.

    I love the chosen! I HAVE ZERO INTEREST IN JERRY JEKIN'S "LEFT BEHIND" SERIES, OR ANY OF JERRY JENKIN'S WRITINGS. PERIOD. I DO BELIEVE DALLAS JENKINS HAS PRODUCED EXCELLENT WORK IN "THE CHOSEN" I UNDERSTAND HE LOVES HIS FATHER. BUT, "THE CHOSEN" VIEWERS ARE NOT INTERESTED IN "LEFT BEHIND" WRITING. I HAVE NO INTEREST IN JERRY JENKIN'S WRITINGS, WHICH DALLAS USES I NSOME OF HIS EXTRA MERCH ITEMS.

      There is no LDS theology in this show. It uses an LDS studio for Jerusalem shots. It also uses the State of Utah as a mountainous backdrop. The statement about being the "Law of Moses" was a logical addition to the dialog and a conclusion the viewer would logically come to. The fact that a similar statement is in the Book of Mormon is coincidental.
      The panel involved in the creation of this show includes a Roman Catholic Priest, an Evangelical Preacher, a Biblical Archeologist, and a Messianic Rabbi. No LDS representatives write the show, which includes a scriptural framework and plausible character background to make the story relatable to a 21st-century audience. It's also evident that some non-scriptural historical documents and even some non-canonical scripture have been used to paint the scenes of first century life in the Levant.
      Nonetheless, this video is inaccurate in stating that this series includes primarily LDS teachings and theology. Of course, since the LDS theology includes a significant portion of the Christian Bible unchanged from Protestant, Catholic, Orthodox, and most other denominations, it's to be expected that the show would be a valuable resource to all, differences aside.

    I don’t understand why season 5 is not till March 2025 and only in theaters. We would be willing to sponsor monthly so that they can meet the money requirements!!!

    • @user-te3gl1dh3c
      @user-te3gl1dh3c 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's probably in theaters in the February time frame, as it was this year. That actually generated significant money for the show to use to create more seasons. The free streaming would follow in March as it was supposed to this year if not for the legal issue between The Chosen and Angel Studios.
      You are right. We could all pitch in and pay for the show. Unfortunately, only 5% of viewers contribute (last figures I heard). Now, under current contribution levels and somewhere near one half of a billion views of any episode, I find it incredible that it is available for free with the few delays it gets for a theatrical release as it is. This show is a very high-quality 0:04 production for the money it manages to receive under the pay-it-forward paradigm. Actually, for any TV/ movie production I've ever seen. It really is that good.
      So, let's convince more friends to watch and contribute, and maybe Dallas Jenkins can speed up the process. Until then, I'm ecstatic to receive it as we do (and yes, I contribute and buy the Blu-ray releases, which help. Not bragging. Just want the new seasons to come out faster, like you.)

      It does take more than a couple months to set up , film,produce, etc a 8 episode series there's a lot to it so being it will be available in less than a year from now is good, also season 4 was released into theaters first as well, they separated from I believe angel studios so it's pretty much crowd funding ,Dallas, and funds that come from selling the chosen merchandise, the reason it's done in theaters is so they can recoup some of the out of pocket , also it allows for people to access it free of charge like a month later
