the argument about low internal validity can be counter-argued- the fact that qualitative data showed that people were laughing nervously to people having seizures suggests they did believe the shocks were real as these signs could not be faked
I suppose because Perry (2012) identified that many people thought the shocks were not real and Milgram's assistant at the time (Murata) split the participants into doubters and believers and found that the believers gave less intensity shocks suggests that some people genuinely thought they were real and others didn't - their behaviour depended on their belief/disbelief. Either way it questioned the validity of the results.
