Anita, I can't thank you enough for teaching me how to sew! Since my double mastectomy, I cant find any tops that don"t have darts or look horrible on me. Now with your help I can make tops that I will be happy with. Maybe once I get good I can help other women like me!
Oh my goodness! I don't know how I missed this comment. I'm so glad you found my channel and learned how to sew your tops. God bless you for wanting to help other women. You've really blessed my heart today. 💕💕💕
I really hope so! Shirts for adults without darts or being these big shapeless bags are an Issue for lots of people without either noticeable breast tissue or a defined waist are... Limited. Heh.
I wish I had seen your videos from when they began. 79 years old here and still learning. You are an inspiration. Great teaching as well as sewing abilities.
Well, Anita, the inspiration isn’t just your sewing. It’s also your appearance. You inspire me to take off a few pounds, get back to getting a little exercise every day, and doing some sewing for myself. Also your faith in God is another aspect of your inspiration. Stay well and stay there for us.
Hi Anita! I'm new to your channel, really appreciated your teaching. Looking through your videos, couldn't help but notice that handsome man of yours, then the videos talking about his struggle with brain cancer. I know you must grieve every day, and I am holding you up in prayer. I love your videos, I am learning a lot. I have Nancy's book, but never had time to start wading through it. Your tutorials make it so much easier!
Thank you Anita for your great lessons, tips and tricks! I am learning sooo much from your wonderful, clear, positive, teachings. You are a beautiful Christian woman inside and out. Gob Bless.
Anita, thank you. Please don't take note of the few thumbs down. There will ALWAYS be some sour grapes in a bunch of grapes. Hey, even some rotten grapes. Lots of love, from South Africa.
Oh Estelle, thank you so much! Yes, I don't let the dislikes bother me at all. We all have our own ways of doing things. Thank you so much for the encouragement.
Hello Anita! I've just learned a new technique for getting the folds out of the hem by lifting up the basting threads. After all these years of sewing, there's always something to learn! Gee thanks!
Peace and blessings Queen. I have had more than 2 sewing instructresses. Your vid is where I learned how to ease in fullness in the hem. I can't wait to try it. Most definitely, I won't forget it. Thank you.
Your attention to detail is AMAZING!! I could never do this because I'm a perfectionist and could never do this as well as you do. But I thoroughly enjoy watching your perfection!
I truly appreciate all the details for this skirt -- I am doing an adaptation of this for a "medieval skirt" with a bow tie in the back. I also appreciate the fact that you take care of yourself, your nails are done and your hands themselves are lotioned and look soft. For a video that centers on watching your hands for an hour, I appreciate the fact that you take care of them
I don’t believe I’ve ever commented before even though I’ve been watching you for a year or more. But I just had to today for the great tip for hemming the skirt using the basting stitch!! I have never seen that done or heard of it. It’s going to be in my arsenal for sure! Thank you for all you do in sharing your tutorials. Your effort truly has made a difference in my sewing and I’m sure thousands of others. (I’m going back through your tutorials if you’re wondering why I’m commenting 2 years after you put this up 😃)
I love the way you did the hem! I would never have thought about inserting a basting stitch to ease in the hem like that. Thanks for the tip! Girl, you could wear a burlap bag and make it look like a million dollars. I love your web site!!!
Great video and I haven't even watched it all the way through - your demo of installing invisible zipper cleared up some questions I've had and which have prevented me from using invisible zippers, for the most part. They've been such a struggle for me. Thank you!
This was extremely useful. I'm 4' 10" short so as you can imagine, I have to hem all long skirts I buy. I appreciate you and how detailed you are. Thank you.
Thank you so much for showing how to install the invisible zipper with clarity. I have this pattern and I'm looking forward to making it now that I have your sew along. God Bless
Love your sewing project to make a maxi skirt. Which is very helpful and economical for saving time and money. The good news is that you can get the fabrics and sewing notions inexpensively. At any fabric store, or at your local Walmart. Otherwise you are a Great Teacher. And I Love the fabric for this Skirt.😍😍😍👏👏👏💖💖💖💖💖💖 Byron Thomas
Anita, thank you so much for this video! I had never seen the basting stitch method for easing in curves. I have been avoiding curved hems in shirts because it is such a pain. But I am going to give that a try for my next one! (I also wish I had already bought this pattern because I need more skirts in my wardrobe!)
Bluprint has announced they will be closing in the next few months. I've been sewing most of my 69 years and ai still learn (or remember things I've forgotten) every time I watch your videos Now, with a broken wrist I have plenty of time to binge watch
Thank you so much for this tutorial. You made so simple to understand😉 Unfortunately, I measured too small so the skirt doesn't fit. It's about 3 1/2 too small in the waistline 😢
I have a Rowena iron but I don’t use it because I’m confused on what water to use could you please give me information on what water you use in your rowena....thank you in advance
Hi Belinda! I just use regular tap water in my iron. That's a good question. I never thought the type of water. Hmmm... I'm gonna take a look at my owner's manual and see if they suggest a particular type of water.
Sonia Raine I checked and the instructions for my iron say not to use distilled water, just tap water. It has a calcification indicator and has been fine so far. I clean it when the indicator light comes on.
Hi Lynette! After you try on your skirt, then you'll know if you need to cut off any length. It will be different for each person depending on height and desired length. You don't have to though if the length works for you.
That has go to be the hardest way to insert a zipper that I have ever seen. I do the same thing with the zipper that you do up to the spot where you rip out the basting stitch. Leave the basting stitch in and just lay the zipper down (face down) along the seam and pin it down. Then sew the zipper down one side, across the bottom and up the other side. Then rip out the basting stitches. Voila! One zipper in!
Not hard for me at all, Linda. Yes, I've done what you suggest too, and I prefer the way I do it. So glad that there are different ways to achieve the same result. Do what works for you.
Miss Anita this is Stephanie remember me asking you about a green suit that you were wearing is actually a green coat but you can wear it as address as well as McCall’s pattern 7256 and I have been looking for this pattern all over the place I cannot find it at all would it be possible for you to make me a copy of your pattern or see if your store where you’re located it would have a parent I need it in a larger size and I also needed in the smaller side so I will need to if you can do that for me I’ll be greatly appreciate it thank you
Hi Stephanie! Oh okay, yeah, that pattern is out of print. I can't print the pattern for you and our store throws out old patterns. This one is really old so I'm pretty sure there isn't one left but I will try to remember to check the next time I'm at JoAnn's.
Thank you Miss Anita I’ve been looking for the pattern online as well so I’m gonna keep searching for it until I find it so hopefully I’ll find it by Monday thank you so much and like I said before you looked gorgeous in that dress dress coat.

Great video Lots of useful tips. Can you make some videos on sewing a men's dress shirt or men's jeans? Thanks.
Thank you for watching. Probably won't do men's jeans but a shirt may be in the future.

Hi Belinda! I just use regular tap water in my iron. That's a good question. I never thought the type of water. Hmmm... I'm gonna take a look at my owner's manual and see if they suggest a particular type of water.

Hi Anita..... I'm watching before sewing....when you did a basting stitch before placing the zipper, you did a longer stitch length, right?
Lynette Patrice Hi Lynette! Yes, that’s correct. The longest stitch on your machine.
Baisting stitch is the longest stitch length on your machine.
