Unlike Starlight Glimmer (who also wanted to steal other ponies cutie marks) Grizzle never got redeemed.
I had no idea both Strawberry Shortcake and Care Bears were created by the same people, no wonder both series felt weirdly similar to each other.
I always knew subconsciously, I think.
I swear I always thought both were done by Hasbro. I didn’t know that American Greetings was a toymaker and not just a card producer lol

It's a shame they never did anything with the annoying Carebears. I feel like there was a missed opportunity to reform them. Me Bear could have been Self Care Bear, as you mentioned, Way Too Loud Bear could be Enthusiasm Bear and Messy Bear Accepting Your Mistakes And Owning Up To Them Bear (needs a vetter name though, lol)
Also PLEASE do this for other 80s Franchises. Maybe Rainbow Brite next?

I do! I was forced to babysit my little sisters my entire teenage years and got WAY too knowledgeable about children's cartoons. Ooh, and Wingnut and Grizzle!
Oopsie Bear was the GOAT! (Might be a newer version of Mess Bear)
I don't know why, but I'm compelled to say this. Spike is technically fully his own man dragon. He's an assistant, a famulus if you will. Less a sidekick, more a Man Friday or butler. Fluttershy has a sidekick in the form of Angel bunny. He's there more than not. Opal is close to that for Rarity, but none of the others are quite as close to animals. Honorable mention to Owlowicious, a proper, if underused, sidekick.
People have speculated that owlowlicious dies during the run of the show off screen which is so out of pocket but like they never show up after some point so like its kinda lore consistent (if you disregard the season 9 finale lol)
I'd also like to add that Spike very much is related to Twilight's cutiemark even if it isn't direct. In the episode where the mane 6's marks were revealed she got her cutiemark by having enough magic to hatch Spike. If she didn't she probably would not have a cutiemark or would have a completely different trajectory in life.

This isn't really a G4 related thing, but I think in G3 Spike was actually never implied to be a child. The ponies went to him to find where Unicornia was, he had authority to crown a princess even after hibernating for 1000 years, and he told the ponies tales and stories of the past. He was literally just a short British guy who never experienced a bath in mlp's 3rd generation.
I'll be honest, I completely forgot about Oopsy does it until I remembered wingnut and grizzle. Anyways Oopsy bear was one of my favorites as a kid but whenever I mentioned him nobody knew who tf I was talking about.

Maybe all the Belly Badges are bestowed by separate magical entities, and Wish bear's is just the only one to stick around after. This could also explain why Oopsy doesn't have one, they actually ran out.

I would love a carebear D&D campaign, but one where the world is more grizzled (pun very much intended) but the Carebears are still (mostly) the same caring silly lil bears

The first CGI movie is actually when Funshine Bear became a boy. (Which I’m more used to as his most prominent appearances all had him as a boy (the first CGI movie,adventures in care-a-lot,the new series,etc) so I’m fine with it completely.
I vaguely remember feeling a connection to Oopsie as a young child. I think I even had an Oopsie plushie on my bed. In retrospect, I think it was due to the fact that I was often scolded for misbehaving even though said misbehavior was due to my autism, which I couldn’t control. He was physically clumsy and I was mentally clumsy.
Honestly Oopsy is really fun I enjoy him a lot (I really like adventures in care-a-lot so) and I always wondered if he was even capable of a care bear stare using his drawn on belly badges?
My headcanon is that he can do the stare, but it always backfires somehow so he just doesn't do it much

it's always really nice to see someone who genuinely cares so much about something typically "unimportant" sure a special interest in math or engineering is cool but then who would make the video essays about old cartoons and video games
Fun fact about the Big Wish Movie: I stumbled across the script a couple years ago, and in it the other bears are collectively called the Clueless Bears.
I'm glad you had so much fun with Oopsy Does It, since that generation is my favorite, too.
I legit thought I hallucinated the Joke-a-lot movie... That journey through the forest was the basis for a lot of my nightmares as a child
Adventures In Care-A-Lot is a separate continuity since True Heart in the show is a regular bear instead of the matriarch like in the 80’s

Oopsy Does It is the ONLY part of the Care Bears franchise I remember watching. I specifically remember this one part where one of the care bears was trying to get another to ride the Funderbolt.

I think it's super interesting how The Care Bears' Big Wish Movie came out in 2005, and Strawberry Shortcake: The Sweet Dreams Movie came out in 2006, and their opening shots are sooo unbelievably similar.
I find the timing for this extra good since Smiling Critters exist now and they have been confirmed to be based off of care bears (and mlp too, but mostly care bears)

So there was a trend I noticed that I wanted to bring up: Up until the end of Welcome To Care-a-Lot (the first of the 2 CGI series), most of the problems the Care Bears addressed were problems that the kids watching could feasibly go through, like, “I’m worried my parents will like my new sibling more,” or “I’m having trouble dealing with bullies at school,” but after CB&C started, the problems the Bears solve have gotten far more fantastical in nature to the point where it feels like the Care Bears have lost their purpose of showing others how to care for those around them. Like, what kids are gonna have the real-life problem of “we found a guy in a canyon who hordes lost objects,” or “a magic cloud shrank us and if we miss our chance to touch the other magic cloud we can’t go back to normal,” or any problems like that? Nobody! I swear, lately Care Bears has just become a generic fantasy show with a beloved franchise slapped on the front with sticky tape. It barely feels like the same franchise. Even Adventures, the series with Oopsy, had relatable problems sprinkled in!
Ah yes...because "I lost my favourite toy and the one who found it won't give it back" and "Being small sucks" aren't problems that children face. Just because Unlock the Magic took a less literal approach doesn't mean it isn't talking about ACTUAL issues. Heck, ""Rain, Rain, Go Away!"" is THE best episode about aggression issues I've ever seen in any TV series OR movie EVER! And they also had an episode about culture shock and how some people show sadness differently! Care Bears NEVER stopped adressing problems children go through!

@@Pixie_Shmixie I haven't seen those yet, so I can't say. I've tried finding the specials but haven't had any luck, unfortunately. The best I can think of without having seen it would be that it's an allegory for something...but again; I haven't seen it yet, so I don't really know.

I had a cheer bear plush but the one care bear media thing that stuck in my mind was a 2D animated special or episode of the show I don’t know. There was a lion and a bear on a mission idk what. The lion was narrating into a tape recorder along the way he seemed like an adventurous egomaniac. And the villains the cloaked no heart guy and his little side kick. The actual plot I remember was basically no heart steps out and tells his minion to watch over his amulet, the minion breaks it and glues it back together and wears it so when the 2 Care Bears show up he chases after them using the amulets shape shifting power, but it’s screwed up so bits of each form he takes sticks making him an animal chimera. He’s distraught over being a mixed up monster so the bears help him like oh if you just care- and literally him yelling “I care” a few times undoes it. The lion recorded him saying he cares and uses it as blackmail so the minion lets them go. Lastly accidentally erased his adventure narration recording.

Omg I found it it was the second series episode “the all powerful Mr. Beastly” I thought of it almost every time I went to a playground because the monster beastly chases brave heart tender heart and some kid around a play ground. I can’t believe this 11 minute cartoon episode seemed so much more cinematic in my memory.

I have to say the only care bear i remember having a relative outside the CB Family was when Wonderland dropped that Swiftheart Rabbit was the White Rabbit's niece and I'm like...then why wasn't she sent to live with him?? Why didn't he step up for this oprhan bunny?

The movie they talked about first I saw that CGI baby bear and went wait a minute... Iv'e seen this movie. The only memory I have of the movie is the star guys and the bears eating pb&j sandwhiches which I thought looked really delicious.
This made my morning! I think the 80s cartoon was better but now that I think about it the 2008 movies were good too. Wish Bear is definitely my favorite!

I. LOVED. OOPSY BEAR. SO. MUCH. I adored him as a kid and I remember so clearly just loving that version of the Care Bears so much,it brought me so much serotonin. And as someone who grew up with My Little Pony almost at the same time,I was under the impression the symbols on their bellies were indeed basically cutie marks,so I was waiting for the moment Oopsy Bear actually got his and it never happened... on both your videos, hearing the sound from the other person in the call (be it just them moving or it being a feedback loop thing) while one was speaking was pretty distracting and I'd recommend for future collabs to either mute your own mic while the other is speaking at length or to wear headphones

Aha! I DO know Oopsey Bear! Care Bear obsessed child here! Though, I had no freaking clue what a "belly badge" was. I grew up with the name being "tummy symbols." I grew up mostly with the 80s/90s series. And I found it odd that the bears were upset about losing them, because my mental image was that they know they are still them, with or without a symbol. Also, why are the Care Bears almost blatantly furries now? And skinny? And why are the plushies so ugly?
Wingnut is really enjoyable. I liked his Bond with Oopsey.

Um…this really makes me feel old. Then I remember that it’s been 40 years and then I feel REALLY OLD. I had Bedtime Bear, except he was Wishbear’s color, the first batch of care bear plush had switched their colors, so I grew up thinking bedtime was supposed to be that aqua/teal color instead of light blue and that the cartoon had gotten it wrong.

But then in the unlock the magic line we have "care-a-lot bear" who is said to be the first care bear, so care-a-lot was named after her, so is joke-a-lot named after an actual joke-a-lot bear and is there a place named after love-a-lot or wish bear's uncle wish-a-lot? the world may never know
