    Forbidden Desert has been one of my favorite games in my collection since i first purchased it. Island is good, but I absolutely prefer Desert because its a fuller experience to me.
    Sky is a great concept, but very fiddly, and that takes away from the overall experience, in my eyes.
    This one, Jungle, looks good. I like how it kinda combined some of the mechanisms from Desert and Island. But instead of sand on the tiles, theres a growing threat that evolves. Seems pretty cool.

    This was a lot creepier than I expected. Eggs, hatchlings, adults... 🙈

    Thank you for this review! I was thinkimg about finally trying out(buying) some game in this series for my family(young niece), I just can't decide which one would be the best for us.

      Forbidden Island is the most approachable one for young players.

      @@TheGameBoyGeeks thanks. I will probably go for that then. It's cooperative, so there isn't even a real risk of me going with the wrong one though. I can always simplify it or house-rule some stuff.

      @@jameskirk4692True but I second Forbidden Island - it’s a little bit smoother to play, and can still be a challenge for experienced gamers!

    Forbidden Sky is my favourite, I wonder how well this one will live up to that.

      From different videos I saw about Forbidden Sky, you're the only and first person who said it's their favorite. Now I was thinking of buying one for my group. In your opinion how does it compare to Island and Desert?

    • @pilotvc
      @pilotvc ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@batosalangit1438 i think some people don't like that Sky is a puzzle, whereas in Desert you are trying to locate items, and Island you are doing pickup and deliver, kind of), so it depends on preference. Desert is tremendously difficult, no room for errors, Island is easy with good teamwork.

      @@pilotvcwhat I didn't like about Forbidden Sky was how fiddly the electronic components were. That, combined with constantly having a check where the wires lead for lightning strikes was just too much. I prefer Forbidden Island out of the first three.

    I like the cover art, but the board itself looks really muddled, why did they feel the need to add four of each symbols to the tiles? I'll probably just stick to Forbidden Island. Also no solo mode in a co-op game is disappointing for 2023.

    • @TheGameBoyGeeks
      @TheGameBoyGeeks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They have the same solo mode as Forbidden Island (use two characters). It’s in the rule book. The times need icons because it facilitates what directions the hatchlings and adults move before that tile is flipped.

    • @BoardGamesBricksHobbies
      @BoardGamesBricksHobbies ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheGameBoyGeeksGotcha, although with the icons, only one on each side (offset so the webs don't cover them) would have been more aesthetically pleasing.

    For me, none of the later versions top the original, Forbidden Island. It plays in such a clean way and has the perfect depth-to-complexity ratio. Anything added to it, extra steps, powers, levels of "life", etc. just bog it down unnecessarily and don't add anything to the gameplay. Nothing tops the feeling of urgency in the original game as the island starts to sink faster and faster. I really believe that you can hit a home run on the first try, and that's what Forbidden Island did. When something is done that well, it needs to stay "done". Don't mess with it. It doesn't need to be "improved" or a string of lesser franchise games.

      @@ottohavasvolgyi2448 Thanks! All the other versions are inferior and unnecessarily complicated in ways that don't add anything to the game experience.
