What if you were gay? How do they get on there?

    • @Quasiguambo

@@Mcfreddo As this video noted, the decisions of the government, shouldn't reflect so harshly on those of the people.
We are aware gay rights are not good in Iran, or most of the planet, lets be honest... i'm british.. we had a WW2 hero, one of the smartest, most important figures in WW2 strategic victory... and he killed himself because he was gay, and persecuted, it was a crime here at that time...
My local prison, it was most famous for housing a gay poet... within the last 100yrs I think...
And as the video also pointed out... what should be a reminder... it was only around 50yrs ago, that Iran was actually much MORE free, before we assassinated their democratically elected leader, for his socialist leaning ideals - and we, us, our governments, ended up pushing dictators on the Iranian people, because we did not care, and only had our self interests in mind (of course our governments, we knew nothing).
And the rise of religious extremism, as a cover for authoritarian control, only came about as a consequence of that meddling and history.
All this suffering and sadness, not the fault of Iranians, and all very recent.
And again, I remind you... even those on our planet who consider themselves most civilised... have only been so for the last 2 seconds of human existence.
.... and still somehow... their/ our, civilised ideals... don't seem to extend to putting human welfare above profits? ... Or seeing our shared humanity over the artificial lines that divide us?
Any rights any person may perceive themselves to have, can be 'taken away' as quickly as the wrong hands deem it necessary or in their interests to do so.
As we see in so many countries, our own included.

@@Quasiguambo Very good. I wasn't asking for myself, I was asking for his response as of course religion poisons everything as Christopher Hitchens said so succinctly and that people outside the diversity group, truly minimise it, they don't even notice.
And I do realise why Apple products have a piece taken out of their apple logo. Homage to Alan Turing. He was also investigating mathematically upon how things can self organise and that means no sky daddy oversight.
      But thank you.

Not sure which americans you are pointing to....... some of the greatest experts on iran are americans. there are 100's but
Nikki Keddie comes to mind.... even if you study iranian history etc. a decent iranian professor will point you to her books.

It was a great video. But as an Iranian I should say singing in public is not forbidden. What you saw in Isfahan, that peaple sang under the bridge, is not because singing in public is forbidden. Singing under the bridges in Isfahan is a long tradition there. I was born and grew up in Isfahan and know the traditions there very well. People from Isfahan are famous in Iran for their nice voices and because of the echo that forms under the bridges which makes the voice nicer to hear, many specially young people in Isfahan prefer to sing there. Just wanted you to know. I am glad that you visited Iran and experienced the hospitality of the Iranians. Hope to see you there again.❤❤❤

It's true that once we manage to put "politics" aside, Iran deserves the term "civilization" more than many other countries: it is indeed Persia.

What is happening in that region, and what might happen, is horrifying when you look at all the lovely people who are at the mercy of their leaders, and leaders from around the world. None of which will have any skin in the fight. It makes one feel small and hopeless when you know you can do little more than protest for them. Thank you for pulling back the curtain.

I’m an Iranian who lives in the US for the past 23 years, and I’m visiting Iran with my American wife. We have never heard such negative comments about the culture. I don’t like to hear an uneducated person like you make comments about the country and government that was selected by these people. So please get educated first, before you crush an amazing place like Iran. With the poor budget you are traveling on, you can’t see the lavish life of the Iranians that live here. These people do not see freedom as being able to drink alcohol or uncovering their hair. It’s honorable to be modest and most feel glad to preserve their history through classy public socialization. Even in Iranian historical art, 2000 years or so ago, social life was displayed this way.
Watch Peter Santanelo, a TH-camr from USA, “11 reasons you have to visit Iran “. This will be a more proper education of Iran.

    Hi,
As I was watching your story traveling through Iran/Persia my heart was racing and unwantedly so was my tears. I would like to express my gratitude for your honesty, frankness and how unbias your views and how true your comment explained the journey and exploration through historical Iran. With Iranian women perseverance and our bright young generation we will kick and end to 45 years of tyranny not in far future. WOMEN LIFE FREEDOM

If you haven't visited a Vatican or Iran, you haven't lived a life. You will be an enlightened person if you ever visit Iran. You will understand how much you have been brained washed.

Happiness must be kept underground?? 🤣🤣
Why? Because iran doesn't have clubs bars and nightclubs? Because that's where happiness only exists of course..
Don't worry because even though such things are illegal officially they are almost everywhere in the country and people who like to party and drink do it all the time.

i want you to know why my lands make you feel like that. and why my country is like this.
its all because of this : these are the lands of the first man .
and our country and our history is the proof for this: most of our science and our history in the world is a lie. and i did cry after i hear the last words of this video cause it was absolute truth.

What nobody talks about in the comments section is that being gay is still a crime in Iran and they have to hide who they are in order to not be persecuted and killed by the authorities. It seems most Persians in Iran don't care if you are persecuted or killed for being gay, and that is a sad reflection of their culture and upbringing, even though one of their greatest poets, Rumi, was gay. Unlike the days of the Shah where gay people could live the way they wanted in public with dignity and respect. As Iran's Queen Farah has stated: "Khomeini promised them heaven..but instead opened the gates to hell." As a gay Persian-American, it saddens me I can't live in my homeland without fear of prosecution or death due to whom I love. Think about that before you declare a country is wonderful. Look at what gay rights are in the countries you visit. Gays are human and deserve love and respect too, and some of the greatest minds on Earth have been gay, including the man who invented the computer science we all use in our personal computers and smart phones daily, Mr. Alan Turing OBE FRS. Thanks.
