The warmth of the relationship between Darla and the Master always fascinated me. He clearly only let Angel live because she loved him, and the whole thing has this air of "Dad who knows his daughter is in love with the idiot, better to let her make her mistakes so she'll come home when it all goes bad than burn the bridge and ruin their relationship forever."
Vampires lose their humanity as they age. He's probably way past the point where he cares about human notions of comfort and luxury. He dresses very simply while Angelus and Darla are very vain about how they look.

Funny how Angelus' speech here mirrors Spike's in Buffy Season 2 about the benefits of living among men, whereas Angelus is the one who wants to destroy mankind by raising Acathla then.
I guess as age goes on, vampires change perspectives. Angelous younger wants to be free to do whatever he wants, but as he gets older and more ambitious, he's no longer content with just killing / hunting. He wants to take over the world. Thats probably why the Master is hellbent on ending the world, due to his advanced age.

buffy isn't that serious of a show, lots of things are somewhat plot holes by characters just acting out of ordinary. angelus for example, has no interest in slaughtering mankind with the judge, just wanting to mess around with his own goals, while spike for some reason, wants to bring about an apocalypse. just like angelus has no interest in joining the master and just wants pleasure and luxury, his goal to end the world is out of character. then later, spike is giving speeches about how he loves the world and isn't interested in destroying it, while angelus is going to bring hell on earth, thus making spike's earlier plan to end the world like angelus was trying to, out of character and weird. really makes no sense besides the fact buffy is a corny show and whoever is the big bad at the time has to be trying to end the world. the master, spike, angelus, all literally try to suck the world into hell or destroy mankind in some manner at some point. also angelus when he's released in angel has no interest in following jasmines plans either and betrays her, he literally kills the beast and saves LA cause he has no interest in any of that crap and just wants to kill all angel's friends.
I like that this scene shows that Angelus changed from his younger years to when he comes back in Buffy, he goes from not wanting to lay waste to the world to when he's in Buffy he literally attempts to suck the world into hell, subtle character progression lol
I imagine The Master would have been proud to know one of his children tried to suck the world into a Hell dimension given his own attempts to do the same with the Hellmouth.

Buffy’s victory against him was entirely sheer luck and if the Anointed One and his minions had been successful in resurrecting him she likely would have been screwed.
I Love this. Angel acted so scared of the Master in Season 1 of Buffy but yet Angelus has met him in the past. I think this was fun history. It needed to happen. As much as I wanted Angelus to throw some blows with the Master.

Darla was the Master's pretty pet hence why the Fanged Four got away with so much. The Master really did love the Fanged Four; the most ruthless of his children.
I wonder if Spike and Dru even met The Master, after all Angelus sired them, presumably after this encounter with The Master. Spike embodies the stallion aspect more than Angelus ever did, that encounter would be even more volatile.

You know it's kind of inconsistent on this Another vampire (Kakistos) was so old "his hands and feet are cloven"--something the master DIDN'T have - but this vamp didn't look like The master with the whole living past the human curse thing. Maybe it's different with each vamp, and I would guess the master looked so pale because he lived underground for so long IF it could be done I'd bet angel and spike would need to live for thousands of years to get to that point

Since Archaeus "bloodline" extends Master, Darla, Angel, Spike, and Drusilla I think they have the ability to look like The Master if they lived long enough to reach the same age. However, since Spike and Angel have a soul they might just stay the same.
He spent 100 years living in America so he developed the accent, it happens in real life all the time, plenty of people move away and even after maybe 10 years their accent will have changed somewhat
@@PsychologyWizard David Boreanaz didn`t know how a Galway accent sounded so he did his version of what he thought an Irish person sounded like which is basically a painfully stereotypical and forced-sounding mix of Dublin and Northern Ireland. The only redeeming value of the accent being it made Medieval Angelus and Liam as unlikeable as they were intended to be.

During the age of the Primordium, when even the Wolf, the Ram, and the Hart were just a couple of upstarts and amatuers. His power was far and beyond that of any typical vampire. I like Angelus, but if we're talking a one on one scrap, the Master would've absolutely wiped the floor with him. Just being honest.

The acting is so good, the Master was so much better written in his brief appearances on Angel. He was a pantomime villain in Buffy.
