Golden age of televised snooker. The grand old master lays a deadly snooker, follows up with a killer blow break. Perfect commentary from the great Jack Karnehm and John Spencer.
Ray Reardon was one of the finest all-round snooker players in the history of the game,.... brilliant safety player, and wonderful potter,...and a real gent
Reardon the best all-round player of all-time. Consistency, temperament, potting, safety, creativity, longevity, tactical, mental strength, popularity etc.....Reardon had no weak links in his game
Was there ever a greater representative of his sport than Ray Reardon, or a better sports presenter than the late David Vine. It brings back memories to hear him utter in his inimitable style the words "Six times champion of the world Ray Reardon "
An excellent clip with two great men, the brilliant Ray Reardon, who was one of my childhood idols, a gentleman and an all time snooker great, who is still going strong. And the late David Vine, what a wonderful presenter and man he was too, RIP David.
Yes he was slightly passed it by now by was still ranked 6 at the seasons end however Reardons marriage collapsed that summer. That finished him as he hardly won a match the following season
Thank you for sharing this video, and what a great interview, interesting thought about paying to turn pro instead of qualifying for it. I think he talked about Numpties without actually saying the word. Still a great legend.
Great match to watch between different generations . Ray Reardon had class and composure under pressure . Love his set up to yellow, starting with last red red to black. Black to yellow is class shot under pressure
Fred Davis in 1978, Ray Reardon in 1985 and Steve Davis in 2010: that last hurrah smells sweet! Hendry never really had a proper "last hurrah", I believe that's why he's back; he wants that last sweet moment.
The aura of the steady master playing safety shots til they hung themselves (as Steve Davis put it) was actually a very underrated potter! Great from tight angles into the middle pockets and a decent long game too!
Wrong sport, too working class, rugby league gets similar treatment. Equivalent achievements in cricket or rugby union and he would certainly be a KBE. Even Joe Davis didn’t get one
When Ray was brought in as a pundit 2 years ago at the Welsh open i couldnt help but think the guys knowledge and insight even in his 80s was being completely wasted. He has said himself that no1 calls him anymore. He has probably forgot more about snooker than what most people will ever know. Its a bit late for that now though as he is coming 90 years old. I would still have him in the studio over Reanne Evans any day though.
All good points but perhaps Ray missed the boat by not getting involved in punditry before he retired and was then regarded as too old by the time of his retirement. He was used as a guest commentator on a few mid-80's episodes of Pot Black IIRC but I don't remember him being particularly memorable so maybe he just never got asked again off the back of that. These are probably just two of various reasons, though, in all reality.
He certainly played it sufficiently hard so as to leave it near the top cushion should he have missed - which resulted in him giving away a free ball. Served him right. That's why a miss rule is needed.
A great example of being the top man in your field and also being a nice man. So much to be said for that, Ray was a geezer.
RIP Ray Reardon 1932-2024
i always enjoyed watching Ray. a great champion.
What a superb interview by two guys who were the best at their jobs.
The late great David Vine ...... RIP......
Great interview. Ray is timeless and you just know he would love to be in the mix with todays players. He would be a hard man to beat.

I admired the class of Ray Reardon. He is such a brilliant snooker play with such a good sense of humour.
Ray Reardon was one of the finest all-round snooker players in the history of the game,.... brilliant safety player, and wonderful potter,...and a real gent
What a wonderful sportsman & legend.
Vine & Reardon, what a great couple of gents!
RIP Mr Ray Reardon..Legend

I loved those snooker days. Incredible personalities

No other player in the game comes close to Ray for cueball control knowing the angles and laying snookers. He was a master.
I don't think anyone has ever had as tough a defensive game as Ray Reardon did, he could lay down a snooker any time he needed to.
U r right. he is Lord of Snooker. Every newbie must go and learn from Him Still at the of 86 he gives 8 hours daily to the game
He deserved to be knighted. A professional, top man. My favourite R.IP.
Great stuff by both RR and JP. A great example of sportsmanship conversation after a tight game.
Ray was probably the most intimidating player, even Alex didn’t give him shit.
Ray Reardon, what a player, well past his best here, but also what a gentleman. Also, I agree great to see David Vine again.
Yes he was slightly passed it by now by was still ranked 6 at the seasons end however Reardons marriage collapsed that summer. That finished him as he hardly won a match the following season
What an absolute lovely man great snooker player and such a funny person no more of them now

David vine brilliant sadly missed

One of the true greats of the game.
Why never SIR Ray Reardon????
Wrong sport, too working class, rugby league gets similar treatment. Equivalent achievements in cricket or rugby union and he would certainly be a KBE. Even Joe Davis didn’t get one
Absolutely criminal that he didn't get more recognition!!
Just brilliant.
Class. That's the word. Class.
Dracula is some character! A legend of sport. These days it's all money and hype.
The old snooker players had so much style.
Today's players are robots with £ signs in their eyes
Ray and John fabulous gentleman!
2:08 onwards shows Reardon much greater than Spencer
Ray worked in the mines and was in one that collapsed.it was a miracle he got out alive he was stuck under a huge boulder.
Born:David Martin Vine, January 3, 1935, Newton Abbot, Devon, England
A true legend a master of his trade and always a gentleman.
He was is and always would be the Emperor of Snooker. Ray wish we could be .01% of u
A really great watch 👍
Thank you for this video!!!
❤️ Ray Reardon 😀❤️
I never realised Wes Streeting played Ray Reardon at the Crucible
What a gentleman!

A true gentleman
Absolute legend
And how bad were the colour tv,s at the time.
These 2 were a comedy show afterwards!
You don't get interviews like this in snooker nowadays, funny, polite, experienced and interesting. Today's interviews are moronic.
What did JP say at 7.20secs I doubt..........?? missed the joke.
"I doubted whether he had a father or not then" i.e. a bastard for getting the free ball :-)
@@RogerJJSmith oh I see thanks!
The yoda of snooker.
Easy for me but harder for you 🤣🤣
He was 51 here I think
Ray was born in October 1932 so would actually have been 59 in this clip.
Sorry I was referring to 1985 but yeah it'd still be wrong lol
Very Funny
Parrot would never have made it as a comedian
Parrot definitely missed the red on purpose

Why do they call this guy Dracula??
