Of all the actors of this period, I miss Natalie Wood the most. Her beauty was immeasurable.
Ah, those deep, rich, Shakespeare-trained voices of Peter O’Toole and Richard Burton. Now that’s what I call real acting
Thanks so much, lots more coming!
Perkins was robbed of an oscar.
That's for sure, but I think he was somehow stigmatized with this role for the rest of his life.
100 per cent true. i read his biography. He was in all of the sequels which were sub par. Ironically because he was so strong in Psycho he was typecast
@@alansaltz8308 Same thing happened to Andy Robinson, Scorpio in Dirty Harry. They were too good!
What I love about Perkin’s portrayal is how natural he is, other actors in such a role would try to up the creepiness factor, but perkin’s tries to make Norman seem like a normal guy with a lot of weight on his shoulders, which ironically adds a very tense atmosphere around him.
Right! Norman doesn't know he's crazy, 7:37 and neither do we. He plays just like a good mama's boy venting teenage rebellion to a sympathetic stranger, which is how Marion takes him. If you watch the whole scene, the first sign of menace is fleeting, but probably taken in subliminally by the virgin viewer. Marion says she's decided to go back home, and Norman smirks, "Oh really?" Knowing what we know, it's the first sign of Mother.
Hitchcock made Perkins great
Indubidubly 🙂
So nice to see someone appreciate Love With the Proper Stranger - my favorite movie!☺
The best!
I'm so glad someone else likes this movie. They hardly ever show it on TV or mention it and you can't even get a good DVD of it. I finally bought it through my DVR so I can watch it anytime.@@Vortexfilmclub
I fell in love with Wood watching this film. My favorite scene was when he stopped by for dinner. She looked SO good in that black dress!
Same!
@@jamesdrynan to to be crude, but i have often thought that making love with her would had been the greatest enjoyable experience of a lifetime .
Perkins deserved an Oscar for his performance.
Gosh, Natalie, you were the most beautiful girl ever.
yeah Natalie .... she was one of my first 3 loves when I was growing up as a young boy during the 1960's ... Natalie Wood ... Mary Ann - sorry, that's Dawn Wells ..... and Claudia Cardinale (Once Upon a Time in the West)
Maybe it’s generational but I’d aim for Diana Rigg, Ann Margret, or Agnetha Faltskog.
For the men you're talking about the acting but for women it's more about the physic, get out of your cave.
@@Methilde So .. I found some actresses very attractive...and they were pretty good actresses .... And as for the Great actresses I seen - Bette Davis (very cute when she was young) ... Katherine Hepburn ... Olivia de Havilland ....

Sorry but all the comments were more about their feminity.
If you think about C.Gabble, John Wayne, De Niro.... not really hansome, they could have roles to prove their gifts
It is good to remember that Sean Connery was, in addition to James Bond, a magnificent actor.
Love with a Proper Stranger is a forgotten gem. I recommend streaming it if you can find it.
Love with the proper stranger. Great. Sadly forgotten but great
Not fogotton
Love with the proper Stranger.
Becket…what a breathtaking, heartbreaking movie.
Sean Connery regarded 'The Hill' as one of his finest acting performances and in his later years would invite guests to sit and watch it with him. Being filmed in black +white added to the effect that the incidents were occurring during wartime. RIP Sir Sean.
O’Toole and Burton blow me away.
the wonderful absolutely marvelous classic cinema... and with immense repeat value. simply irreplaceable
I don't know what happened to recent movie making in the old days I saw 2 movies a week after work all different great variety
Now everything is capes and lazor beams and something always blows up and the actors and actresses Wow Today I have never seen such crap. Special acknowledgement to the cast of
"Outlander" stunning performances by all Tobias Menzies is other worldly. Also
"House of the Dragon" Great videos Burton O'Toole and of course Natalie
Excellent choices !
Thanks!
oh, thank you, so much.
the actress Natalie Wood is so beautiful...i guess the counterpart is the actor, Steve McQueen...
An Burton and O'Toole… Artists.
Notice Norman's description of a madhouse also applies to a movie theater
THE HILL is Sean Connery’s greatest and toughest film. He and Ian Hendry give Oscar (or BAFTA) winning performances (don’t know if they got one).
They both give the greatest performances of their life!
Of course they didn't. Not proper I.e. American actors.
Natalie n Steve were my 2 fave actors both died tragically. That's life a total crapshoot😢
Could have picked a better scene from love with a proper stranger. She has quite a few better than the one presented. She’s still beautiful no matter what scene she’s in
The part when she stands undressed and frozen and he slaps her. Always breaks me into pieces because you can feel the hurt all over. (Context hidden due to spoilers)
If you want a terrific scene try one that Burt Lancaster did in Elmer Gantry as a "preacher." He won the Academy Award as Best Actor for that role in 1960.
Thank you, on the list
I have to go run and watch Psycho..now. lol
And all Hitchcock movies :)
About the 4th time I watched Legally Blonde ,I decided to look up the full cast ,I was pleasantly surprised to see that Anthony Perkins son was in it ,he’d was captivating in this movie .
Marion needed to get the fuck out of there the second that conversation was over.
That's the truth! 😂🤣
I KNEW I'd seen the face of the girl in the classic Candid Camera clip going gaga over the teacher! She looks just like Natalie Wood
Wow!! Fantastic...
PERKINS was a brilliant actor. WOOD was always captivating, no matter which role she played. On the "other" hand, I was never impressed with McQueen. To me, he was always the same. A piece of white bread. CONNERY proved his acting chops way beyond "James Bond." BURTON was a MASTER ! 7 NOMINATIONS starting with "My Cousin Rachel". He deserved to win all of them. O'TOOLE was Brilliant ! A tour de force every time ! NICHOLSON proved he could do ANYTHING ! LOVE the guy !
Natalie Wood and Steve McQueen - one of the best-looking couples on screen.
Did Steve wear the same mac in Bullitt?
McQueen preferred brunettes.
@@pdm2201 I’m not surprised.
acting is adults doing what kids do when they "play, pretend"
If you want a "heart pumping" scene of Natalie Wood, try her bathtub scene in "Splendor in the Grass." This choice is puzzling.
Percent we’ll add it to part 3
Her entire performance in Splendor in the Grass was so amazing
The backstory of this scene is that Natalie Wood's and Steve McQueen's characters have had a one-night stand and now she's pregnant. And this was before abortion was legal. That's the "problem" he alludes to. This movie is great and was radical for its time. But without knowing that, it would be hard to judge this scene. I agree with the comments about her bathtub scene in Splendor in the Grass, or other scenes from that remarkable film.
I beg to differ.
Her steamy scenes with Robert Redford in This Property Is Condemned make me dizzy.
I loved this movie. I mean with Natalie Wood and Steve McQueen.
Natalie was a natural beauty.
Let's not forget Elizabeth Taylor in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf."
Acting gods. There is only one God.
Véronique Vendell (Marie) meets Peter O'Toole (Henry II) again in Night of the Generals, only this time he kills her.
Anthony Perkins is quite good. I remember watching Psycho as a kid but the whole thing just went over my head. It's one of my least favorite Hitchcock.
Maybe heart-pumping in 1960...cornball now 😊
Wouldn’t have such a good ring to it 🤨 haha 😂 Connery is certainly pumping something!
Harry Andrews was the greatest!
Why does jack n. Always look evil? Even when he is smiling.
They're not gods they're just entertainers.
Psycho killer qu'est que c'est
Fa fa fa fa fa, fa fa fa fa fa
Better run run run run run run away...
Steve Mcqueen acting God ..I don't think so .😅
I always found him to be phony. I hear he was quite the prima-donna.
@infonut He had a massive problem with Paul Newman who was a good actor , prima donna is right.
He was better in his later roles. “Papillon” and “The Sand Pebbles” for which he was nominated. Francis Ford Coppola wanted him for “Apocalypse Now” but McQueen didn’t want to work overseas. The role went to Martin Sheen.
Gossip!
I am just gonna say it, I never liked Steve McQueen.
Fair enough I think he divides people, I remember my father loving him so I guess I like him for that reason. Certainly didn’t treat people well.
1960s, no apostrophe. It's plural not possessive.
wtf is this ... an English class ... LMAO
Ha ha.... reminiscent of a friend of mine... a grammar, spelling, and punctuation fanatic.
I really don't get what anyone sees in or rates about Jack Nicholson. I can't bear him.
Sexist..all of them.. but that’s how it was, forever, until now
Who asked you
What in the world is special about the scene with Natalie Wood ? It was trite and boring.
Many thanks, you are right, it's hardly original, somewhat staged and cliché, but we wanted to showcase the wonderful Nathalie Wood, do you know another scene? If so we'll add it to the next instalment. Thanks again!
I think the scene is super cute but I love all the scenes in that movie.@@Vortexfilmclub
@Vortexfilmclub :: _This Property is Condemned._ The dinner table scene where her character had too much to drink. It was her best performance, in my opinion.
Thank you
Natalie's character is pregnant after a one night stand with Steve's character. That's "the problem" Steve's character mentions. This was a good 10 years before abortion was legal, so her casual attitude belies the panic her character must have been feeling. In those days, she would have lost her job and probably her nice new apartment, to say nothing of the social wasteland she would have faced as an "unwed mother". And the audience at that time would have known this. So, yes, this is outstanding acting on a number of levels.
