Rare 2-Brush PDQ Tandem RiteTouch Car Wash

- This is very rare to find in Finland.
In this wash bay are two machines, first has wheel washers, side high pressure, top brush and foam nozzles, in the second machine has side brush, rinsing nozzles and dryers.
Side brush will rotate around the car.
Location: K-Citymarket Lappeenranta.
Rinsing was bit poor because of the foam didn't come off from rear of the car, but wash result was still good. This was cheapest program, only 10€:
-foam
-top high pressure
-side high pressure + wheel wash
-top brush wash
-side brush wash
-rinse
-3x drying

It's interesting how it does two rounds of automatic drying; then the gantry that holds the dryers docks itself at the far end of the bay and the doors open, allowing you to do a third [manual] drying round as you pull out. That's a rare feature that I don't see very often. Here in the U.S., it's either stationary (fully manual) dryers or mobile ones attached to the gantry (just like this one); not both. This one uses mobile dryers but does so in a way that executes both drying methods in one cycle. Genius!

This car wash reminded me from the US.
This machine has independent motion controls for each gantry. It's true that Kleindienst had tandem bridge systems back in the mid-90s but here the motion control problem is much more difficult. The speed, direction and applied pressure of each brush is completely programmable.

I thought after the presoak is the brushing not the high pressure wash.

Is the pdq tandem Surfline available in Finland
Sadly no Surfline. In Finland ECW (Euro Car Wash) company started importing PDQ machines in 1992. They were popular, but in late 90's they started to disappear. That was because new brush washes offered better wash result and new soft brushes. Now almost all PDQ systems are gone. Customers weren't happy to the wash result. Also new brush systems offer touchless opinion so that was pretty much end of the PDQ. Tamdem was short lived and now ECW doesn't import machines to the Finland anymore. That's kind of sad and only few PDQ machines are stll working in Finland.
Btw why is it called feather wash? Any clue?
