Personally, I wouldn't sell high-end items on Ebay, nor deal with Goldin. I find the risk with the former from scammers and people with buyer's remose too great, and I don't respect Goldin auctions at all. To me, Goldin are the auction equivalent of the show 'Hardcore Pawn'. They don't strike me as people I wish to deal with - and the Netflix series did little to change this view.
For high end, I'd only sell through established auction houses (that have been around for 50+ years, and/or whose experts are well respected, and who have their qualifications out there for all to see). If I'm leaving money on the table by not dealing with the likes of Ebay, Goldin, and co., then so-be-it.

I'm almost exclusively a sports card guy (deeeeeep into it for half my life) but all the topics you talk about the principles are the same.
Also it was Shyne who sold LP the booster box and it was wrapped by BBCE. Lot more to that story. It would make a great video topic.

Great content (as usual) - I had always imagined that for selling high end items, that an in-person meeting in a public place, preferable a bank, would mitigate chances of being scammed for both parties. Thoughts are that If a buyer was legitimately interested in purchasing a high-end item, they would have no concerns with traveling to my location & agree to meet & transfer funds while in a bank lobby. This would seem to also offer the buyer some protection as well, as they would have the opportunity to inspect the item in person before purchasing the item. Seems to be a win-win situation.

You are right. A grading company for sealed boxes would be nice. But noone seems to have the confidence to authenticate sealed boxes. It is too risky I suppose

The Logan Paul/GI Joe thing was an April fools joke for the Sports Card Investor channel.
BBCE is the only company I know of with a good reputation of authenticating sealed boxes. Not sure if they do TCG or not though. They’re the standard for vintage sports cars boxes.

I have a sports card collection… I will sell them at some point… I’m thinking to just sell smal portions thru time on craigslist to locale people cash meeting at a walmart parking lot at some point.. cash deal…. no names, adresss.. what is ur thought on that ? I’ve done it as a trial basis the last year a few times and it has worked out great...
If you have baseball I do consignment of them. Mainly graded but also sell ungraded ones.

I think it was Logan Paul that had the gi Joe cards. Apparently the guy who authenticated the box was there with him when it turned out to be fake
With 20%+ in transaction fees I can not really consider collectibles as investments. 0,2% annual fees for index funds is enough fees for me
Sellers don't normally pay that fee. Buying you just pay what the game is worth, fees included
Ill meet at the police station preferably, especially for my expensive items. Cheaper stuff ill meet there or bank or some public space.

Every psa graded unopened pack is first authenticated by BBCE and steve hart. Hes rhe one who "authenticated" the logan paul sealed case.
When someone sends an unopened pack it goes to psa then to bbce and Steve hart then back to psa for grading.
I was trying to see what heritage rates were for about 20 MS63 MS64 early 1900s gold Indians 2.50 to 20 dollars. They were flippant and dismissive. Screw them.
So much shilling on ebay with collectibles. Sports Cards specifically. People set false comps to try and manipulate the market.
I take 15% off of auctioned ebay comps to account for that.
