Thank you, ty, ty. I have been trying and trying to get this. I just now got it. Use a transparent and and opaque when starting out on the first layer. I keep watching everybody and it looks easy, but then when I do it, it looks nothing like everyone else's, that know what they're doing. I'm so glad I just came across you. I do more or less know which colors are transparent and opaque. And I know about complimentary
colors, and so on. But I just now learned how to start it. Ty again.

Thank you for sharing. :) I love Golden paints, and so good they show the opacity/transparency on the bottles.

Thank you for taking the time to comment - I love Golden paints too, definitely my favourite brand even though they cost a small fortune!

Fantastic demonstration, thank you. It’s clear, creative, concise and no waffle! Amazing what you can create with black and white and two other colours. You’ve inspired me to start using my own photos as transfers - I’ve used text before with gel transfers and love the effect. I’ve subscribed and look forward to watching your other videos. Thanks again. 🙏

Is that ordinary grease proof paper you’re using? Such a great tip. Thank you!

Hi, it's actually 'deli paper' (bought on Amazon) which is a waxed paper used for sandwiches etc. To me it has a less smooth/shiny surface than normal greaseproof paper. Different papers will give different effects - best is to experiment and see what you like best. Thank you for watching, and hope this answers your question!

I like your suggestion to limit yourself to one opaque and one transparent plus black, so we dont overthink and stress ourselves out.

Hi and thank you for taking the time to comment. Yes, I definitely think that limiting choices is a good thing when painting. It's what works for me anyway! I usually don't have more than a few colours out at any one time, it means that I can relax and enjoy the process without getting overwhelmed. I recently made two other videos about this if you are interested - 'My favourite paints and tools' and 'Mixing harmonious colours using a limited palette'.

Hi there and thank you for your comment. The opaque yellow is Naples Yellow by Golden. A nice buttery, earthy yellow. Hope this helps!

Glad I’ve found your channel, Claire! This is great for me right now. I do have a question: how did you do the photo transfer of the flowers onto the canvas? Best wishes from Girona, Spain. Will be great to continue watching your videos.

Hi - I saw your other comment so I hope that you have now seen the blog post and have fun trying out this technique. Glad you’re enjoying my channel so far! I’m still figuring out the filming/editing/speaking to camera side of things (a steep learning curve!) but just wanted to share some things that I wish I had known when I was first starting out. Good luck with your art journey!
