    Good to see ya again Chris, Personally throughout the season everyone is chasing Pogacar still and as long as Pogacar is in perfect form I see no difference but Evenepoel should build up the form quite well.
    All the way leading up to the Tour de France i think that's where Evenepoel will be a little better this year as long as he doesn't run into problems later in the season.

    Literally zero worries about him being ready for Pogacar. He could have all the time in the world with the most perfect prep and he would never be ready. Tadej is in a class of his own for all around. In Grand Tours the only person in the same class as him is Jonas. Remco is in a distance 1B class with a few other riders.

    Your appreciation for Remco knows no bounds. He is a great rider and has a champions personality, but there is absolutely no reason to suggest that Remco will ever be ready to compete with Pogi. In GT there is no chance at all, even if Pogi is not at his best Jonas is the only one that can beat him. Remco is closer in the one day races, but still do not see him dropping Pogi or beating him in a sprint.Remco won LBL twice, but without Pogi being present. In fact he won almost all of his biggest races without competing against any of the riders in your top 6. The only discipline where he is top of the pile is TTs.

      Appreciation no doubt, but past performances are no reason to just give up. Riders like RE may expect TP to out do them, lose more often than not, but equally they are there to win themselves. So thinking about what they do, where and when to race etc., is part of the process. Recall that 12 months ago, the landscape looked very different. Things can and will change.

      Remco reminds me of Chris Boardman (as far as GTs are concerned). Tons of fire power! He spent several off seasons training like hell…losing weight. Since he had tested at a phenomenal power to weight ration he and his trainer, Peter Keen, surmised that if he lost an elusive 2-3 kilos he could climb with the best and win the TDF. Alas it wasn’t to be. For all of his phenomenal talent he couldn’t climb with the elite. Boardman indeed had a testosterone related medical condition…but really, even some of the most talented riders can’t merely change their stripes and race outside their physiology.
      Remco is a remarkable TT rider. Great at certain classics races, one day races and, perhaps, shorter stage races…but the TDT. At best a podium spoiler. I say that and I’m a Remco fan.

    Chris & Garrett let’s be honest, he doesn’t have the balls to take on Pogacar. I think he’s quite complacent for second to Pogi. To take Pogacar you need to attack non-stop and he would eventually loose his composure. Remco doesn’t believe he can do that to Pogi, as he seems to be very happy with 3rd place in the Tour de France. I truly believe he doesn’t believe he can beat Pogi

      Not true. Triste year TdF for Remco was for him to try to know if he can be at a highest level through 3 weeks. That is why he didn’t attack Poggy in the highest montains. But he actually attacked Vingegaard and got a big counter. If the terrain suits him, he will attack.
      And next year, he will try differently. It is not in his manner to accept being always second.

    There exists a "plateau" that Remco needs to transcend, in contending for Grand Tour leadership, and it's purely in his head.
    I can't specify how many times I saw it, but "more often than not" ~ Remco watches someone else "jumping ahead" and does what? He slacks off whilst looking over his shoulder, either expecting someone else to respond, or demoralized that they didn't!
    Cher Remco! The Champion attacks himself! Do that and don't look back.
    And if anyone else attacks, you jump on that wheel and DON'T LOOK BACK: you're only looking for the other "also rans" when you do.

      I am 100% certain Pogi looses the world championships with just a little bit of correct tactical racing in the men’s road race last season. • @MDP1702
      @MDP1702 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Remco doesn't react if he believes he won't be able to follow and would just blow himself up in the process. He always has been more the steady high speed rider than the big blow acceleration.
      Especially eg. last TdF he had no idea how good he was vs the others or if he could do it for 3 weeks, so he might have been even more carefull than usual.

    The biggest problem of Remco is his mentality. He is not able to be focused while cycling. He broke all his bones due to this. Training, nutrition, talent, you simply cannot progress if you broke your bones every year. Just think what would've happen if Remco didn't fall in Lombardia 2020. He probably would've won that race, and maybe the Giro. Now imagine him progressing healthy between 2020 and 2025, like Pogacar did. I'm pretty sure he would be at Pogacar's level, less climber and more time trialist for sure, but very close to Pogacar's level. We will never know unfortunately and now I think Remco won't be able to challenge Pogacar and Vingegaard anymore. This year is already messed up because he had no winter prep. But the mentality is part of the sport, you cannot call it bad luck, you simply cannot cycle a few centimetres near a car and just hope that a door won't open. You cannot go full speed through a corner hoping that you will mantain control. Because everything can happen and you have to foresee it, not just stomping your pedals

    • @MDP1702
      @MDP1702 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      *you simply cannot cycle a few centimetres near a car and just hope that a door won't open*
      This I can't agree with at all. You can't just ride in the middle of a public road that is open to cars AND people coming out of cars have the responsability to check if no one is coming before opening the door.
      It would actually be much more dangerous to expect every door can potentially open, since you either would have to constantly ride in the middle of the road or constantly make unexpected maneuvre's to the middle of the road when passing parked cars.
      Remco's problem likely is more related to him having started cycling late, which lowers his technical abilities. He doesn't generally take turns faster than anyone else (often times it is the opposite with him taking them slower).

    • @WTM_abteilung
      @WTM_abteilung 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @MDP1702 I don't agree. When you go in the street, by car, bicycle or anything, you have to predict every possible scenario if you care about yourself. And you have to do it even more if you cycle at 50 km/h, something that people are not used to see. If you can't do it, because you can't predict anything, just don't train in the city center. Of course, looking only at the rules it wasn't his fault. But who cares if it's another person's fault when you're broken. If you are a professionist you have to take every possible action to guarantee your safety before all. If you know that you're not that gifted in terms of technique, just avoid the potentially risky situations if you can. It's not a matter of coming late to the sport. Of course this matters also, for example when he crashes because he can't corner or quickly overcome a risky situation (Basque 2024, both ITT and the infamous stage, Lombardia 2023, national ITT 2023 to quote some of them) but the lack of concentration is also involved and sometimes it is the only reason. Remember Vuelta 2023 when he crashed while celebrating? There is no technical aspect in that case, only a matter of focus, lack of concentration. You'd never see Pogacar or Vingegaard crash that way.

    • @MDP1702
      @MDP1702 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @WTM_abteilung
      *When you go in the street, by car, bicycle or anything, you have to predict every possible scenario if you care about yourself.*
      That is just an impossible thing to do and you can't react to every possible scenario either. The only way to do this would be going very slowly the entire time, which defeats the point of training.
      *just don't train in the city center.*
      He wasn't training in a city center, he was passing through it. It is pretty much impossible here to train cycling without passing through town centers.
      *Basque 2024*
      I wouldn't put this in a list if his fault definitely, many others crashed the same and it was shown to be due to the road surface. Hell, his reaction there likely saved him from worse and was one of the times he actually had good instincts.
      *Vuelta 2023 when he crashed while celebrating?*
      The run out was unusually shortened without enough warning. Even those behind him not celebrating (and going slightly slower) only just stopped in time. They should have put that finish earlier.

    • @WTM_abteilung
      @WTM_abteilung วันที่ผ่านมา

      @MDP1702 You are trying to justify everything and I understand that since you're a fan of Remco. But this isn't the correct logical approach if you want to do an objective analysis. I am also a fan of Remco but I can also think without being affected by this. You are trying to relate any event to external factors, not to Remco himself, while I cannot unsee a correlation between all the facts that I quoted and many others (not only crashes, but race tactics, behaviors and so on). Again, it's not only Remco's fault and not only unfavourable circumstances. It's about Remco not being able, often, to overcome potentially risky and unfavourable circumstances. In my opinion it may also be that his team has a bit of responsibility in this. Like in the Giro 2023 when he has been infected by Covid (every team member including Remco was without a mask, thinking that there wasn't any risk. Well done, shortly after they understood the lesson and they made him wear a mask in the Vuelta 2023 and in the last tour; but Jumbo riders were wearing it already in that Giro and they won the race).
      Pogacar has been through the same race and training circumstances but he never had as many problems. His only broken bone was wrist, and it happened because a rider crashed due to a puncture right in front of him. This is 100% an unfavourable circumstance, since there was absolutely nothing he could do. And It's not only because he has more bike handling, it's because he uses his brain on and off the bike, and probably has a better support (physical and mental) by his team. This is the way for an athlete to be the best possible version of himself.

    Remco flamed out last year trying to keep up with Pogi. This year he won't be a factor.

      To be fair to Pogi. Last year no one was a factor. 😂👊

      He was the 3rd best GC rider in the peloton in his first TdF after an imperfect preparation and always just riding his own pace not going over his limit. If that is a flame out, what would you call anyone else bar Jonas?

    Remco is overrated as a GC rider. Stop the hype. The guy was 9 minutes back at the Tour. He’s simply not on the same level as Pogacar and Jonas. He’s good for one day races and TTs. His Vuelta win does not count since he beat a bunch of bums.

      Overrated as a GC rider? He's literally the 3rd strongest GC riders when in great shape.
      Pog was 7:30 back on Jonas in '23 TdF.
      Yes, currently he has not been at Jonas and Pogacar current level. However he's younger and actually pushed better numbers than Jonas or Pog did at the same age.
      If he's not considered a good GC rider, you have no good GC riders outside of Pogacar and Jonas.
      His vuelta was against a normal field. Basically the same as saying Roglic GT wins all don't matter because they were against bums.

      "bunch of bums"??? You think a lot of the majority of pro riders, you must be quite a rider yourself.

      Hehehe. Have you seen Pogi, Primoz, and Jonas with their shirts off. The good news though for Remco and the big take away here…… Remco can still improve, weight wise. 😂👊
