The mic is surprisingly good. Which ironically is the last thing I care about in a headphone but it’s absolutely a very nice bonus! Great informative review.
I have been very happy with all of the FIIO products that I have purchased starting with the Q1 portable headphone amp/dac that I bought for my daughter years ago when she was first getting into audio. They remind me of what Sony used to be when I was a teenager back in the 80s and had very little money but wanted products that sounded good, worked properly over time and did not cost an arm and a leg.
Copped these for $45 late last year when they came out. There were no reviews then but took a chance coz of the price. Happy i took the risk. Definitely not audiophile headphones, but as you said, decent bassy headphones that aren't fatiguing in the uppermids/treble frequencies. The big plus though really is the comfort.
@@GadgetryTech got my trusty HE400SE for better tuning and technicalities as well! Also got a good deal on those for about $65. Not sure if you'd have access to it, but would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the Aune AR5000. $300 set that supposedly competes well with the Sundara and maybe even the HD600.
@@KmtS9 I too have the HE400SE (with the Stealth Magnets, V2)...an excellent open-back planar headphone and unmatched at its $85 price point (when on AliEx sale). However, I grabbed these JT1's because sometimes I want a closed back. I was considering the venerable Philips SHP9500 (semi open back), but I think the JT1's have supplanted the 9500's as king of value/performance. FiiO has never disappointed me. I also own the BTR5 and two BTA30 Pro's (multi-CODEC BT Receiver, BT Transmitter, and DAC). FiiO makes some excellent audio equipment at accessible pricing.
Ghost is another one that is good for around $100, but these are WAY better sounding. I just picked up the Meze Noir for $179 and was blown away by how comfortable and good they are. So much so that I ordered the Dakoni pads and the Meze Silver Plated 4.4 replacement cable for them. I got the cable, but I am waiting on the pads. *Update: The Dekoni pads are not worth it. I tried for 45 minutes and could not get one of them on the Meze. I put the stock pads back on in 30 seconds. DO NOT buy the Dekoni Pads for Meze!!!
I like your reviews. You show a lot of details and come from a reasonably universal point of view. I like the graphs, they show details that are hard to catch without visuals. The one thing that is missing is channel balance. Sennheiser is a brand that's known for their quality control. They pair their drivers better than most other brands like Beyerdynamic. I found it can be an issue with budget headphones. I know you need to be sure of your measuring rig to make good assessment of channel balance, but maybe it's feasible with the Ears..?
The cloud 2/cloud line is just the Takstar Pro 82 with an added mic. Was smart of hyper x to take a good budget audiophile can and tweak it for gaming.
Hi, What would you get for competitive gaming? This or an EM6L? I was looking at HD560S and DT 900 Pro X but all the used ones in my country got scooped up, and their off the shelf price is out of the range. That’s when I found this pair of cans and they seem like a good deal, but wanna get the best deal for footsteps in Valorant. Thank you!
Good review. I'm liking the sound quality and imaging however, the fitment just isn't there for me. They feel too loose and the ear cups just don't get the correct alignment for me. I'm now looking at IEM's and wondering how these perform as an all rounder (music and gaming) to the Simgot EM6L.
Got the simgot EM6L when they were on sale, they sure are worth their price ! Unless your coming from a very bad audio system they wont blow your mind but they do everything (gaming and lots of music genra) perfectly and are easy to eq, also you won't need an amplifier/ dac they're VERY sensitive despite the multiple driver. If you're coming from speaker/headphones be aware that they WILL NOT replicate such open-ess / soundstage altough it is very correct i still believe the fio would be better for gaming etc..
Would have been curious how these compares like vs the VZR Model One seeing as they have somewhat similar sound profiles and seems to both work great for gaming.
Is there a good replacement mic for these headphones? I'm aware of products like the V-Moda Boom Pro, but that only has a single plug going into the headphones. Is there something that will work with this?
If you had to choose between the fiio jt1 and the epos h6pro for gaming and some music, which would you choose? Not considering the price difference that is.

Hey! So I'm wondering if you know what the KINGSTON HyperX Cloud 2s stock audio EQ is set to. My previous cloud 2s broke after 6 years and had to resort to buying the Razer BlackShark v2 Pros after finding out Kingston sold HyperX to HP and messed up my go to headset (thought I bought a defective headset after trying the new ones). I'm trying to replicate how they sound and have gotten really close but would appreciate some more advice :D Edit: Sound Normalization has also helped while trying to achieve the same type of audio also what are your thoughts on sound normalization? would love a creditable second opinion, I have it set to 30
Hi Joe, can I ask if u think the Hifiman EF400 u reviewed previously is a good DAC AMP for competitive gaming for positional audio? I kinda got to test it as a DAC for my speakers and like it, but not so sure on Headphones gaming aspect. Thanks!
I wouldn't use the EF400 for competitive gaming to be honest. The FiiO K11, JDS Atom Stack, Schiit Magni/Modi, or Topping products would do better in that realm.
These sound very good indeed, but the cable, from the point or moment where it splits into left and right, really makes a lot of noise in the headphones when you move around (friction with clothes, etc). Did someone try these headphones with an alternative third-party cable? Is there a solution for the friction noise?
Philips SHP9600 were not the best from Fidelio line, Philips SHP9500 is better choice if you can find them or personal favorites x2hr when they are on sale.

An apples-to-oranges comparison is by definition not very useful. The Fiio JT1 is a closed-back headphone while both the OneOdio Monitor 80 and the Philips SHP9600 are open-back headphones. Why not compare the JT1 to other closed-back headphones at a comparable price point?
