Great race, very good payday for Brittany Brown. Gabby ran very well but she peaked her training and conditioning for a once in a lifetime peak at the Olympics. Its hard to keep that fine tuned edge, but she won the race that really counts the 200M Olympic final.
Yeah, and it's still peanuts compared to what soccer , baseball or basketball players make in a year. She just got lucky once while they make millions every single month. All of the pro athletes are working their athletic butts off but the market values their efforts quite differently...

I love women's sports but it's more exciting for women because they can't compete at all with men. I don't mean that condescendingly. Some people just want to see the best of the best. Male gymnastics and ice skating is impressive but I feel like the female version is better. It is what it is.

This event was recognized by World Athletics as a part of the Continental Tour Silver so I think its more than just an exhibition. Category “B” World Ranking points are awarded.
There were some upsets at Athlos!! I wasn't surprised by Brittany, but Thomas was the favorite. Moraa didn't take down the 800m, which was a huge surprise.
We all know it's more than just 11 seconds, in fact their whole teens and early adulthood is spent preparing for top tier fitness and speed! To be honest, I might even say they are underpaid as their careers don't last much more than 15 years!

I am 77, and for sure, the fastest sprint runner in my age group. And forward and backward, and sidewalk and on one leg ( left or right) in my 10 years old snickers. Have asked NAGA to help me compete, but they promote long procedures, and yet I have to make 200 miles drive to the site. Can you simply come and record my results. And, by the way, I'm likely the strongest arm wrestler, regarding my age, of course.
I do not know Brittany, nor have a followed her career closely. I have seen a couple of her interviews and i am very happy for her. I just know that she really needed this money.
Well for your information she won silver in 200 in 2019 and ran 10.66 wind aided in 2022 and in 2023 she was 7 the at the world championship in the 100 final and won bronze this year at the Olympics and won 3 diamond leagues this year and diamond league final so you are probably the only one that don't know her she finished second at the 100m trials last year google that
Birttany Brown is for real. People need to realize. I like the idea of larger payouts for track athletes but I really dislike the Female/Male division tactic. Not surprising coming from the reddit dude.
Athletics, just like many other sports, come from legacy historical gender imbalances where top performing male athletes and sports disciplines get the most $$$$. Reddit dude is doing his own thing uplifting the sisters, leave this one alone. That said, athletes in general are still grossly underpaid compared to European footballers, pro NBA players and so on!
I'm a woman and I agree. I enjoyed the meet and thought it was well done. But it could be a Pandora's Box if the men do the same and it hits even harder due to better promotion. If it leads to further division and women get the short end of the stick it'll be a problem and fingers will point back to this precedent set by Athlos. T&F is the one sport with great equality in pay. I don't even think of inequality in T&F as we see with other sports. There was no reason to have an "all women's event". I honestly hope the next Athlos is inclusive of men.

Bad year. Started with recovering from late-2023 foot surgery (real bone spurs), then try to get back in shape for an Olympic run. Lets see how she does in 2025 and the run-up to the World Championships in Tokyo.
I was more surprised at Jenna Prandini's performance this year, she fell off a bit from 2023. I hope she can bring it all back together and be a leading competitor in 2025 in the 200m/100m (maybe 400m, too?).
