How many Emmy Awards did Erica Slezak win? A thousand? She deserved every single one of them, for scenes like this, for all of the scenes she did, every second she appeared on the screen. I mourn the loss of daytime dramas. No more powerhouse actresses like Erica, making us feel all of the emotions of life five days a week. People trivialized soap operas, diminished their cultural significance, but we sure are feeling their loss now, as the world grows ever darker and bleaker. We've lost a daily coping mechanism with the disappearance of the soaps. Thank you for posting this...
Amen. Agnes Nixon's soap operas, and the characters in all of them, left a permanent mark in the hearts of millions of people from all over the world. That's not the kind of legacy that's easy to replace or forget. And I pity the fools who would try.
There's a scene with "Viki" and "Clint" (as portrayed by Clint Ritchie) where he visits her in the psychiatric ward of the hospital and gives her a book called "A Child's Christmas in Wales" and when he starts to read it she bursts into tears... It was another great moment for Erika Slezak. VIKI: "No, Clint, please... (she sobs) CLINT: "Viki, what's wrong?" VIKI: "My father used to read that story to me and it's such a beautiful story and now it's tainted and it's spoiled by that monster and his monster little daughter! (she raises both hands to her head in gesture of utter disbelief) *I still can't believe I killed him, Clint! I killed him with these hands that raised our children!"* (This was right after she remembered "Tori" smothering "Victor" to death in the hospital where he was being treated for a heart attack.)
I think what Viki meant by it was that Todd & Tina's behavior is genetic, though Viki managed to be a pretty good human being, usually in between siblings especially when there's more than 2 of them, one always turns out to be the black sheep of the family.
I saw some old episodes of the show and Victor Lord was nothing like this. Erika Slezak said she hated that they turned him into a perv. In reality, a dude like him would have gone after Meredith and Tina when they were kids, too. However, the writers probably felt it would be too messy of a rewrite to go there. Because then they would have to explain why they didn't develop alternates, too. Keeping as just Viki is cleaner.

Fourteen years later, this scene is still too heartbreaking to watch. But I noticed how Vicki mentioned her sister Meredith but not her brother Tony .
That's because she grew up with Meredith.
Viki didn't know her other siblings until she was an adult.

When i first saw this scene i honestly wanted to jump right into the screen and hug her. I had no idea till i saw this, i cried for her.

He never believed Meredith was his. I think Victor did that to Vicki was because she was his and his name sake and first born

Victor thought his wife was unfaithful to him, and he didn't believe Meredith was his actually daughter
