The plot has been recycled several times. Dan Dailey was in at least one of them. Lots of songs, most of them organic (plot-related) instead of the usual diegetic Hollywood "show-within-a-show" type. And for a 90-minute movie, there are a lot of them!
I wish we would bring back these gorgeous hats. I cannot think of a more distinctly “womanist” piece of clothing- after all, hat shops were one of the first places besides brothels that would even hire women. And a hat pin was a subtle symbol of self defense- a weapon giving power back to them against SA. Bring back hats!
