I think the evolution of the 3pt shot is honesty making the game more interesting. Seeing players like wemby, jokic, lopez developing outside shooting ability to make themself as valuable as possible is what keeps sports interesting throughout seasons
the timeout thing is an example of another interesting rule change. back when it was first invented, if you were out of timeouts and called one, even though the opposing team would get a free throw, the team that called the invalid timeout would *still get to advance the ball.* Until Game 5 of the 1976 NBA finals. Phoenix were down by 1 point with a second left, and called an invalid timeout. The Suns didnt care tht Boston got to stretch the lead to two, because now they had a chance to hit a jumper and tie the game whereas before they had no chance of getting the ball up the field that fast. So they got the ball at half court and sent it to triple overtime, where they eventually lost.
Could you make some content on locker room guys? Guys like Tristan Thompson on the Cavs, when watching them play the thunder he got no minutes but hyped up his guys, I think that could be an interesting topic to discuss
racist intentions be damned, but I think the business casual rule added a level of seriousness to the setting that is not lost on the viewer. it also aged the players up and communicated professionality. it would be weird if commentators and media people weren't at least in business casual. it's already weird that coaches don't wear suits anymore. regulation games feel like practice when everyone involved isn't treating it like a major event. AI had cool style tho i can't lie and im saying all this as a black hip hop head not that it matters
Little off topic but imo, NBA should bring division winners getting home court (like the NFL) as this would make regular season more important and build rivalries overnight, but under some conditions. For example a 48-34 division winner should not host a 56 win team that came in second in their division. One possible fix to do would be is if the road team has 3 or more wins than the home division winners, the two teams could play a game to decide the home team. This could even create short rivalries themselves the next year or two
Why? It's just 1, max 2 per game per coach, let's say you see a ref blatantly blowing the whistle against you, and you missed points because he or she called your player for a foul, would you just take it in and act like nothing? In football soccer the VAR (Virtual Assisted Refereeing) became a norm in most of the world, because it helps refs to not affect the outcome of a game based on bias or lack of judgement skills, but of course, when you make an average of 2-3 goals per game, losing one of those to a challenge is more impactful.
League needs to find rules that speed up games like they did with the 14 second oreb, hopefully some changes can come with that with how fouls are handled and the last part of the game
A gen-X basketball fan from Europe here. Having followed the sport both from European and NBA perspectives, the biggest change has been NBA's leniency to carrying, travelling, charging and handchecking. NBA has the best players and the best show, but it's getting to point where European game is getting more enjoyable to watch, as the basic rules of the game still apply. Btw: NBA is still cool to watch tho. Love this channel. Eat a corn dog and be good to your mothers ❤
It's interesting the main reason I watch the sports I watch is for the players I know. Sometimes I don't even know if I like the game. glad you're enjoying the channel, man!
When it comes to the dress code, it was not racist. It was a bad reflection on the black community. If your perception is hip-hop style and that’s what Black people are that makes you the racist. The rest of us normal Black people are out here not wearing large, baggy, jeans, big gold chains, etc. The style they were portrayed was actually imitating street dope dealers. I think you should know a little bit more about the culture before you speak on it love you stuff don’t get me wrong but when it comes to that rule, there’s a lot more of us black folks cheering for it and a lot of white folks going. Hey that’s how they Act
You needed to talk about how illegal defense rules changed the way teams played if you tried to camp in the other teams lane or sag off to help another defender They would get free throws That’s why the triangle was so effective you couldn’t run zone defense.
I really enjoy your content. Just curious, what level of basketball did you make it to? I'm just a fan, so no shade intended. You know a ton about the game and the history.
I think the instant replay feature has really slowed down the game in recent years, it just seems like every call requires an extra 30 second discussion from the refs about it, even if the call is clear.
Any reason why you say that the coach's challenge is your least favorite rule change? I thought it was very well received and as a kid I HATED the "too bad, so sad" notion with blown calls. If anything, i think it should be like baseball where you get as many challenges as you want until you're wrong
I think you should do a video on how NBA teams/the NBA itself doesn’t market small market superstars as they should. Like imagine if kobe never got traded to Los Angeles from Charlotte
Like we keep on talking about the “face of the NBA” like there aren’t guys like P5 in Orlando ant in Minnesota ja in Memphis like these are actual superstar talents, but they just play in cities that aren’t major basketball cities they are the faces of the NBA. They’re already here.
@ and you could even look back in the day Ray Allen way cold but you would never know that because they make it seem like Milwaukee was completely dead from the time after Kareem left until Giannis arrived
Why don’t you like coaches challenges ? I think it’s good that in American sports we have a system in place to question the refs, considering subjective ref calls have sold games or won games for teams. Just curious
Would getting rid of the defensive 3 seconds be good again for the NBA? I remember the days of illegal defense and just pure iso basketball. It was pretty boring then, but MJ was the best at it so it was somewhat tolerable.
removing hand checking in no way removes the 3 pt shooting rule that makes nearly no sense. if anything its gonna make it worse bc players r gonna be avoided the contact and restriction u get by being hand checked and settle for more 3s
David Stern was right NBA players dressing like clowns now Ai saying he's pretending to be someone he's not because of a dress code is Ridiculous pretending to someone you aren't is the part of ever job especially in a 9-5 bring back the dress code NBA players can definitely afford it now I have a suit and I work at Walmart

another quality video!
idea/request. a video explaining expansion of the NBA? both past and the future potential of it
literally working on it right now.

that's interesting. so the other team wouldn't get a free throw and the ball?
@whatslaps nope! they only got the free throw at that time
The actual GOAT making what the fans ask for. Congratulations on 26k bro 50k is coming
thanks brother! 🎊

that might be good. thanks for the tip, man.
Dress Code = The Iverson rule.
yup. he was swaggin to hard on em.
Such an underrated content creator, anyway we can support u in getting a better mic however 😭?

love when you tell me to eat a corn dog. best part of every video

I like this idea. honestly I think the higher seed should get to play 4 straight home games in the playoffs.
Get rid of shooting 3 free throws, they shoot 2 max. Now watch players guard the 3..
oooh I like it
That's veeeery interesting
How has this not been said before? This might be THE fix for defensive and offensive balance + entertainment.
@@NonyaBusinessXXLsuspenders Or to remove the 3 second violation now that the game is played too much from the perimeter.
That's terrible if you need a 3 to win or tie the game. Makes those situation too predictable.
What? Coach's challenge is a necessity to keep the game more fair, it makes the refs look bad then they're refereeing for their parlay.
true. just takes too long imo
I hate the coach's challenge. Too many players whine about dam near every play
everybody twirling their finger after every call.

I should have put that in this video tbh
I like the idea of making all 3 refs have to agree when assessing technical fouls. Thoughts?
I'm thinking about how long those deliberations would take 😴
I love watching the stories about Tim Duncan and the NBA Dress Code.
haha, Duncan was swaggin on everybody

I really enjoy your content. Just curious, what level of basketball did you make it to? I'm just a fan, so no shade intended. You know a ton about the game and the history.
Played til freshmen year of high school. I was more of a soccer player
Bro was definitely either a selfless playmaker or corner sniper
Which has more impact in the league today between the two.
1. Removal of handcheck
2. Removal of illegal defense
?
Video idea, should the league over the decade reduce the number of teams in the NBA to make it more competitive for fans and have more rivalries?
I'm going to save that video for your channel, brother ;)

Yeah, it's a good idea. I think the refs should have 10 seconds to watch the tape. I feel like they investigate it like a crime scene every time.
Great video thank you!
my pleasure
They should implement a "refs' challenge" where the ref can ask a player to recreate the flop he just did.
