Your videos are so helpful for me cause my almost 94yr old mom (colostomy for 29yrs!!) is in assisted living..staff keep "depends" extremely tight over colostomy bag causing leakage and poop related UTIs and recently healed a pressure wound.. I've taken over changing system and some of the stuff can handle the "2 part" disposable bags .. she's doing better but I think the ostomy dome could be the answer to our prayers..I will be figuring out how to get them for her!.. you are a blessing❤
I couldn’t imagine having to do insurance with Crohn’s/IBD… I was dx’d in ‘99 after being hit by 2 claymores… months of foreign medicine/surgeries and finally making it back stateside and still no answers to why I went from 185 lbs to 115lbs in 4 months.. Now 23 surgeries later and an ill fated surgery that will cost me my urinary function… I just couldn’t imagine dealing with insurance and pharmacies… I’ve been watching your channel for a few years now and have so much gratitude for Maggie. I’ve lived with my ostomy for over 15 years now and still have a hard time believing the I can’t 💩 like a normal person. Maggie’s attitude towards her story makes her exceptionally special in how she portrays her daily life. Also I sensed some skepticism with your biologic med Humira.. I’ve been run through Remicade and Humira and now I’m on Entyvio with baiting breathe.. hoping one will finally make a difference.. still having an enormous amount of issues after my procto surgery.., but I would definitely inform your GI dr if you are not feeling your biologic is giving you comfort. Thanks for the voice you give so many of us that aren’t yet ready to speak…❤
I have said in the past about how much I really enjoy you and listening to you you're just delightful and this time I want to say how I think your husband is equally as delightful he has the smile of a person that just would make you feel automatically welcome when you meet him not everyone is like that so I praise you both and look forward to listening to you many blessings to both of you
Thanks for the update on the stoma dome, hubby is going to get me one after my next operation, it's going to be so nice to have a small stoma instead of my 6-7" Rose, ❤
I read The Great Alone: and enjoyed it as well. I have a five chapter rule. If a writer has not got me by chaptoe 5,I'm done with the book. I will not slog through a book I can't enjoy.
I had my bladder removed do to cancer, when I got home your the first video in my search to figure out this bag. Thank you so much. Your spirit shines bright 🙏🌺🌸❤️
OH Maggie! I love that you are doing things you love and still functioning well after your big surgery. I am having that surgery in. 2 months and am terrified!!! I also have a huge parastomal hernia so if they have trouble fixing it my stoma may have to be resited I praying it does not 🤦♀️Also possibly have to have bladder lifted at the same time 😢
Thanks so much Maggie for the info on the stoma dome!! It makes sense to me now...and if it muffles the sounds that Myrtle makes that would be awesome!! Take care and keep warm! ⚘❤
If you are wearing a new ostomy product to fluids? You ate brave. I wouldn't feel confident wearing any new product to my fluids. But I am glad it is working out for you. And hope the fluids help and you get to feeling much better soon. ❤
When I was doing IUI 20 years so I had to use a nasal spray. E went to Iona on holiday. I left it in the car. No ferries running at that time in the evening. My husband had to pay a fisherman to take him back to the other island so he could collect it for me
I have had several resections and I have a terrible time with antibiotics....don't absorb well and wreak havoc on stomach. I always ask for antibiotic shots....even if I have to go back for 3 or 5 days. Or at the very least get the shot and take as many days of antibiotic as I can tolerate. I know you live a ways out and I don't but something to think about!
The stoma dome looks like a great product. I've been wanting something to cover mine when driving. And if it cuts down on the noise that would be awesome. (My husband was listening when I watched your embarrassing stoma moments and when you were in school you shuffled papers to cover the noise. So now when mine makes noise he says "shuffle papers" and pretends to do that! 😂) I've been watching your channel for about 9 months and have watched a bunch of back videos (just finished 2021 & 2022) and wondering what happened with the chickens and if you ever got your wedding ring fixed? 🙂
Did you ever read The Count of Monte Cristo. It has characters whose names change do to their climbing the social ladder. I think it is set in Europe back in the 18th century. I read it in HS over 50 yrs ago :) Also read Catcher in the Rye and an odd book called Death Be Not Proud. Funny how those are the only books I remember being required to read. I have heard about the stoma dome and have though about getting one mostly for the seatbelt thing in the car. Keep us up on how it works for you going forward.
I think I need to give Stoma Dome another chance. I'm a new subscriber so I don't know your full story yet. May I ask why you are getting fluids? Is it because of dehydration from your output?
Zoltan hasn’t been working so well for severe bouts of vomiting. I’ve been using Haldol drops. As a former psychiatric nurse the thought of taking a neuroleptic was a bit daunting but it seems to be helping. Just in case you need an option and of course, this may not be viable for you with your medication and medical history.
Maggie, I use those tall pill bottles to make large ice cubes for my water bottle and other wide mouth containers. They seem to melt slower than regular ice cubes.
Everyone with illostomy has dehydration because they are "replumbed through surgery". Food only gets partially digested so also somewhat malnourished too. Also, surgery messes up the microbiome and good Prebiotics are needed. New ostomy patients (Maggie has had hers for years) can not eat cruciferous veg which has natural Prebiotics because they could cause blockages resulting in emergency surgery. Sometimes supplements come out in bag, meaning they are not digested. It's a real struggle.
Hey Maggie! I’m a former pharmacy technician and they probably didn’t put the clinic in a smaller vial because it would have been too wide to fit in a smaller vial after they folded the foil pack. Just FYI they aren’t crazy or messing with you. 😂
Have you tried pro biotics with live cultures it's helped my digestion I have urinary ostomy because of accident when I was 10 I'm now 66 had ostomy done when I was 14 then redone at 16 . I have no malabsorption due to adhesions and scaring because of all 27 operations. So I have chronic diarrhea. The probiotics help .
You need serious probiotics when you take antibiotics. You KNOW this, Maggie. Of course between doses of antibiotic. Never within a couple of hours of taking an antibiotic. So take them now. Get your good bacteria back. It occurs to me that you might have done this and I'm reminding you of the obvious. Sorry if that's the case. Long and unpleasant experience motivated me to remind you. I've been hospitalized because of forgetting live probiotics. I use live stuff you can find in the refrigerator section of the health food store. Instructions are on the bottle. I don't forget anymore.
How is your trying to get pregnant the last couple of vlogs was talking about your journey of getting pregnant? Or have you decided not to go on with it?
I don't get why you go for fluids.everything will be back to normal in a day or two. Does your body hang on to the fluids or do you just pee it out..I'm so confused. Help.

Stoma dome is so catchy to say 😂 glad it's working out for you!!
I sure hope all works well! And you and Zac are parents soon!
Every January I HATE the insurance struggle, it doesn’t take long to reach my out of pocket max but I struggle to make ends meet until I hit it 😢
You're reading a good amount. It's great to have physical books, I'm only reading digitally.

Question regarding stomadome: can it be used during sleep to protect stoma from being pushed in?
The stoma dome looks amazing i think i need to try one as i have same problem when wearing leggings Thank you for sharing xx❤😊

I love your green bag I love all shades of green.
Thank you!! Its Kate Spade - I got it on their outlet site for a decent price and it has come everywhere with me!

I actually use phenergan most of the time, I just didn't have any with me. Thanks!

That is a fantastic idea!! I'm going to try that!! Thanks :)
Maggie just curious why do you need the infusion of fluids, Are you losing a lot of fluids thru your stoma?

Life is too short to read a book you aren’t enjoying. There are many great books you will never have time to read
Please stop reading books you do not enjoy. Life is too short to waste your time.
How often do you have to get iv fluids? Is this a regular part of your health routine. I'm getting an ileostomy in a couple weeks. UC not Crohn's.

My friend had same pill. It came as a pill in a vial. No pouch
@@SharpLife4it was likely from a different manufacturer.
You should take probiotics when you take antibiotics. It helps me.
I do!
Sorry it doesn’t help more for you.

I am on probiotics! :)
No ostemy but when I’m on abx they make me take a lot of probiotics. Spread out 2 hours around abx. Ask dr
If you like historical fiction you should read All The Light We Cannot See. It’s long but left me speechless
I have the stoma dome and have been afraid to use it. Is it rough on the pouch?
