Bosch, once again, takes ebike systems to another level. The much anticipated Flow App is intuitive and easy to connect and navigate. The massive 750wh powetube battery will take you to places you’ve never been before with a single charge. Can’t wait for my new eMTB to arrive!
*Works great my **Latest.Bike** I have a bad knee so I still get exercise but the bike assists me. I am a big guy so I didn’t think it would go as fast but it works great.*
Tour+ is the best of every mode. 0 to 340% assist with 40nm of torque. The ability to adjust assist levels is only available for ECO and Turbo modes; Tour+ and EMTB is not accessible. 750wh battery is amazing.
On my turbo levo comp. I use my phone and the app... "BLevo" Wow, talk about every metric you could want.... I have 3 assist levels that I can make what I want, but real time while riding, I can go up or down + or - 2% or 5% If you have your bike "unlocked" (i would never do that) You can get all kinds of performance out of your bike. Riding at 10% assist I have a range of like 200 miles...... The other day I did 25 miles at 10%, then I used 25% till I got 8 miles from home, then I went 100% for the last 8 miles and was screaming top speed the rest of the way... Got home with 40% battery left. (50 miles total) Last week, I forgot to top off my battery so I had 75% at start. I road over Black Star canyon from Santiago canyon all the way to Corona. (about 14 miles) Then I road back on streets which is 46 miles total. Got back with 10% battery left. Averaged 13 miles per hour and climbed 3254 ft. (yeah stopped and took pictures a few times and I'm a slow descender so it lowerd the average.....) What 59 year old fat dude can do that? Super appreciative to Fly rides for selling me this bike.
I like the minimalist look of the LED and the color code system. The fact that the App works behind the scenes without needed the full display is ideal. I'm not sure I'd make great use of the 750wh battery, but good to know I could go for longer rides than I'm used to.
So basically if you mount your Iphone to the handle bar you dont need the display? Is that correct? Im busy looking at buying a Cube bike and its so confusing as some have a display…some dont
I tried the system on a new Riese and Muller multicharger. Liked everything about it but couldn’t consent to Bosch tracking my whereabouts, so went for a basic purism display instead lol
got a smart system bike; was running great, connected the app and updated the bike firmware; upon restart the bike immediately started throwing out error codes and put itself in limp home mode. luckily my lbs is located downhill from us and they forced an update overwrite and the bike is back to normal. next time there's an update im not going to risk doing it over wireless.
I clicked on maps the other day and it set my phone as the main display the left controller worked it the same as the kiox 300 pretty cool feature if you leave your kiox off durn a ride but then need or want a display back can also See it better you set a case That has a kiox mount aswell so handy if you want a bike that doesn't have a display and you want one you can easily set one up! Them commuting ebikes now have Auto and Sport mode with abs It sounds similar to the emtb the auto but not sure?! The new lock it a nice feature locks Down the motor after the Alarm sounds and can't be ridden away the crank locks up
Great video. Do you think this feature is a big enough difference to hold of on a purchase of a gen 4 CX with a 625? Seems like the smart system will trickle out to mid priced bikes in the next 2 years.
I have the 625w battery with smart system. I’ve worked out it’ll give me about an extra 10 miles of range and it won’t fit my e-bike. So not worth it for me until they bring out solid state batteries. By then I’ll want a new e-bike.
so the difference between 625 and 750Wh batteries is about 900g. Can you feel that difference? I bet you can, especially that all that extra weight is close to your head tube ? any thoughts ? :)
I am going to start leasing a r&m supercharger 2 gt rohlof hs at the end of next month. Would it be better to wait off untill they implement the new smart system and kiox display? Or maybe wait until after september when riese & muller release new models? Although I really like the color and design of the supercharger 2. Its also mostly for commuting so maybe not necessary to wait? I dunno..
Just picked up a Bulls Copperhead Evo from you guys! Question! Do you need to purchase the Kiox 300 in order to use that app? Also can someone direct me on where I can purchase the Monkey Link lights? All I get is European stores, I need them in US
I don't ride long enough to worry about running down my 625 watt battery so that upgrade is not important to me. The one thing that is important to me is being able to adjust the assist levels in the technical stuff. It sounds like it's not as customizable as the specialized system where you can adjust both the torque and how fast it comes on but it might still work well enough. The higher levels of assist on the bus system are almost useless in the technical sections now.
Thanks for your in-depth video. Sooooo, the negative of removing the Kiox display does not render your ebike useless. Unlike the intuvia? Still love the system 👍
I'm hesitating between the 750 and 625Wh batteries. I plan to use my future ebike to complete tours of about 80 or 100km/day so the choice is not easy.
did you have alot of rides afterwards? i feel that the range is very low, i lost 40% battery with 22km on EMTB with only 160m of altitude gain today on a mixed road/forest trail ride
And yet, this so marvelous System doesnt allow you to reset trip whenever You want... Or does it ? Batterylife is quite bad even if it is 750 when compared to 625 on Bosch or some other brands and this opinion comes from experience of testing various bikes.. Such a shame, because i was waiting a lot from this 750 Smart System.
Great ide but a bit late to the party giant have been doing it for a while and very sucessfully, the only problem with these systems is when it goes wrong iv got a giant and its started playing up and now its no good 9000 pounds later and giant want bugger all to do with it even though its there software update that fed it up
A smart system would probably consist of a navigation feature that wouldn't require your social security and medical records to activate not to mention block you in Europe from using your cellphone because cell bought in South Africa. Sounds more like gestapo stupid.
He explained why the eMTB doesn't allow customization. Sounds like you've got a Specialized and are trying to convince yourself you made the right choice in spite of all the motor failure problems they've had.

Didn't know you had one coming! Jealous!
H oyw eh why’s de eih

Just ordered a Canyon Pathlite:ON 5 SUV with the smart system. I can't wait to start my ebike journey!

750wh battery is amazing.
Totally! I thought that Tour+ was just for lower settings initially, and was pleased to find out it really pumps out some power!
Truly a smart system! Nice to have the option of display/no display. Bosch is top of the class!
Couldn't agree more Deanna!

just ordered me a cube with the new smart system. your review has made me even happier i made the right choice. cheers!
Finally a full review on the smart system! Love that you can ride it without the display. Can't wait to have these emtbs in stock to rip on!
Very excited to see how different companies utilize the Smart System!
The connectivity of the new Bosch system is just great. Love the idea of being able to ride without the display.
Couldn't agree more!

Right, and not having to worry about running out of battery relaxes the ride quite a bit too!

This new smart system is amazing. I only had one complaint of the old system, I couldn’t take my display off. Hats off to Bosch they crushed this one
Bet you'll like that for your eMTB, Noah!
Thanks for the video 👍🏽.. Any speed ebike for this 2022 whith this smart system??

Just bought the Trek Rail 9.7 with 750w. Looooove it 🫡

Updates are possible on older ebikes. i drive a 2021 cube with 625 perf cx with nyon and it does the updates via wlan.
Cool! Didn't know that about the 2021's. Before that it was pretty much all done by shops, which was rough.
Updating display unit's firmware is different thing than updating motor's firmware.
I like the idea of giving the option to go "displayless" - shows that Bosch is actually listening to their consumers.
Definitely! People have been asking for it.
great review thanks 😎
Did I miss it? No mention of walk mode. Wish the new system had a throttle too.
*
These are pedal-assist bikes, not a class 2 throttle eBike. They do have walk assist though!

They need to update the R&M Tinker with this system
If they could find a way to fit that 750 watt hour battery on their, that'd be awesome!
that jarod leto ?
did you have alot of rides afterwards? i feel that the range is very low, i lost 40% battery with 22km on EMTB with only 160m of altitude gain today on a mixed road/forest trail ride
Not very Smart if there is no dual battery option. A step backwards. I enjoy your videos very much.
Would be nice if this would be a 750Wh battery, but it isnt. It is the PowerTube 750 with just 723Wh and thats not enough to call it 750 it's a 725.
The firmware updates are huge improvement.
That huge remote is horrific...... it puts me off the Bosch system all together, and I've ruled out bosch altogether because of this...... Pity

Every ride shows the individual trip mileage under statistics so I don't see a problem

great idea but itl go pear shaped exactley like the giant app i updated my 9000£ bike and now its briked and giant will do bugger all
will this work with my 2020 - 625 powertube battery?
Now every Bosch powered bikes under 3000$ doesnt include a display. This is just cutting corner and a buggy app.
Now beat the Ali express price so people who need bikes to get to work can afford them.
Longer rides woohoo
Never gonna complain about that!
Who's tracking you with the app????????
A smart system would probably consist of a navigation feature that wouldn't require your social security and medical records to activate not to mention block you in Europe from using your cellphone because cell bought in South Africa. Sounds more like gestapo stupid.
You Guys
No, you guys!
Ive got this and its super shit way to much BS shame as the motor is bang on.
Bosch went to shit with this system.
Why?
so you still can't customise all modes.... Bosch is still a decade behind Specialized when we talk about eMTB ....
He explained why the eMTB doesn't allow customization.
Sounds like you've got a Specialized and are trying to convince yourself you made the right choice in spite of all the motor failure problems they've had.
@@dcarlisle123 i had Trek Rail before, it's a night and day.... so stoked with my Levo ;)
NO!!!!NO!!!!NO!!!!!
