so impressed with this system, demo this and I have too say this is the best hands down point source array system on the market that Ive demo. thanks for the overview. looking forward to the sound test.
centerstage entertainment I just got mine for 2100$ from pssl.com

EV 50 has a unique brightness on their highs frequencies. Have you compare the two speakers? What would you say about the sound quality and n this aspect?
Hello boss, is this system (just one) enough for 150ppl dance party, medium size room? And how about vocal effects as reverb, delay… it’s included in the mixer?. Thanks!
Thank you for your post..i just purchased my new set but im trying to get the most sound out them. Im a DJ .do you connect 2 set on chanel 1 for left and chanel 2 for right on a separate speakers? Please advice. . Again im trying to make them to sound louder is possible for dj applications Thanks
@@opaz. Hi I bought 2 units ES 1203..im trying to get out them the most sound if possible..I at once I configured as a L and R main but the red ligth it keep blinking so now I decided to set them as a Mono application coming from mixers are coming balanced the sound setting please advise .Thank you
@@Fizyxx ; I have a wedding to do next month and I will test out the DB ES 1203's then. I also bought a single EV EVOLVE 50 to use for ceremony & cocktail hour, that I will test out then also. I sold my BOSE L1 MODEL 2 with 3 B2 subs, & tonematch. Absolutely AMAZING system, I actually regret selling them. To my ears, BOSE ( with tonematch & 1 B2 SUB) Sounded way better than EV EVOLVE 50. Not even close. I have not yet played the DB 1203 in high volume setting yet, but from what I heard so far, I still like BOSE L1 MODEL 2 better ( with tonematch. without the tonematch the system is weak) If you need more bass, add a 4th b2 sub or replace with 2 BOSE F1 SUBS. I will keep you posted after my gig next month.
@@esezate1 In terms of sound quality, I know Bose can impress. But in terms of sound quality + volume/output, I'm interested in hearing how the ES1203 compares. I can't imagine it'll be close but you have no reason to lie. I'm really interested in hearing how the ES1203 LF driver (subs) sounds. John (from the place you bought them) told me they outperform the KW181s
@@Fizyxx Yes, John from TRINITY PRODUCTIONS is the best & I highly respect his expert opinions. He is Not a BOSE or QSC fan. I heard the Bose L1 Model 2 with 3 B2's & Tonematch cranked up in a huge ballroom & it filled that room perfectly....Basss had enough punch & clarity of sound from the front all the way to the back of the room & all along the sides with 300 people. Impressed me that it is only 500 RMS TOTAL. That is weak compared to the 1200 WATT RMS of the 1203'S. The BOSE B2 IS 250 WATT RMS. The 1203 sub is 600 watt RMS. I am really eager to hear how these sounds come Dec 8 for my event.
Daniel, i'm surprised to hear that. The 1203 has much more power and better Mid/LF performance. The extensive control in the DSP alone is a reason to purchase the 1203. The flexibility of being able to run the unit with the 2 split tops in stereo is another advantage over the Evox 12
Sorry mate just one more thing. I would love it if you did an in-depth tutorial on the dsp settings and how to use them. I’m sure I haven’t even scratched the surface with what this system is capable of! Thanks again 🙂
Out of all the pa column systems out there including this one what’s your #1 pick for an acoustic guitarist who sings and plays along with a drum machine? This dB is way expensive but I like the wood cabinet construction for my guitar. Tone is EVERYTHING for my wants including the headroom.
As a dj and not a vocal/instrument performer, I'm not the person to ask. I occasionally set up my equipment for performers and many pa systems will definitely do the job but i can't comment on your specific requirements. Hopefully somebody else can help

Love your videos, really helping me choose my first column speaker. In your opinion, a pair of Evox j8 or a pair of these dB 1203? Which will give me the most and best sound? I'm a dj, doing weddings and parties, Hip-Hop, Reggae R&B so clarity and solid bass is important.
The ES1203 will definitely give you that solid bass that is important to you, with double 12" drivers in the sub. The ES1203 also has the power to deliver it. The onboard EQ will assist you in dialling in the sound that you require I have never listened to a j8 so can't comment on the details. All I can say regarding the j8 is that it will be more portable (lighter) and maybe cheaper. The j8 also has less power and only a single 12" sub A pair of j8's vs a pair of 1203's . .. My money is definitely on the 1203 Hope this helps
I had evolve 50 and rcf 8004 and nxl24a, evolve was underpowered and rcf was overpowered for my 150 ppl wedding. Sold everything and ordered es1203, can't wait to have it, ill order a es1002 if I like what I hear to complete!
I thought about buying one of these DB Tech units to use at small/medium size parties because you can split the top into left and right sides for your stereo config. But ultimately I did not do it because I like having back ups of everything. One powered speaker...if anything goes wrong with it at the gig, you need a back up. I did test an Evox 8 and was impressed with it given what it was, but it couldn't hold a candle to the Evox 12 I tested and really liked. However, I could tell that it did really need a sub for those ultra low end frequencies. Ultimately I found it to be just a really really good sounding and loud as F**K full range speaker split into two pieces. I currently use a killer Yorkville system (Parasource 12s on top, Paraline double 12s on the bottom). The system is 5600 watts RMS. Tight, clear, and puchy tops, and thick meaty beefy well controlled low end waves. Very very good system, but again, 60 lb tops and 120 lb bottoms seems heavier than that at 2am.
noahman27. At events i often use my ES1203 alongside my Evolve 50. Nobody notices/realises that there are 2 different PA's either side of my booth/facade. It's just 2 black tall speakers to many. Guests/clients do not care, it is just the dj that cares Running both, I have very good output throughout, on a very good sounding stereo PA with backup. In total the weight is a breeze at 130 lb and the setup is quick and SO easy
hi. if i wanted to buy two db systems would the db1002s be better? even cheaper? the 1203 would seem more powerful but the only difference I see is the integrated mixer. the rest of the components and measures are the same. did you compare the model 1002 against the 1203?
Hello friend, how are you? I really like watching your videos talking about sound, I think you understand a lot, I just bought a Db ES1203 sound system and it's about to arrive, I heard you talk a lot about this db sound, is it really good? in comparison with the EV evolve 50 you said it is much higher, have you compared it with the RCF EVOX 12? I would like to know your opinion, thank you very much and congratulations on your videos
Thank you for your kind comments, much appreciated I bought my dB ES1203 after owning the Evox 12 one year earlier and the Evolve 50 one month earlier. The Evolve is good for (present day) portability & no wires setup Recent hype about the Evox I think is down to a LOT of paid advertising, it is a dated PA in many ways. The Evox would not be the best choice in 2022/23> for a busy mobile dj The Evox does not sound bad, build is solid but as a PA it is extremely under equipped. The Evolve sound performance has very poor/weak mids. The ES1203 is a good sounding PA, only the weight (in 2024) is a drawback The ES1203 is still a bargain (new) price buy and it has been for the past 3+ years. It is powerful and well equipped which is why I still have mine. I hope you're happy with your choice
Hey Opaz. Do you still use the es1203 ? Just sold my L1pro32 & sub 2’s Like them, but not ££££££ much. Plus too nervous with drunk clients who don’t care. I’ve still a pair of bose S1’s and a pair of rcf710s I use to have the Thomann pyrit 212a bins. Unbelievable low end from a dual 12 but 42kg each with castors. Looking for options to scale up and down. Es1203 ticks a lot of boxes it just the “low end” discussion that keep popping up. I’m mainly weddings in the Uk so 95 % of rooms aren’t that big. Not like in the states where every rooms seems a ballroom for 500 😂 Cheers
Yes Craig "Happy New Year" 😆. I still have my ES1203, I will never sell it. It is a battleaxe, built to last and it has more than I need all onboard. I only have the one. It is much better than my Evox 12. Low end has never been a problem for me in many events. I think we dj's are a little too infatuated with bass. I never listen to the discussions, (maybe I could learn something). I just want to earn from the events/clients and please as many clients as I can. Clients, guests etc don't care, enough bass is there for all indoor events for me. I ain't splitting my spine for indoor events with subs anymore, there's no need. If I have an event and there are a few of us going for fun, we'll take subs.
I've emailed tech support and have not heard back - hoping you can answer this question. "deciding between the ES1203 vs the ES1002. I see the 1002 has a dial to adjust system presets (Flat - Bass boost - Bass reduction - Playback - Speech - Long throw - HPF 80 Hz - HPF 120 Hz) Does the 1203 have the same options - mainly HPF? If not - it seems the 1002 is more suited to work with subs and the 1203 is a better standalone unit." I've read the manual for both but I can't seem to get a clear answer on this.
Hallo OPAZ....just one question.if you have time to answer...tell me if 1203 is still good buy in 2023.Or do you think that something better has hit the market......I am buying my next week if everything is OK. By the way....love your videos.
@@opaz. thanks.....I thought so. I must be honest....you are the one that helped me to make my choice. And just one more question... I play a lot in vary long rooms....I mean very long and narrow, but I don't need much power at the end. What do you thing are small DB OPERA 10" good choice to combine with 1203 (sound vice).I would like everything to be the same brand.I don't need second 1203.I would need pair of small 10" or even 8" just to reinforce at the end.the power is not the issue. Once again..... Thanks And keep good work.
That reinforcement, you will need to experiment with. I can't think of or suggest a speaker for support in that venue. This is a case of trial and error with what you can get your hands on. You may not even need support
Hello it's me again. Just came here to say thank you. I finally got my pair of 1203.....and I am blown away. Testing them in all locations where I play, and every time I am more and more impressed. I was looking for column array systems for long time, and I had my 👀 on db... but it was your detailed video that convinced me to buy them. Thanks one more time, and keep up great work. All the best. Sorry for bad English.😅
so these do have a high pass filter which make it easy to hook up a sub like a KW181? Or would you run out to the KW181? Or is that HPF only for mics? And is the feedback elimination only active on line 1 as well? Lots of questions - I am reading the manual while I wait for a response
I've been told the bass is as loud and low as the KW181 (at least close). I have 2 KW181's and I'm not sure if I want to go with the 1203 or just add the Ingenia series IG4t or IG2t to my kw181s. Opinions? Load in and transport and rigging would be simplified with the 1203 but I think the IG4t/IG2t over my kw181 would offer more output and more versatility.
The 1203 doesn't go as low as my 181's. Not too sure what you're looking for with the IG4t options. If you're considering bigger gear, consider the "real" array equipment like the Amate Audio Xcellence speakers
Wedding and corporate work. Most of my events only need 1 kw181 but I have 2 for bigger stuff. I like the look of the Ingenia (IG 2t/IG4t) series and it would provide a nice move into the compact line array look that seems to be taking trend. I could add 2 IG2Ts for the price of 1 1203. Leading idea is to do (1) 1203 for smaller events and have (2) IG2Ts over my KW181(s) for larger shows.
@@opaz. I don't understand this? why two radically different units? I mean, you do such a good job picking and buying gear - why half-ass it and look so unprofessional with these two systems? It's literally been bothering me since you said it 5 months ago...
The problem is, we are often very critical about things we buy as it's our own money. We are also very critical of how things look when we set up because we take pride in the way things look and our appearance We are also very critical as DJ's of how things sound because we are delivering a service to a client and we want to look, sound and be professional. What we must remember is that clients often do not care! As long as we turn up and we do what we are supposed to do, they don't really care what things look like or what things sound like. (To many clients) if we are there on time and deliver what is in the contract, we have done our job. I know it's not the way for us to think but this is it! Clients don't care what brand Soundsystem you have and how powerful it is! As long as the client hears the songs they want to hear, they can have a sing-along and a boogie they are happy. Clients have far more important things to consider whether it's tending to their guests, making sure things run to programme, the heating, the A/C, whether there's enough food & drink etc etc!.. the list goes on. I do not love the Evolve 50, neither do I hate it. What I enjoy about it is it looks good and it does the job. The fact that it is compact, very portable, so easy to set up and it offers weighty LF from such a small package. It's not fantastic and it is not bad but I will still stick to my comments that it's not the best sounding EV product I have but it is very useful.
If I'm not wanting to drag a pair of 18" subs to a gig, what will sound better as a stand-alone setup: a pair of DB Technologies ES 1203 systems versus a pair of RCF ART 745-A MK4 cabinets??
The ES 1203 has onboard DSP with so many options for adjustments. The ES 1203 goes much louder than the Evox 12 and the flexibility using it in mono or as a stereo system.
Hi mate, loved your video! Was thinking of getting 2 x ev evolve 50s but you have changed my mind. I play pubs and other events acoustic with self triggered drums via a stomp box, doing rooms up from 70-150 people. I have just ordered one of these and the price is $3,800 Aussie dollars. Please tell me that the sound quality and ease of this system is everything I could be looking for? I didn’t have much to go by research wise, and it is a bit of a gamble. Thanks!
Well Gerard, you've seen the video. The only major advantage the EV has over the es1203 is setup & portability. You pay the price in weight with the twin subs. If you can get a small dolly it'll come in handy at times. Saying that, 1es compared to 2 EV's is far more portable and your saving loads of $$. Conectivity wise you've seen what you can hook up to the system and I hope it caters for your needs. The DSP has all you'll need for adjustments. The Evolve is good but I find It sounds LF heavy for a 12" and I constantly have to fight getting the sound right out of the box and the column. The es1203 sounds TRUE and has greater projection and when it comes to volume, it effortlessly leaves the EV behind. I think it would be very close 2 EV's vs 1 es1203. You have a fantastic system on it's way ... trust me
Thanks ever so much mate!!! I have heard only good things, but purchased this purely on the few TH-cam demos I’ve seen and it’s a lot of money to outlay on something I haven’t even tried myself.. Much appreciated!😊
Awesome awesome review. I have a pair of EVOX 12s but looking for an upgrade. would u say a pair of of 1203 will be better than a pair of evox 12s? I also have evox 8s that i use for smaller events. I am thinking pair of 1203 will replace both EVOx 8 and 12? what do you think?
You have great gear already Troy but I think you have far too much. The ES 1203 is better than the Evox 12. A pair of 1203's will replace all you have nicely.
I've just replaced my PAIR OF EVOX 8s with a SINGLE es1203! WOW. Seriously, unless you are playing to over 300 people on a regular basis, you simply do not need a PAIR of these.
Hey guys, thinking of getting a pair of the DB1203 in white for wedding events but have also been thinking about the Evox 12s. Never heard either. 10 months later how are you finding the dbs please. Do they peak early compared to the Evox? What spl are they and how much of a punch do they bring to the party? Which of the 2 would you go for when it comes to R&b hip hop sort of genre so you can feel the bass line? Thank you for you help 😊😊
I purchased a pair of es1203 and wow!! They bump hard!! And to add to that feel it in your gutt punch i got a pair of DB technologies Sub 915 for that little extra bottom end for outdoor gigs.
My man...what do you think of the overall fidelity of the DBtech es1203? So yes, everyone says they play loud. But are they easy on the ears? How do vocals sound? My concern is that a double 12 bottom cab is gonna give you your low end, but how do 8x4" drivers deliver smoothness, clarity, a sense of air and space between all the instruments, lovely vocals, clear, precise and gentle on the ears highs? Thanks man. Also, I'm in the Boston area, where would i even get this unit from and would there be any way to demo it before you buy it? Thanks. I really appreciate your videos and hope you can spend a few minutes replying. THANKS OPAZ!!
I am totally happy with this pa, I cannot fault its clarity. I think it sounds great from the double twelves right up to the very last tweeter. It is not lacking anywhere. The onboard dsp can also help you to get what you wish to extract from this pa Your perception of smoothness, space and air will be totally different to mine. I am satisfied with all that this pa delivers. I don't think I'll ever get rid of it. Might be best to get more feedback from other owners before you pull the trigger and a demo is a must. As for where you can buy it, unfortunately I can't help there Hope this helps
I suggest this as an "alternative option" Kristien rather than "much of an upgrade". This system delivers as your system would but in a different way, maybe a better way. It's a lot more compact, much more mobile friendly and it weighs less than one side of your system. I'm sure it also has much longer throw and dispertion than your current system. Only you can judge as to whether it's an upgrade. Does it have the connectivity you require and is the sound that it produces to your taste?. Ultimately a demo is necessary for you to answer your question.
Nice review cheers. I just compared my new JMix8 to the smaller db es503 and even though both have a 12" speaker and the RCF has 400w more peak power the db wins hands down, the sound is fuller, warmer and way much more low end thump than the RCF! And the es503 can run as a stereo system just like the 1203. The 1203s controls are easier though as they are angled at 45°, on the es503 they are vertical which can be very awkward, Bluetooth works great though. My mixer let me down at a recent gig and the 3 inputs and Bluetooth on the DB saved the day. The poles are great, the Bose L1, EVs will end up in pieces at an Irish wedding. The Bose L1 will last as long as a Paris Fashion Model in a death metal mosh pit, the DB is built like a tank. Anyone falls on the DB they will end up the worse for wear, the Bose and EV may well end up damaged, the Bose for sure. Bass coupling increases the effect of the low end too, as the DB is stacked.
@@opaz. haha, yeah those Bose are great for a high end café or wine bar where the customers have more money than sense, but even the base unit has a high centre of gravity and at 7,000eur for a pair of Bose, I wouldn't be able to afford the coffee 😅
I would recommend the dB1203. It sounds better and is much more powerful. It has so much more to offer for musicians, dj's etc with the configurations of setups and its flexibility with all the options in the extensive onboard DSP.
I don't think it's fair compare those two systems. You can conpare Ev with Db Es602 it's the same power levels. Db Es1203 can be compared with Ant B-Twig 12 pro. Both belong to RCF group factory and have the same power. The mais difference is that Es1203 have double sub and B-Twig 12 pro have a single sub. Both play real loud in exterior but Db Es1203 costs 1900 euros and Ant B-twig 12 pro costs 850 euros in Thomann. I love both and I listen live both, but I want to buy 2 Ant B-twig 12 pro. Have more power that I need for weddings of 300 people, and still have much power for exterior events that I have. Remember they are both made in same factory and for other people like me that can't spend so much money, want a 20kg to carry better than 29 kg sub Ant is a good option. 1400w rms 2800w peak of Ant system is very good power and also have intense bass. Thanks for share your video and point of view of that amazing system.
Been so busy lately and not had much free time. I can sum this up in a few paragraphs without a recorded audio comparison. The EV has very good low end performance for it's very compact size, on some occasions it is too much and needs to be cut back in the DSP. The problems arise with the performance of Mids & HF. These seem to be suffocated and cannot be extracted out of the EV. I find myself trying to achieve a balance that doesn't quite seem to sound right. Even trying tirelessly in the DSP they're still not pronounced as you would expect them to be. The dB has bags of punch and performs extremely well throughout all frequencies. I have no issues at all here. The two subs perform just right as does the column. When it comes to SPL the dB outperforms the EV. Even with a +10 dB head start, the EV cannot catch up with the ES 1203. One annoying thing with the EV is that the limit meters come on I think prematurely and this often makes me feel very uneasy. With the thought that and any point this unit could fail and I tend to back off when I'm sure it has more to offer. Saying this I have no regrets and I still enjoy using the EV for small to mid size events. It's compactness, portability and ease of use are its strengths. The dB is fantastic whether you use it in Mono or split up into stereo in it is a clear winner.
Think I found the answer in the download manual. 2x 7 meter (approx 20 feet) cables for stereo configuration. So my next question is can I set this up with sub in center and each speaker on it's own pole?

Any purchase suggestion, as to, which 2nd sub would go well to match this system if you were splitting the two tops apart and wanted to complete the stereo picture??? It's really important to me other than buying (2) es 1203's for a stereo setup. Peace, Love and Thanks...!!!
Yes the bass has lots of punch and is not overwhelming and boomy. Obviously it doesn't have the weight of an 18" but just to confirm that my idea of punch is the same as your idea punch, again a demo is necessary
Hi there again mate. Just in reference to can earlier comment of mine in regard to this system. I purchased this and used it for a gig and loved it to bits. Fantastic sound and power.!! Second gig, the system completely went into failure mode and shut down. Would not power up.... After returning it to DB tech, they informed me that the drivers in the 2 tops were completely blown and unrepairable. I had only had it 2 weeks and to their credit replaced it with a new system. I did not push it hard at all, and had the main power plugged into a power board along with a few other things including my mixer. Db can’t offer any explanation at this moment as this system is quite new and they don’t know enough about it and have not had one back at the moment. Opaz, can you offer any explanation do you think? It was extremely embarrassing for me to happen during the gig and I had to abort. I love the sound of this unit, but a bit scared of this happening again, and to have to return it twice I may be accused of doing something wrong? Is there something I can do to protect it or do you think it could have been a freak power surge through the venue itself? I had been using it for a couple of weeks before this happened. Any thoughts would be hugely appreciated! Thanks Gerard
Gerard so sorry to hear this. This is a disaster that would scare and embarrass absolutely anybody. I am totally shocked as this is a first for me. I have often used mine and had to turn it down in venues because it was too loud. I have also let mine go to extreme volumes to test (as anybody would) and a neighbour 4 doors away told me to turn the music down. I haven't had any problems at all with mine, I have absolutely no explanation for your system failure. I have never even heard any kind of deterioration or noticed any signs of clipping with my system. Since having it, I've used it at 11 events and it's performed flawlessly, the sound and the volumes are incredible. When you were playing your system, did it cut out for moments at all during that event, did you hear anything unfamiliar with your system, were there any glitches of any sort. Did you hear any pops, crackles, silences or distortion while they were performing. Where would you say your system was during that performance, for example running at 70%, 80% of maximum volume or less? Your eq settings, were you running things flat or otherwise? How long were you playing for before this happened? How many people at the event, indoors or outdoors? does this venue or location have a history of electrical problems, did anybody there mention this? have you ever had any issues with your electrical equipment that you can remember? (not blaming you but any information is vital). Any other pieces of your equipment affected after the shutdown? .. A lot of questions but i am so curious as to the reasons why You can use power surge safety equipment but I am unsure whether this would have helped here. The weak link may have been the drivers but I am still very unsure why the whole system would go into failure because of two drivers blowing. Was the small fuse in the sub blown? Gerard, I take it you had just one es1203 running.
OPAZ Thanks for replying so quickly 🙂 It did absolutely shatter me, I was really enjoying what I had seen and heard so far with the1203, and really thought I had done my money. I am an acoustic singer/guitarist and was just playing in an indoor bar and there probably wasn’t more than 30 people in there at the time. I have barely touched the dsp since I took it out of the box, as everything just sounded perfect the way it was. I had the 2 tops mounted on stands and was running it in stereo mode. I had the volume level just below 0 on the unit itself, and Allen and Heath mixer was controlling everything else, and the volume on that would have been on about 3 or 4 , which would be at 10.00 o’clock. The eqs were all quite flat. I ran a power board to an extension lead that was plugged into the wall, and into this I plugged the main from the 1203, my mixer, and a couple of 9volt adapters that controlled a few pedals, so my mixer controlled everything. I had been playing for about 2 hours when I heard the unit crackle a couple of times during a song. I looked at the back of it and noticed it was flashing ‘system failure ‘ before shutting itself down completely. The next day I plugged it in and it actually powered up and I thought everything might be okay again, but I wasn’t getting any sound coming out, although it indicated power was going into the unit. My power board and anything else I was using on the night is all fine. I was just using the one unit as it is all I have anyway. I don’t know if the venue has a history of power problems, but know of 2 other people that play there and they were staggered when I told them what happened. I have a gig there in 2 nights and am feeling a little bit apprehensive, and will be using my new pa. In Aus we use the 240 volt power cable that was supplied with the unit, and I think the other European one is 110 volt that also came with it. The tech guy at dB was taking a stab in the dark, but thought maybe it could have something to do with it. If this happens again a second time, I’ll have to ask for a refund and buy 2xevolve 50s. Thanks again for your input and I am so glad that your story with this is so different to mine. It does hearten me greatly!
Wow Gerard, I don't know what to say. I really don't know what I would do in your position, if I soon had another gig. Your reputation and future bookings are on the line here and maybe not being able to perform as relaxed as you should do if you had total and complete faith in your equipment. I think I have successfully had 80+ hours of use from mine and no problems. I myself will look further into the issues that you have unfortunately experienced. I've had a mic fail and I thought that was a disaster. My heart goes out to you especially as I have used mine for weddings and i would be mortified if that had happened to me, not being able to provide entertainment on somebodys most important day of their life in front of hundreds of guests. As I have 2 units, the worst case scenario is that one may fail, although saying that it just isn't good enough to have anything fail especially at that price and being new. In your case I would rig up a backup and if anything failed again I would agree at going with the EV.
Gerard how about the fuse in the sub. When my units arrived there was a bright yellow tag hanging out of the rear where the fuse is situated, next to the power switch and it stated caution to make sure you have the correct fuse inserted before powering up. My units came with 2 additional fuses in a polythene packet and the correct fuse (according to your countrys voltage power requirements) needed to be in place before powering up. Did your unit arrive with this information?
OPAZ yes I did see this , I didn’t insert or change a fuse at all.... Perhaps you could be right? But you would think that , but I got 2 weeks use out of it before anything happened. You would think that if something was wrong it would have happened immediately?
You can increase the frequency output which achieves what you are asking. Watch my DB ES 1203 Demo upload. At the very end of the video you can see what I'm talking about. I dropped the output of the LF/sub, this can also be increased above 0.0 if needed Hope this helps
I say the only all in one compact set that can give the db es1203 a real challenge is Ld system curve 500 ts. I heard it and I was super impressed big time!
Jose, I do like the curve. Heard it maybe 2+ years ago and it sounded good. I never purchased it but I was impressed. You don't hear much about the system anywhere. I liked the idea with the top array and how you can configure it with different drivers Cons of the pa, heavy sub, back to poles and cables again, lacking inputs/channels, lacking dsp, bluetooth & reverb. These things are common in pa's today, which is why I stuck with my ES. The ES splitting into a stereo pa has worked wonders for me, when needed If you need a great sounding pa and don't require inputs, the TS is worth a go!
Tried uploading songs with pa test demo's ages ago. They are detected and infringe owner copyrights and uploads are swiftly removed. Pre 2018 uploads are safe, if challenged the video stays but the audio is removed That is why I have to be very careful when uploading songs Dj's now can't upload vlogs of events also because of this. It is seen as advertising. In other words sorry, can't upload that song!
181 goes much deeper and has a lot more wallop. The ES is more of a great Mid/LF performer. As in volume that's difficult as the 181 has the sub wallop/impact but the ES has more of a musical Mid/LF performance
@@opaz. Appreciate you comparing apples to oranges with fair detail. Would you be able to compare the ES sub to any other subs out there? KSub? RCF 705? DXS12? Would 1 RCF 705 and 2x RCF HD10s compare to the output of 1 es1203?
@@opaz. Wow... That is pretty crazy. In terms of weddings, we don't need lower. Sometimes we do need louder though. And sound quality and good control of that sound is important. So you still recommend this 1203 over small setups like 2 rcf hd10s with an rcf 705 or 2 rcf 702s for lows? hard to deny the benefits of the 1203 though - looks, compact for loading in/out and transport and ease of setup/breakdown. But really, the look is just stunning.
The 1203 is powerful, has a small footprint, great mixer section with so much flexibility in an all-in-one compact unit. It also looks much tidier at weddings especially
@@opaz. thanks mate. Its not easy to buy speakers without being able to try them out. In the end I'm going for 2 x 812+f1 and 2 x evolve 50 (for smaller gigs, banquets, cocktails, etc). Already have dxr10 and ekx18 sub plus alto 8" and 10", so should have all events covered as I never have bigger than 200 and hardly bigger than 120. Thanks for all your videos!
@@opaz. i dont think even DB could explain, it's not in any way "horn or half horn or def not semi horn loaded" it's a simple reflex design with an angled lower 12"...i just wanted a 2nd or 3rd opinion 😉
Very good question ... a tough one... I suggest two 802's simply because it will be effective enough (coverage), it will do the job and it looks tidier than one unit. The biggest danger is if you buy one ES1203, you will want to buy another. Hope this helps Is this for DJ use or Band/Musician?
Thanks for answering! I totally agree with you on the danger of buying one ES1203! ;) Another advantage would be that IF a system fails, you 'ld still have one as a back-up (though I don't think those chances are very big, do you?)... I'm a (mobile) DJ, beginner. At the moment I organise and DJ at modern Argentinean-Tango danceevents, playing a mixed format of old, modern- and non-tangomusic (i.e. jazz, blues, latin, world music) and always end the event with approximately half an hour of louder dance music. :) The venues we dance in are mostly small to medium sized halls/floors (say 10m x 20m, or 15m x 15m), with an average of 40-90 dancers. I also get asked to play weddings and birthdayparties and want to be able to accomodate those too. Good sound and portability are important. I fancy the compact columns. My budget was ~1000 euros, but the more I read and watch the reviews, the more I start to accept that I would have to spend more, around 1500 euros... :) An option would be to combine 1 ES503 with 1 ES802. The ES802 is louder and cheaper, but the ES503 provides a nice DSP+display, Bluetooth and the option to use only 1 ES503 on smaller venues with the two tops in stereo.
The dance events and the DJ'ing is a good mix. Nice to hear you're getting the best of both worlds and workflow is coming in through your efforts. You mentioned the obvious, the back-up suggestion... believe me, be prepared to expect the unexpected. The 802's will cater for your needs. All the very best
I compared 2 evolve 50's to one DB1203 today. I know they are not in the same league, but figured 2 ev's would be more comparable with one 1203. I believe the Evolves sounded way better. Seemed like the 1203 only began to shine at higher level, but was still missing something. EV's sounded better in my opinion. Both very solid systems. I do like the fact that the 1203 tops can be separated. Both systems super solid!!!
Never even got to a point where the 1203 limited, but the bluetooth wouldn't allow for anymore gain. THings may be different running through a mixer. Just my 2 cents for anyone who cares. Thanks for your great review!
You can change Fir filters via firmware and get a different sound signature. When you compare 2 system have you placed the evolve far between 2 unit or near between the 2
Thanks for sharing this review. Really useful info. How does the ES1203 compare to the EVOX12 in tone?
so impressed with this system, demo this and I have too say this is the best hands down point source array system on the market that Ive demo. thanks for the overview. looking forward to the sound test.

$2900 but this system 2 of them $6000 you could do 300 ppl inside half that out doors
Please go to TRINITYPRODUCTIONS.COM & ask for JOHN. He has the absolute best price if you live in U.S.A.
centerstage entertainment I just got mine for 2100$ from pssl.com
EV 50 has a unique brightness on their highs frequencies. Have you compare the two speakers? What would you say about the sound quality and n this aspect?
The Evolve 50 has very poor mids, to the extent that I would say "no mids at all". Highs are fine and lows incredibly good for a 12" sub
Hello boss, is this system (just one) enough for 150ppl dance party, medium size room?
And how about vocal effects as reverb, delay… it’s included in the mixer?.
Thanks!

Yes carlitos, the Evox is very good but the dB is much better with comprehensive DSP and many other options onboard.
AWESOME REVIEW OPAZ! I bought 2 of these from TRINITY PRODUCTIONS ( HIGHLY RECOMMEND) and I can't wait to use them for my next gig.
how have you been liking them? what have you used in the past to compare?

How does it compare to the rcf evox 12? I’m torn on which to purchase
Thanks again 🙂
agreed, but make sure to adjust the shutter on the camera, so we can see it.

The onboard EQ will assist you in dialling in the sound that you require
I have never listened to a j8 so can't comment on the details. All I can say regarding the j8 is that it will be more portable (lighter) and maybe cheaper. The j8 also has less power and only a single 12" sub
A pair of j8's vs a pair of 1203's . .. My money is definitely on the 1203
Hope this helps
@@opaz. thanks for your response, much appreciated. Think I'm going to go for the pair of ES1203, if I can get them.

Guests/clients do not care, it is just the dj that cares
Running both, I have very good output throughout, on a very good sounding stereo PA with backup. In total the weight is a breeze at 130 lb and the setup is quick and SO easy
OPAZ very nice!!!
hi. if i wanted to buy two db systems would the db1002s be better? even cheaper? the 1203 would seem more powerful but the only difference I see is the integrated mixer. the rest of the components and measures are the same. did you compare the model 1002 against the 1203?
Brother what is better rcf evox 12 or dB technology 1203
dB 1203
Hello friend, how are you? I really like watching your videos talking about sound, I think you understand a lot, I just bought a Db ES1203 sound system and it's about to arrive, I heard you talk a lot about this db sound, is it really good? in comparison with the EV evolve 50 you said it is much higher, have you compared it with the RCF EVOX 12? I would like to know your opinion, thank you very much and congratulations on your videos
Thank you for your kind comments, much appreciated
I bought my dB ES1203 after owning the Evox 12 one year earlier and the Evolve 50 one month earlier.
The Evolve is good for (present day) portability & no wires setup
Recent hype about the Evox I think is down to a LOT of paid advertising, it is a dated PA in many ways. The Evox would not be the best choice in 2022/23> for a busy mobile dj
The Evox does not sound bad, build is solid but as a PA it is extremely under equipped. The Evolve sound performance has very poor/weak mids. The ES1203 is a good sounding PA, only the weight (in 2024) is a drawback
The ES1203 is still a bargain (new) price buy and it has been for the past 3+ years. It is powerful and well equipped which is why I still have mine. I hope you're happy with your choice
Hey Opaz. Do you still use the es1203 ?
Just sold my L1pro32 & sub 2’s
Like them, but not ££££££ much.
Plus too nervous with drunk clients who don’t care.
I’ve still a pair of bose S1’s and a pair of rcf710s
I use to have the Thomann pyrit 212a bins.
Not like in the states where every rooms seems a ballroom for 500 😂
Cheers
Cheers fella. Mucho appreciated.
Keep up the good work 🙌🍻
You're a madman! I love it! Can't wait to watch this video!
😅
I've emailed tech support and have not heard back - hoping you can answer this question.
"deciding between the ES1203 vs the ES1002. I see the 1002 has a dial to adjust system presets (Flat - Bass boost - Bass reduction - Playback - Speech - Long throw - HPF 80 Hz - HPF 120 Hz)
Does the 1203 have the same options - mainly HPF? If not - it seems the 1002 is more suited to work with subs and the 1203 is a better standalone unit."
I've read the manual for both but I can't seem to get a clear answer on this.
The 1203 can just as easily work with subs
Hallo OPAZ....just one question.if you have time to answer...tell me if 1203 is still good buy in 2023.Or do you think that something better has hit the market......I am buying my next week if everything is OK.
By the way....love your videos.
Thanks
The ES1203 is definitely still a good buy in 2023. It is better than the EVOX 12, is more affordable and has much better all-round spec!
@@opaz. thanks.....I thought so.
Thanks
And keep good work.
👍🏼
how many people can you do with 1 of this at maximum volume in stereo mode?
so these do have a high pass filter which make it easy to hook up a sub like a KW181? Or would you run out to the KW181? Or is that HPF only for mics? And is the feedback elimination only active on line 1 as well? Lots of questions - I am reading the manual while I wait for a response
You just run out your sub, did you find the other answer
Not sure - what I read didnt make sense without having the unit to experiment on.
Many events lately I've been using 1 Evox & 1 ES
@@opaz. I don't understand this? why two radically different units? I mean, you do such a good job picking and buying gear - why half-ass it and look so unprofessional with these two systems? It's literally been bothering me since you said it 5 months ago...
The problem is, we are often very critical about things we buy as it's our own money. We are also very critical of how things look when we set up because we take pride in the way things look and our appearance
We are also very critical as DJ's of how things sound because we are delivering a service to a client and we want to look, sound and be professional.
Good morning John. The ES 1203 system will definitely sound better
@@opaz. Thank you for the tip!
@@opaz. Other than the weight differential, have you any thoughts of the DB Technologies ES 1203 versus the RCF Evox 12? Thank you again in advance!

You have great gear already Troy but I think you have far too much. The ES 1203 is better than the Evox 12. A pair of 1203's will replace all you have nicely.

The onboard dsp can also help you to get what you wish to extract from this pa
Your perception of smoothness, space and air will be totally different to mine. I am satisfied with all that this pa delivers. I don't think I'll ever get rid of it. Might be best to get more feedback from other owners before you pull the trigger and a demo is a must. As for where you can buy it, unfortunately I can't help there

OPAZ yes I will definitely have to demo this system, weight is starting to be and issue with my current setup. Thanks
did these ever shut down ? while playing loud ?
Never
Nice review cheers.
This is a great comment Tone, love it. You got it all sorted 👍🏼
"Last as long as a Paris Fashion Model" that cracked me up! 😆
@@opaz. haha, yeah those Bose are great for a high end café or wine bar where the customers have more money than sense, but even the base unit has a high centre of gravity and at 7,000eur for a pair of Bose, I wouldn't be able to afford the coffee 😅
☕ 😆
Great review--just adjust the shutter on your camera to fix if screen flashes.

Would You recommend the Evox 12 or the dB1203? Which one sounds better?
Didn't get around to that side by side comparison yet?
The dB is fantastic whether you use it in Mono or split up into stereo in it is a clear winner.
how long is/are the cable/s that come with it - basically asking how far can I spread the tops apart?
Think I found the answer in the download manual. 2x 7 meter (approx 20 feet) cables for stereo configuration. So my next question is can I set this up with sub in center and each speaker on it's own pole?

Each speakon cable is 24 feet long
Yes
Is 1 really enough for weddings (100-175 people) or will I want 2?
2 is best I suppose, as it's always good to have more than you need.
1 of these will be more than comfortable for a wedding of this size.
Any purchase suggestion, as to, which 2nd sub would go well to match this system if you were splitting the two tops apart and wanted to complete the stereo picture??? It's really important to me other than buying (2) es 1203's for a stereo setup. Peace, Love and Thanks...!!!
uses same sub for both tops. Unless, you have 4 tops, then 2 subs.
Opaz Does the sub in stereo mode give nice punch bass?
Yes the bass has lots of punch and is not overwhelming and boomy. Obviously it doesn't have the weight of an 18" but just to confirm that my idea of punch is the same as your idea punch, again a demo is necessary
OPAZ compared to the evox 12 sub? I had the evox 12 and now have evolve 50 but it limit too fast
I have the es1203.
Impressive
👍
Are you still in love with that system? I might change my evolve 50 and my big rig for just a pair of theses
Oh yes, great system, still love it
Thanks, just sold evolve and ordered es1203
👍
Pierre-Luc Bareil how you getting on?
Any other pieces of your equipment affected after the shutdown? .. A lot of questions but i am so curious as to the reasons why
You can use power surge safety equipment but I am unsure whether this would have helped here. The weak link may have been the drivers but I am still very unsure why the whole system would go into failure because of two drivers blowing. Was the small fuse in the sub blown? Gerard, I take it you had just one es1203 running.
OPAZ Thanks for replying so quickly 🙂
It did absolutely shatter me, I was really enjoying what I had seen and heard so far with the1203, and really thought I had done my money.
Hello, its possible to set the volume of the sub separately?
You can increase the frequency output which achieves what you are asking. Watch my DB ES 1203 Demo upload. At the very end of the video you can see what I'm talking about.
I dropped the output of the LF/sub, this can also be increased above 0.0 if needed
Hope this helps
Have you heard the DB technologies Es 1002 ? Looks exactly the same
Never heard the 1002. Yes looks the same but 2400W Peak Power vs 1800W.
Also the 1203 is Stereo
It's the same system without the possibility to split the column in stereo L/R
I say the only all in one compact set that can give the db es1203 a real challenge is Ld system curve 500 ts. I heard it and I was super impressed big time!
Thanks Ramon, I'll have to give it a listen
@@opaz. es1203 vs of systems curve 500 ts?
@@opaz. well, I have heard it, wanna purchase it. May you please play Dark Horse by Katy Perry at -10dB volume and upload. Humble request.
Jose, I do like the curve. Heard it maybe 2+ years ago and it sounded good. I never purchased it but I was impressed.
You don't hear much about the system anywhere. I liked the idea with the top array and how you can configure it with different drivers
Cons of the pa, heavy sub, back to poles and cables again, lacking inputs/channels, lacking dsp, bluetooth & reverb. These things are common in pa's today, which is why I stuck with my ES. The ES splitting into a stereo pa has worked wonders for me, when needed
If you need a great sounding pa and don't require inputs, the TS is worth a go!
Tried uploading songs with pa test demo's ages ago. They are detected and infringe owner copyrights and uploads are swiftly removed. Pre 2018 uploads are safe, if challenged the video stays but the audio is removed
That is why I have to be very careful when uploading songs
Dj's now can't upload vlogs of events also because of this. It is seen as advertising. In other words sorry, can't upload that song!
How much did you pay for the es1203???
£1887
Cual es mejor? Db 1203 o evox 12
ES1203
I know I'll get shit for this - but how would you compare the sound and volume from the ES LF drivers (sub) to the sound and volume of a KW181?
181 goes much deeper and has a lot more wallop. The ES is more of a great Mid/LF performer. As in volume that's difficult as the 181 has the sub wallop/impact but the ES has more of a musical Mid/LF performance
@@opaz. Appreciate you comparing apples to oranges with fair detail. Would you be able to compare the ES sub to any other subs out there? KSub? RCF 705? DXS12?
Would 1 RCF 705 and 2x RCF HD10s compare to the output of 1 es1203?
ES is equivalent to 2-3 x KSubs
@@opaz.
Is this louder than a Bose f1 812 (1000w+1000w)?
I've never listened to the 812
@@opaz. thanks mate.
Cheers Miles 👍🏻
Can you explain how DB claim the bass cab is semi horn loaded ?
In a nutshell, no 😂
I'll leave that to the experts!
@@opaz. i dont think even DB could explain, it's not in any way "horn or half horn or def not semi horn loaded" it's a simple reflex design with an angled lower 12"...i just wanted a 2nd or 3rd opinion 😉

$1000 more for that db. It's a monster and it better be.

Two ES802's or one ES1203? :)
Very good question ... a tough one... I suggest two 802's simply because it will be effective enough (coverage), it will do the job and it looks tidier than one unit. The biggest danger is if you buy one ES1203, you will want to buy another. Hope this helps
Is this for DJ use or Band/Musician?
An option would be to combine 1 ES503 with 1 ES802.
The 503 & 802 will and can work. I often use one 1203 and one Evolve .. no complaints, everyone's happy 😉
when are we going to hear them with some reggae music on it.
Ha ha, stay tuned!
thank, will wait.

Is there any column speaker under 40 kg louder than this one?
Maybe Bose L1 Pro32 with dual sub2? within 55kg, maybe.
if you need 2x systems.. then 1x JBL SRX828SP + 2x Bose L1 Pro32 (no sub2)
