Her father rented this studio that came with the band for her 9th birthday. She handed them all a little booklet when she came in with all their instructions for each instrument. It said on the front page these are my wishes , Not Demand's ? She directed them with the pen in her right hand and her left hand. she rearranged the music and words to make it understandable The original version from screaming Jay Hawkins was not understandable at all, he made like animal noises and grunted, I wouldn't even call it a song. Her father is Swedish, her mother is Norwegian from a Japanese father and Iranian Mother Mery Zamani who is a poet and a painter and was a child prodigy in her own rights. She started singing at the age of one and a half when she fell in love with Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”. A year later she discovered Jazz through her grandmother and showed lot of interest in artists like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, and Louis Armstrong. She is the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina wrote and her Grandmother illustrated a book about why she sings barefoot. She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talk with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a Doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina sings barefoot to this day to remind the world that there are still children in need. All book proceeds go to charity.

Her father rented this studio that came with the band for her 9th birthday. She handed them all a little booklet when she came in with all their instructions for each instrument. It said on the front page these are my wishes , Not Demand's ? She directed them with the pen in her right hand and her left hand. she rearranged the music and words to make it understandable The original version from screaming Jay Hawkins was not understandable at all, he made like animal noises and grunted, I wouldn't even call it a song. Her remarkable talent to create unique arrangements then to perform it exactly as she intended. That being said, if you watch the last few seconds of this video, Angelina is seen reflecting on the performance she just completed. She is her own toughest critic. Always a pleasure to see someone watch this performance for the first time. She was 7 when she began on NGT, 8 when she won. Here she's 9 and a couple of months. In my opinion, she's the best living vocalist on the planet today. I've been a fan for about three years now and I have to listen to at least one song from her every day, or my day simply isn't complete.

You're right. she is incredible! A little information about this video. She changes the musical arrangement to make it her own but stays true to the original artist on many of her cover songs. You see her making changes on the music sheet, the music director smiles, her grandma wishes her luck and Screamin Jay Hawkins is on the candle. She requested this video done in black and white like the original Jay Hawkins version.

Angelina is Norwegian, her full name is Angelina Jordan Astar. Her father is Swedish, her mother is Norwegian from a Japanese father and Iranian Mother Mery Zamani who is a poet and a painter and was a child prodigy in her own rights. She started singing at the age of one and a half when she fell in love with Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”. A year later she discovered Jazz through her grandmother and showed lot of interest in artists like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, and Louis Armstrong.
Angelina pestered her mother to enter her in “Simons Show” as she called it from the age of 3. Her mother relented and entered her in Norway Got Talent at the age of 7 where she auditioned with Billie Holiday’s Gloomy Sunday. She went ahead to win the the big prize at the finals where she received 46% of the votes while the remaining 9 finalists combined received 54%. Angelina said she likes singing because she wants to bring joy and love to the whole world. One of her dreams from a very young age was to sing at the Nobel Peace Prize concert. She accomplished that at the age of 8 singing Louis Armstrong’s What a Wonderful World.
After winning NGT, she was flooded with offers from major music labels as well as Disney but they were all turned down by her and her family in order for her to continue her education and to protect her artistic integrity. Her uncle/manager in an interview last year he talked about music labels top executives who would fly to Norway on private jets with huge contracts offers but would leave mad and frustrated because they never expected being turned down.
Angelina is fluent in Norwegian as well as in English. She also speaks some Swedish which is very close to Norwegian and probably learned it from her father. She also speaks Farsi which she learned from her grandmother as well as some Japanese that she picked up from her grandfather as well as her mom and uncle who lived for a period of time in Japan. She actually performed a Japanese song at a concert in Japan.
Most of her performances after NGT were for charitable children organizations where she helped to raise millions.
At the age of 6 and while travelling in another country with her family, she came across a young orphaned shoeless girl who was weighing people on a bathroom scale for some coins in order to support herself and her siblings. After chatting with her for a while and without prompting from her family, she gave her shoes to the orphan girl. She recorded that incident in her diary and vowed to always sing barefoot when doing that in public to remember that girl and to remind herself and us about the many needy children around the world. At the age of 9 she wrote and published a book about that encounter making her Norway’s youngest published author. Proceeds from that book are donated to children charities.
Angelina Jordan has about 140 songs in her repertoire. Late last year she signed with Republic Records as their highest priority new artist. Her versatility is unmatched. He wrote and performed it in 1956 and Angelina based her performance on the original, although she did make some subtle alterations to both lyrics and melody.
As you continue your journey of discovering Angelina, you will come to realise that she does her own arrangements of most of the cover songs she sings. The differences may not be immediately discernible on first listening to them, but they are there. There may be a subtle change in tempo or tone, or more inflexion on some words, or a phrase may differ in pitch from the original. It's so much fun watching reactors like you see if for the first time! You need to hear Angelina singing the polar opposite of this when she sang "Every Time We Say Goodbye", which was a big hit for Ella Fitzgerald in 1956 from her albums of "Ella Fitzgerald Sings The Cole Porter Songbook".
