I remember one time I gotten negative rating on my shop's facebook page because a lady drove 2 hours to sell me lands that were all in 9 pocket pages with no binder that was in a tubberware and I could'nt obviously buy them because lands are everywhere. She flipped me at in the shop and then tried to sell me the tubberware as a card storage device.
What I am trying to say is rudy, be happy that people are actually selling you real thing rather than mountains in old smelly 9 pocket pages that were in a tubberware for god knows how long. Then you check your store facebook to see a negative rating from the old hag saying how bad you was for not buying their trash. Sometimes I just want to hire a midget to kick people in the ankles...

Here in south america stores make a killing by selling every card at NM price, regardless of wear, because there is just no easy way to get the cards. Every time I travel to the US, trade for the used cards, mp, pld, get back home, and trade/sell full price. #JungleTImmy

I know you say that you wouldn't get cards signed by the authors to resell or pay a premium for them, but surely you must have some personal favorite cards that you'd want signed for your personal collections.
If I had it done, it'd pick some of the old school tokens. Some of them were just creative and fantastic.

Lol I literally slept at my LGS when I was 12 years old. I know that sounds weird to people, but those 2 years I spent at my LGS before it closed down were 2 of the best years of my life. So many good memories. I'd get dropped off on Friday at 4pm and I'd literally sleep at the shop or at an employee's house nearby and didn't get picked back up until Sunday. It wasn't something everyone did, it was just a group of about 6-7 of us. I guess I was a part of the "inner clique" with the 2 main employees and a few other people. Is it legal to let a 12 year old sleep at your card store after business hours? oh well :)
We'd go to Circle K in the morning and we survived on Snoballs and the Chinese takeaway next door and the runs peole went to fast food places. I have fond memories of waking up on the gaming tables in the morning and walking to Circle K to get food and then hopping on the computer to play Heroes of Might and Magic 3, Starcraft, Warcraft 2 and finally Everquest until people started showing up. Magic on Friday night. Star Wars CCG on Saturday, and when pokemon came out Pokemon on Sunday. Video games in between and other games like Settlers and Lunch Money. I was 11-13 for these years! Those were the days. Things have changed forever now. NObody would ever let a kid sleep at a card store LOL and I doubt that kind of thing exists anymore? I consider myself extremely lucky. It was crazy then, it'd never happen now but oh my god am I glad it did and that my parents understood and were somewhat neglectful LOL. I wouldn't trade those 2 years for any experience. Card games all day. computer games all night. So . Much. nostalgia.
Not exactly the same situation as you, but I've spent the night in a LGS twice while at college. Being friends with the owners helps.
You had me at "Heroes of Might and Magic 3". Dont have many fond memories of my LGS but the owner was a pretty cool Indian dude by the name of Marcus and his Japanese GF has huge boobs. Enough said.

Rudy, If one day I ever sell my collection, I bought or traded for the cards, put them to use to play magic and enjoy the experience. (I have been collecting since Ice Age and playing since Tempest.) I would say I've gotten my money's worth on the fun times and people I've met along the way. If at the end my magic experience, to receive any extra cash on a game that I thoroughly enjoyed, that would be a bonus. What I don't understand is why any player would tell you the value of a card? They played the game, enjoyed it and made memories. If the cards are played (as they should be) they should expect that they won't receive as much for them. Better some extra cash then sitting in the closet unplayed. (I guess it just makes my cringe a bit when you say that they point out a card of value and its like they got their value out of it, it shouldn't be of any value anymore but if it is cool.)

Dear Rudy. WOTC did it again! There are misprinted FLIP CARDS in Ixalan! What's next, misprinted flipping tacos?. It seems like there could be a lot of these misprinted flip cards so prices may be stale. What do you think of the latest misprint?

What booster box is even worth buying for a investment purpose?
I don't play magic nor would I ever as personally I find the game boring and far to expensive to play competitively... I mean come on you have a $30,000 Deck... That is just crazy!
but seeing people buy booster boxes for $500+ has me wondering if any of the newer sets can be bought and held on to so it can gain some value.
I wouldn't mind making some money with magic as I am just baffled at how much these cards can gain value over time.
So if you can, I was wondering if you could address this and also if you can explain just why a card can be worth over $1,000+ as I just can't understand this at all.

The absolute easiest way to tell a set is the Tap symbol on unlimited they didn’t even have one it literally says tap on the card. Also the artifacts say mono artifact on the card too. In revised the two symbol is a little T that is sideways and then in 4th edition they updated it to like an arrow that is all curved. I understand if they don’t have a tap in the card you should revert back to date and color but that is another way I used to tell the differences when you had multiples of the same card and the dude is trying to tell you it’s a 80$ unlimited card when it’s really a 5$ 4th edition card lol...
The easy clue between 4th edition and any earlier core set, is the very small font on the artist's name.
marcmarc1967 yup agreed as well and the color is much richer than revised. Revised look almost washed out and don’t have a date stamp ie, 1995 like 4th
