Assassins Creed Japan, Sony does what Ubiwon't.
I’m glad Ubisoft didn’t do Japan. As that would be expected. AC games makes Assassins out of unlikely characters. Making a Japan setting with samurai would be redundant.

This is looking perfect for me-
Beautiful world, diegetic exploration mechanics, precise lethal combat, ninja stealth and fear, grounded setting with no fantasy, Japanese VO, black & white mode. I just hope the HUD is customisable and can be turned off without hindering core gameplay mechanics.
Feel like that's what they were going for with the HUD integration into the world

But at the moment most of it is not, only the direction and waypoint systems are in world.
@@ChrisWTube The HUD is dynamic and only comes up during combat or when picking items. I am sure there is going to be an immersive setting like in HZD and GoW where you can turn every HUD element off and then bring them up only when you absolutely need it by tapping the touchpad.
Since I was a child I have dreamed of a game just like this! I loved bushido blade and tenchu and this is like a combination of the those two, and yes I tried Sekiro I liked it but was very hard.

This looks awesome. Only day 1 base PS4 for me so might wait and play it on ps5 instead. 🤞 a bit of optimisation for better graphics and frame rate. Come September I’ll be playing cyberpunk for god knows how long. That’s a game that I can’t skip day 1 (Xbox one x version for me there).

I’m with you on this. This game will run like a dream on PS5. TLOU2 will be the last game I’ll get on PS4 before the PS5 launches.
Well it's wierd, having an Xbox X doesn't have any meaningful advantage over the s, while the PS4 pro received a bunch of beautiful exclusives that look amazing on it even compared to the og PS4.

I almost cried watching the showcase. The last game that made feel like this was Neir automata and I played that game 7 months after release. This game it going to be a generation defining game. Where all knowledge of the system will be put to use here.

It’s basically the AC Japan we been wanted from Ubisoft...the game looks amazing but the combat is nothing new

I don`'t understand? How have you imagined a samurai game set in feudal japan? What did you expext? I give me a game that changed the generation for the last 10 years? ZBoTW, Witcher3 and even Cyberpunk2077 have mechanics and gameplay that we have already seen in other games, what we expect is for those mechanics to be refined and further improved upon and the story, open-world to be a great experience.
Games genres do not radically change, but are always improved upon. will you like to play a AAA game samurai with a light saber? that will be inovation but it will make no sense from a creative perspective.

Of all the influences mentioned, and none of that is a bad thing, crib the best ideas and make a great game, not enough people are saying how it looks like HZD also. Either way, a must buy ofc.
I thought it looked amazing. I loved all the ideas for immersion such as the wind direction showing where to go.
It was unfortunate that the PS5 demo came out the day before, because although Ghost looks amazing for a PS4 game, it looks far inferior. I can't wait to see what's in store for the PS5 version as this game deserves to be played on superior hardware
I didn't watch the State of Play. I was sold on GOT from the moment I saw the reveal trailer. I can't wait to play the game. It looks great!
Hey Max! RAN and Kagemusha are in full crayola saturated colors and likely are more representative of Kurosawa’s cinematic vision then many of his other films as he never considered going back to Black and white or even conservative color palettes after. 13 Assassins is a beautiful homage, in color, to Seven Samurai.

Feudal Japan is actually the only era i would like to have a game based of, Ghost of Tsushima is the first AAA western game about feudal Japan that tryies to be faithful to te actual historical events. Even the japanese games about themselves are allways filled with fiction. A lot of people didn't like the combat, but the combat in this game pretty realistic tbh, even the way he walks was taken from kenjutsu
I really wish Sony'd venture beyond dire, dower third person stealth/action. It was old a year ago, game looks fine but I feel like I've played it a few times over.

Imagine thinking every third person action game is the same. This game was absolutely needed for a long time, it looks like an evolution on the original AC formula in Japanese setting, innovating on the open world exploration aspects and realistic looking methodical combat.
Dreams, Gran Turismo Sport, Concrete Genie, MediEvil remaster, Everybody's Golf, Pretty much their PSVR slate, Knack, Helldivers, Resogun.
Kind of akin to Shadow of the Colossus/Last Guardian with the minimalist Open World. This style is completely underrated.
The game looks very interesting, and more like it's own thing than "just an AC in Japan, not made by Ubisoft". I personally think that's over-simplifying the concept they seem to be going for, which is a world that's both an artistic homage and an atmospheric world to immerse yourself in...
Plus the game don't seem to have traditional XP or skill points. I mean that does count for something C:

btw guys and gals.. you really really really need to fix your audio lag/cut off.. its gotten so bad that i refuse to watch them since i constantly miss the first two words when someone interjects due to the delay or something. fix the stream audio and i'll be back cuz i love beyond!
I’m wondering if we’ll get another sucker punch morality system. They differentiated the ghost gameplay from the samurai gameplay by calling it dishonorable. Could be something there.
Kyle Key I totally get that, but they explained the gameplay in a way where you choose which way you want to play. That’s why they showed the different ways to approach combat scenarios. The way of the samurai or the ghost. They also talked about how different outfits are tailored to those different ways you can play.

I honestly don't get it. Yeah it's the prettiest game I've ever seen, but it just looks like a samurai far cry. Idk. Kinda generic. Even Second Son looked less generic. But it's reaaaallllly pretty.

TalentRoller 44 BOTW looked like every other nintendo game. Gow was generic 3rd person walking simulator. Sekiro was reskinned Dark souls.
Btw, these are not my words, these are the words of people like the one who has commented that GOT looks generic, even before they have actually played the game.

How tf is zelda breath of the wild like every other nintendo game? they saying mario, pokemon or animal crossing is like zelda? tf. and gow a walking simulator what a joke? It has a single shot camera the whole game, with greate gameolay with the axe as it essentially is mjolnir in many ways, the unique atreus mechanic etc. Sekiro is nothing like dark souls at all too. The combat is very different from souls. Its not rpg, it has multiple stages where the enmy difficulty increases and attack pattern changes, with the combat being heavily focused and rewarded based on timing and managing your and enemy's balance. I'm convinced the idiots who said such things have never played those games at all. But you do have a point with people saying that with GOT before it comes out. Well I'll wait it out and see.

I would love to turn off the HUD and play in black and white with Japanese voice track, and that beautiful music playing! will be incredible. Feel like Im watching a movie. That could be on my 2nd play through. Cant believe I would love to play a game in black and white.
last time i played BoW i had a mini map heat sensor noise sensor hearts loved they removed that from ghost of tsushima

and what does hzd reminds you of? what did HZD innovate excluding the Dinosaurs-robots ? But the game was amazing. So do not brainlessly compare products (games, cars, etc) just because they look the same means it is a bad thing.........................................................and there is not much you can innovate when your game is set in reality! reality is constant! and every games set in reality will look the same, but the difference is in the presentation.

I saw 1 hand dismembership...Kinda disappointed you're not able to slice people in half (at different various angles, ala Metal Gear Revengeance) of behead them
Also, the game looks great, from far away, but it seems to fall apart quickly once you get up medium close to things. Rock Geometry looks basic, textures don't look on par to other Sony titles
Scott Koppinger yeah kinda agree with ya there! I was fully looking forward to dismembering /disemboweling my enemies in this game. We’ll have to wait and see more gameplay to confirm the “visceralness” of GOT.

Hmm, there's a lot of praise and assumptions going on with this game that to me came across as a fairly barren world with overly simple gameplay. I love fuedal Japan so that's why I'm here, but can't help but think it's already getting overhyped.
Well, we might just be wearing some jade-colored lenses from poor games and lots of bad news in the last couple of months. Sucker Punch is good at making stories (from my experience). So just stay hopeful, rent it if you don't want to buy, and have some fun. Isn't that we all want from a video game?

I have to say - Max and Brian always feel like they should be in another show... which is Statler and which Waldorf? I think they’re even sucking the Beyond! out of Jonathan. They always tend to be subversively undermining things.. It’s just little comments they make along the way.... perhaps it’s just that they’re jaded after too long in the business. This game looks dope to me... we don’t need to hear their hang ups...
