It would be great if you can visit the Mount Beacon Transmission site in New York State. It is the home of the Hudson Valley’s first FM Radio Station, WSPK (K104.7FM) as well as military and government uses. It has been there since 1947.
I have been listening to KKJZ for decades...going back to Chuck Niles' day. Pick them up easily all around OC and sometimes heading south toward SJC and San Clemente. Love hearing David Benoit, Rhonda Hamilton, Jose Rizo and many other great voices hosting. Best radio in LA, OC and the web IMO.
I remember viewing Signal Hill when I was stationed at the now gone Long Beach Naval Station. Most the radio stations from then are most likely not there anymore. I truly do not recall what stations I did then listen to. But I am weird that I like to know what antenna is doing what. Peace
I remember signal Hill ...KLON FM 88... Jazz and Information radio.....KNOB FM 98....K Nob ...the TV station was KBIC TV 22.... operation was by Carl Baldy.. owner of KBIG 740am and FM 104.3fm....avalon Catalina Island 🏝️....in the 1950s and 1960s KBIC TV 22 was in the 1950s and 1960s...doing a time UHF was only a few channels...😮
Wish I could receive KKJZ. I Live in the Crescenta Valley an I can not receive KKJZ. If I stand on the the roof of my house I can see the towers on Signal Hill, but I can't receive KKJZ clear enough to want to listen. maybe someday. Used to listen to KNOB back in the day when they were on Adams Blvd.
I been on Signal Hill when I was a boy and a teenager.... have been in K Nob fm 98.. studios in the 1970s....my dad used to go up there in the 1960s....Hill Top Bar used to be up there tooo😮 a lot of Long Beach Memories we have 😊... bring back K Nob FM 98... dump the garbage 🗑️ is on it now
Now I have to go to Long Beach so I can hear what a station sounds like with minimal processing...just a Compellor? The last time I tried that, the jocks almost mutineed!
Tell Dave thank-you for the tour. Also say hello to Ben Fuke and Joel Wallek for me. Sad that Art died. Larry Nelson and John Garabedian give their best also.
Thanks! Yeah, the owner of the site requested a couple of things be removed from the video. In an effort to not try to embarrass anyone, I removed them.
Interesting...I listen to KKJZ via the web. It may be one of the best Jazz stations in the country. Thank you.
Oh man, I just subscribed and gobbled up the transmitter site playlist, and now I'm treated with this!? Awesome!
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching!!
Love seeing a historic transmitter site!

I'm not from the area, but I could listen to xrey tell stories for hours. I love his enthusiasm.
Seems like a great chief! Cool and sharp!

Happy new year Marcus
Happy New Year! I can’t believe it’s already 2025.
On the line of sight, did you used the dish using 500Mhz signal to send the audio?
It would have been a 950 MHz link, more than likely.

Re-upload? or a different video?
