This is how you do climatic battles with your main protagonist. Not just him soloing after awakening a power up via tragedy. Yami was saving Asta during this entire fight. Beautiful how far they progressed since their first team up
Yeah i liked that too. Yami was still very much clearly superior to Asta in power and combat experience cuz he was holding his own better by making less mistakes. I like that they didnt make Asta outshine Yami or like totally and unrealistically competent against Dante just by being the MC even after powering up cuz Dante was nearly killing Yami in 1v1. Both got their shining moments in this fight and even Dante was cool if im being honest. It wasnt like a totally one-sided or easy fight for either side.
Srsly tho they've grown so much and are such a good duo here. Yami seeing him as an equal and using his name multiple times is great, not to mention how wholesome and supportive of each other they are. So nice that they encourage each other in this fight and motivate each other to fight harder.
This is better then 1 sided fight or power of friendship fights
The power of teamwork
This is why I think this is one of the best animes out right now. And it's my favorite one. One of the things I can't stand in anime is characters powering up through the power of friendship and just clapping the main villain. (Naruto and AOT are example of what I don't like because of this) In black clover, Asta and others struggle in their fights. I love how in these fights, you actually feel like the good guys are going to lose (despite them obviously going to be able to win) and that's story telling done well. The villains are so entertaining. They're well done and aren't super annoying. They're ridiculous.

@@AZ-jm5dy I more so meant animes where the character just straight up wins easily with little to no struggle. I haven't watch AOT in for ever, so maybe it's changed, but I could no tolerate for example how easily Erin(or whoever tf) would clap titans so easily despite his tiny size. Like it wasn't done right imo. I think the anime is super overhyped. That being said, if you like the anime, all the ode to you.
I love how Asta's pose when grabbing the sword before and after cutting Dante is the same pose that Yami did the first time he uses the dimensional slash

It makes a lot of sense: Asta mainly learns techniques by observing others. He did so when learning from Fanzell, when fighting Kiato, when fighting alongside Licht, etc.

@@draz8302 Not about the budget the problemed stemmed from it turning into a long runner after the initial 12 episode deadline which the small staff it had wasnt prepared for. Pierrot pretty much neglected the series(no its not because of boruto, even boruto has its problems with a bigger staff). Black Clover really just suffers from lack of time/scheduling and most episodes are outsourced to other smaller studios just like boruto aswell. Even with a bigger staff BC will still have he same inconsistencies. Look at naruto shippudden it had better treatment than BC and it looked bad most of the time.

Yami giving his sword to Asta was one of the best things I've ever seen in shounen animes, Black Clover both surpasses its limits and my expectations.
imagine how lit it would be if they played the og black clover theme as yami passed the sword to asta.

In my top 3 also, alongside Shinsekai Yori and Railgun.
These guys have gone through so much together. Since the magic knight exams, Yami saw something in Asta. They’ve both gotten to the point where they can trust each other instinctively, predicting the others next move one after another. The sword pass was a prime example of that. This anime is amazing.
asta and yami have so much in common. they both are from the black bulls and have a rival from the golden dawn. anti magic and dark magic can interfere with the otherworld. they have a tsundere simping for them. they are buff and always surpass their limits
This will go down as one of the most iconic shonen fights ever!

I genuinely cried tears of joy for this episode. I waited for so long until the anime caught up and animated this fight. Was a better than I imagined the scene. Was an amazing episode, from beginning to end was amazing, made me feel like a kid again watching DBZ on the weekends and being excited about the whole episode
This anime keeps on surpassing its limits and I love it.
