I'm currently trying to find work in the film industry to push forward on my dream of becoming a pro screenwriter/director and your videos are so SO helpful!!! Thank you!!!
Thank you so much, this is super helpful. Currently trying to get on set with a camera crew and needing to write up a CV to get my foot in the door. Definitely feeling a lot more confident about it now :)
Hi idk why this isn’t the top video bc I’ve seen at least 4 prior to this one and this one was the only helpful one. Thanks so much for sharing and for including extra info in the blog 😇💙
Hey it was really knowledgeable. I need your help understand alot more on the same context. I’m a filmmaking student in Toronto. I believe the entry level tag suits best to me. I’m gonna watch your next video you discussed here but I would still like to connect with you personally and learn more about it.
Now this makes sense, no wonder I haven’t been called in the past 10 years because robots are scanning me first. I guess I’ll keep applying till I get in. It’s not easy guys! Been applying for more then 10 years and never been called once! And I went to school and can’t build experience if robots are dealing with us first.
Thank you for the great video! I moved to US to make film in Hollywood from South Korea. I worked for several projects but finiancial part is the most difficult thing to control. I graduated college last year and I got a Assistant Producer job in local broadcast station for my first industry stable job in US. It was a journalism industry so it wasn't close to my dream work. At least I learned the leadership, teamwork and communication skills. I quit my recent banker job to try Hollywood dream again. I'm in Bay area currently, but will it be better to move into LA?
What would you recommend writing about just to fill up space on the page if you don't have many if any relevant prior production credits to your name? This would be when applying for lower level jobs such as a runner or location Marshall just to gain some credible experience in the industry which could be built on. Currently I only have one credit to my name as a runner and camera assistant on a small independent production which I wasn't paid for. It wasn't done through a production company nor was the film made by any notable established writer, producer or director. It did however have a budget of around £130,000. I haven't been able to see the film prior to know if its any good. I'm currently a UK Film Production student who hasn't been able to gain many valuable practical production skills through in person teaching due to lockdown circumstances therefore I can't list many skills either. I made a few short films of my own but I feel they don't qualify to go a Film Production CV as industry relevant experience. An with most recruiters bound to be in favour of people who have more extensive production experience prior I feel hopeless. With most of my experience being either in retail or customer services.
Good question! Most director resumes look like the actor's resume example, having the name of the film, year, directed and written by, and if there is anything noteworthy, they'd also include that. Like if the film stars someone notable, it would have a column "Starring XYZ", or if it won any awards or screened at a film festival. They also rely on their website or demo reel to show off their films and other work, so it would be important to include a URL on your resume.
@@MyRoadtoHollywood That seems informative and interesting. Thanks for the info. Since I am also visual learner and planning on also being a director & actor, can you also upload a video discussing on how to build a Director's resume too?
I mention a few places in other videos but just top of mind - Staff Me Up, Facebook Production Crew groups, Mandy, and directly on studio/production co. websites are all good starts

Good service madam to Film industry
What if it's a director's resume for student films that I am trying write and build?
