very pink floydy, i like it alot. Porcupine tree makes for awesome listening when you're high, arriving somewhere but not here has been one of my favorite songs for a few years now but i'm only just getting round to listening to more of their stuff now
trashface123 you go from lightblub sun to fear of a blank planet and you observe a band broadening their horizons and trying alot of different styles. That's the way progressive music should be. P>T. embodies what a prog band should be IMHO.
"Whoops," the engineer said, "musta fallen asleep there at the end! Oh well, what's five minutes more wax to a big record company? They'll just think there's a HIDDEN TRACK in there somewhere---a little joke, heh-heh!"
Personal interpretation: His "Glass Arm Shattering" is losing something critical to yourself (a metaphorical arm) that you can never really obtain again (I'd like to see you try and glue a glass piece back together), not in its original form at least. For me the song lyrics, personally, point to a relationship that the narrator felt was a part of him and it was shattered, which he can never regain in the "exact" same sense again. I honestly don't know how the song fits into the album as a whole, so I could be wrong about what SW was going for.
+Nathaniel Bauer He's always been purposely vague about how exactly the album fits together, since he still wants to turn it into a movie at some point.
+Nathaniel Bauer To me, the glass arm being referred to is to say that it is both critical to meaningful action (arm), and also because that it is fragile or bound to fail in some objective sense. (glass). The fact that the arm is shattering is legendary of all Steven Wilson music. It's simply a heavily recurring theme in his music that there is an understanding of fragility or futility, and a melancholic or acceptance of reality.
Chris Laforest Yes, yes exactly. I think we are both getting at the same heart of the idea, but, I think you phrased it much better. Thanks for the input.
Feeling are you touching? Feeling are you blind? Feeling are you touching? Feeling all your love Seen it though a windscreen Seen it through the clouds Seen it in a pantry Seen it in your heart Feeling are you touching? Feeling all your love Feeling are you touching? Feeling all your love
Listen to this track AND Moonloop at the same time, they sound awesome together!! Fucking Brilliant!! They're even better together if you run them both through a mixer to manipulate the frequencies of each track and blend the volumes to match seamlessly! IF you never smoked or took pharmaceuticals to expand your mind, you definitely will want to after blending those two tracks into one piece!
Feeling all your touching Feeling all your blood Feeling all your touching Feeling all your love Seen it through a windscreen Seen it through the glass Seen it in a bad dream Seen it in your heart Feeling all your touching Feeling all your love Feeling all your touching Feeling all your love
Y'know, it's funny... ...After announcing their reunion, I saw on Spotify that these guys had released a new single called "glass soul shattering." It was essentially a shortened version of this that also contained some trumpet-playing from Gregory T. Randolph (at least, that's who I think played trumpet on that track, because his name was listed as one of the artists). But when I went to look here on TH-cam, all I found was the auto-generated artist video, credited under "Various Artists." I wonder if it'll be part of the new album?
Oh, don't worry about it man. Porcupine Tree weren't involved in the making of it at all. Spotify has a loophole where you can post music collaborating with *any* artist. Gregory, in this case, made an unauthorized remix of this song without permission from Porcupine Tree, and uploaded it as a "collab". I think it's taken down by now
+tatonkaa This is so untrue. Take Lazarus, Shallow and Anesthetize. Another threesome? Sound of Muzak, The Sky Moves Sideways (Phase 1 or 2, whichever you'd like) and Dislocated Day. I could really go on but I think you get the point.

A perfect end to a perfect album
Powerful, consistent and a hell of a strong natural drug.
This band has it! The music relaxes the mind, and is just overall well written, and performed.
Been a fan now for 18 years. First band I ever saw live. will love them til the day i die
Lucky girl
how could someone give something so beautiful a thumbs down? ffs.
That drum fill at 4:50! So simple but powerful!
It's a good one, I also like the one at 2:23
Gavin Harrison everybody. Amazing person and occasionally drum god
This song made me feel high idk how or why but man i really love this song

Geez. You have been missing out. Then again I don't really care for Arriving....
made up for lost time in the last 4 or 5 months though :D

This song is such an endorphin high, almost post orgasmic, with oxytocin to make you feel warm & loved as you drift in space-time.
This song is for some damn reason, so engimatic..of all of PT and perhaps Wilson's solo material.
You mean emblematic?
wish I found this a month ago. this would make for wonderful study music.
Then you woulda PASSED, eh? Not to worry: If Buddy Hollymania ever catches on...
FOUND YOU AGAIN!

Glass Arm Shattering Is A Great Song And Fantastic Wonderful Masterpiece By Porcupine Tree.
You sound like you’re being held hostage in Steven Wilson’s basement
@@josephstalin2829 The creator is collecting people to star in his mastertape
It´s espectacular, the best progressive of last time

Nathaniel Bauer Absolutely perfect interpretation. Makes sense to me!

Burgundy Walls I was so hyped that he mentioned porcupine tree. I love this band and I'm excited more people are learning about them!
When did he mention them??!!
@@_alex_merrick_ i am also curious
Why is there 5 minutes of dead air on this recording?
I lost it today. I think its Perfect song to end it forever.
Just here or the video has 11 min?
Why all the dead space at the end of the song?
usmcsdi69 This is from the bonus addition, a 5 min break was followed by the track "shesmovedon" :3
I added it to a playlist but took it off because I always have to open up the page & manually start the next song :(
Comfortably numb reincarnate
cool
So the remaining five minutes of the song is to miss your ex? Ok get it😭
EY, DIS SHIT TIGHT YO. GET EM DAT MORE VIEWS ER SUMTIN AAAAAAA
Why does this upload have 11 min when the other ones have ~7 min? Is this an extended version or something?
there was a 5 min silence before the bonus song 'shesmovedon' on the cd :)
I can't help but think this was influenced so much by Svefn-g-englar.
maybe Svefn-g-englar was influenced by this :3
Svefn-g-englar came out in 1999, this song in 2005. So I think PT took some inspiration from Sigur Ros.
@@sajeevsingh2298 why must pt fans say cringy things to defend the band's originality..

From 6:10 onwards it's very quiet.

Every song from Steven Wilson sounds the same.............my favorite part was 5:55

It's funny. All the songs he posted are basically in the same key. He sounds good, but it's a bit repetitive.

Lazarus - A Major

Anesthetize - C minor

The Sky Moves Sideways switches keys all the time
Dislocated Day - G# harmonic minor
