I have spent a lot of time in both Danang and Hoi An. I think they are great places to live. I go between them and Thailand for 6 months at a time. Vietnam is so so affordable

I’ve just returned from 2 awesome months in Thailand and Vietnam. I’m back in Sydney and it’s freezing and to be honest very boring. No entertainment, ridiculously expensive. Crazy real estate prices. Over governed and policed. Da Nang is looking very appealing for a new home. Not sure if I can live there full time but may give it a try. Your not missing anything in Oz M8.

Do it Glenn! My girlfriend and I moved to Da Nang about 6 months ago from the US (we are 35 and 28) and we absolutely loved it there… we are now living in Hoi An on the beach side and love it even more… the quality of life is 1000000x better… we likely will never go back to the states. Best decision we’ve ever made moving here.

You are one of a few tourists (Westerners) seemed to enjoy Viet food over Thai food. 8/10 Caucasian tourists highly rated Thai food over Viet's. Thai food seemed to suit Caucasian more, probably due to less vegetables content just like Western food. Viet food tended to gear more vegetables content and healthier. Thai food tended to have move varieties as they claimed.

I have been to Vietnam many times over the years and i remember going htere when it wasn't too much of a tourist hotspot.
I hope that people understand that Hoi an is a great place four tourists and also relies on tourism but it's still very important to remember that this is where people live and where they should feel comfortable living.
I see so many rude tourists that think that because they are in a country that unfortunately has lower living standards that they can be disrespectful to the locals.
