dB's were one of the most under-rated bands of the 1980s.....too bad they never hit it BIG....this is one of my favorites: my other favorites are Black & white, Neverland, Bad reputation, We were happy there, JUDY , Espionage & Ask for Jill
@@rebjiii And not just the albums. Saw them live many times between '81 and '86. The material off those two albums in a club was intense! It's stuff you __could not__ hear and hold still.
Saw the same show - great to have the dB's back! Looking forward to the new CD. Interesting note - Peter said they'd dropped the tuning a half step for the reunion shows. It showed - their vocals were far more relaxed than on recordings - sounded great!
Just saw their reunion show at the Cat's Cradle in Chapel Hill; NC on Friday night. I was hoping someone there might have posted some video here, or from last month's NYC reunion show...but alas. It was a great show...they were tight and having fun. Let's hope something comes out of it.
Does anyone know what happened to the video of Spy in the house of love by the Db,s? It used to be on You Tube, but I can,t seem to find it anymore? Can anybody help me?Would love to see/hear it again here!
You may have already seen some of the posts on their website, but a real who's who in the NC music scene were there (besides the one's introduced). I don't know them well enough visually to recognize them...lol
Does anyone have a date and venue for this video. BBE and Bad Rep are prob. my top dB's songs... if I was forced to pick. Just simple, to-the-point -- if not quite complete in structure compared to most pop common songs -- perfection. (A la Big Star's September Gurls... which I am trying to collect all covers of to make a "The Perfect Pop Song" compilation.)
The venue was a television show in the U.K. called The Old Grey Whistle Test that was hosted by 'Whispering Bob' Harris. The dB'S segment was broadcast on March 7th, 1981.

Not under-rated... obscure...
Not given the opportunity of being rated.
Never __under__rated. Not by anyone that ever heard them.

Can't believe this was posted so long ago! Almost 20 years ago. I remember it from then too....
Look at these adorable babies.
It was quite a shock... after an 18 year gap... to encounter a bald Peter H at the Flying Saucer in Raleigh.

FWIW, they're playing SXSW this week and have a new CD coming out in June! The original lineup with Chris Stamey, too!!
Such a cute band!

Love it!
I find it interesting that they refer to themselves as "the D-B's" rather than "the Decibels", which is what I've always called them.
The best!
RE: Judy video
Saw that a version exists the other day. Can't recall where. Try for a search 'Return to Comboland' ... I think that was it.

How I long to play that guitar solo, having slim luck making it out from the video though. Anyone else in the same boat or care to help?
Is this whole show available?
Tobacco Rock!
