I would like to put my perspective though it will get lost :
The lakes is a song about romanticism just like poets of the era of Wordsworth just like she mentions but she makes a remarkable job of relating to her
A red rose grew out of ice frozen ground - her relationship with Joe after the people said she's a liar and everything
It was a ice frozen ground but her love grew out of it
And she's the poet and Joe is her muse (she's written so much about him)
And these hunters with cell phones (the hunted her on social media, it was cool to hate on Taylor that time)
She thinks have I come so far for this 'name dropping sleaz'?
So she talks about the escapism to Windermere peaks where she can grieve and let it go
So finally she's setting off.

no but the lakes original version is literally the perfect song to wrap up this album with a victorian touch. the music!! it’s literally like going to a victorian ball and the escaping to the back room where all the paintings are hung and the light is dim and there’s no other person than you and your lover and the music from the front is too loud for them but loud enough for you to get away even amidst everything.
