Hey man, 2.7 Blood DK here. I've noticed that you're not using abom limb on big pulls that require constant active mitigation. It's utility lies within it constantly prevent spell casting through pulling them in, alongside buffering melee attacks for smoother incoming damage profiles, its makes a huge difference in defensive utility with large pulls. Best of luck in your journey :) loving the series.
Loved the video but was thinking the SAME thing. Abom Limb always up to help group :D. Also, walking into a pack without death's caress'ing first (gives you bone shield charges). Love the journey, BDK is NOT for the faint of heart for sure.
Yes Vesp. Love these vids. Your streams go live when my WFH day is dying down so it provides that perfect gap to when I can then play after work, and the vids are a bonus! Keep it up mate
Such an accurate depiction of starting to play BDK. One tip: Death's Caress is your friend on pull. It has travel time, gives you RP and 2 bone shield charges 😇
AMS is your best friend :D the way you live the start of the double guardian pulls is pre-AMSing before they hit you with anima slash, to avoid the dot - the slash itself isn't much damage, it mostly comes from the dot they apply. by the time the second set comes out, you have boneshield, RP, some other mobs are probably dead, it's not that big of a problem. same with soulcleavers at the start, or flamerenders in grimbatol, poison on arak last boss, void corruption on SV last boss, etc etc etc. whenever you get a magic debuff, the next time you come against it, try popping AMS first, you can skip a lot of what makes tanking dangerous. (ofc your ilvl is so low compared to the dungeons you're running, so it's already impressive you're living at all :D )
Was gonna say looks like he never has abom limb on CD that ara Kara pull on the 5 wouldn’t of been nearly as bad if when he planted he popped abom and kicked the mini boss instead of what he did kick. But I’ve also been playing Blood DK for abit so got a better understanding of this stuff I suppose
I love this so much. I like how he says tanks are lying stuff doesn't hurt then he's just floor pov on a +7 mists. I had fun in 7 mists on my prot warrior when I was gearing it I got the double room and pulled all of it. triple guardian was interesting xD I'm normally a healer. I'm loving this series and only found you on youtube a couple days ago listing a +10 as a +2. Edit: I'm a disc priest main, would love to see you do this as a disc priest xD
Dancing Rune Weapon into Death's Caress on pull gives you 11 bone shield charges which you can then use for Bonestorm or Tombstone to instantly get Runic Power, setting you up pretty safely on the start of a pack, cheers mate love the series
I main a Prot Warrior but also have an alt Blood DK. They are so different... Tanking with the DK is so stressful as the HP bar jumps so much lol... My warrior incoming dmg is so much smoother and slower than the DK it's insane but the tool kit for DK is so fun especially grip.. Such an amazing skill! Love this series!
That's normal for tanks and cooldowns. Honestly it's similar to playing DPS where you basically just send them on CD as long as they won't all overlap at once.
Siege have a lot of this nasty little mobs that seems harmless compared to big guys, but they do some unholy level of damage to tanks. On first pull there are 2-4 (i dont remember exact amount) litlle mobs that do almost insta tankbuster that reduces haste and it trucks, there are several of them and they are not desynced, so its better to pop vamp blood+icebound(or rune tap) second before pull. Also mobs that teleports to random ranged and do aoe also cast very nasty bleed on tank so a couple of this bleeds could kill you very fast.
yo, did played BDK since S2 DF & tanked earlier this season, here's what i can say from experience, i'm not r1 world, but i did some good performance & survive pretty well up to +13 keys (haven't tried higher yet) so if it can help : (coffee time, it's long) runes = gain over time (affected by haste only) runic power (RP) = gained by heart strike / vampiric strike (vamp on san layn hero talent) only, you can't generate from anything else (night elf racial but... yk) bones = gained by pressing marrowend(3) / death caress(2) / dancing rune weapon (5) on open you need bump up you're bones on range by pressing dancing rune weapon(DRW) into death caress(DC) (DC x3 cause of DRW) so you get instantly 11bones before getting hit by the first melees you play bonestorm so you can press it for aggro generation, another cool combo for aggro is DRW + blood boil + consumption, wich will do some great off-heal & DR while you finishing setup. even if you pull under 11 bones by doing the DRW+DC combo you need to press extra defensive for opener also, except some hard pulls on higher keys u'll prefer to press "small" defensives to open a pull, rune tap, lichborne, ams if magic... also; at the end of a pull, when all mobs are nearly dead, refresh you're bone shield & blood shield if you can, DC refreshes the 30s cooldown before boneshield expire, spend some RP on death strike even if it's not needed so you have extra HP for next pull opener. when you have great setup in a pull, you can just do classic dps rotation & press defensives on pretty like all tank busters, pretty rare to press defensives on something else than openers & tank busters, can happen sometimes if too many casts are incoming but pressing heart strike, death strike & blood boil do the job most of the time, so you can focus more on cut/ccs. in the video you said "grips don't really cut mobs so it's kinda pointless", true & false at the same time, it doesn't cut, but it restart the cast, if you're group don't have cut, you give extra delay to let their (or you're) come back. DRW if basically duplicating you're weapon 2 extra times, you're blood boil DoT is also applied 3times on every mobs, & their effects also stacks, more DR, more off-healing, more damages, you'll need it on every opener, you reduce the cooldown with heart strike so even if it says 2mins cooldown, it's more about 1min in reality, sometimes less, NEVER press it at the end of a boss / pull, it's preferable to press another defensive or use ur purgatory (cheat death) on end of a pull, without DRW some openers can just oneshot you & you won't recover from purgatory fast enough (mainly bcuz of panic). seen a guy named DefinetlyNotVlad attempting on BDK KSH during dragonflight & he just gave up bcuz of the stress it caused to him, in fact, that class is fun cuz it's like dancing on a razorblade, you can die at any moment from something no one suspected to be dangerous, but if you can go without stressing & panicking, it feels really nice to play, don't give up buddy, atm you need more gear, you play good, watching you're spells there's not that much errors, you just overdefend to some incoming damages & run out of defense for the next one. that's how it felt like by watching you around"
My newest pet peeve is people mong facing into keys in levelling greens and expecting to get carried when there is so much free and easy loot out there
Once I went to do this with my demon hunter, the first pack was good, but in the second, no one kicked and we took 3 fears, everyone died and a paladin said "I thought you knew how to tank"
I'm a 2.7k MW Monk on track to 2.8k. If your mist weaver has chichis up you will not die and can do the crazies stuff you can imagine assuming your team can chain cc or kick stuff like the fear. When chichi is out i do like almost 2m hps and until it drops off (lasts 12 sec) the party is effectively immortal. You will never know with pugs where your mw is at and if they're running Dance (I do and it's my opinion it's actually over powered contrary to most monks who use empowered jadefire.) But a good MW should never let you die on big pulls unless you started it already everyone low hp, or mw is somehow oom (it happens sometimes,) or they have no cds. But mw need to cleave for their fatter heals so a mw with a single target is going to do more off-casting to heal 1-2 of the dps but in a big pack like 3 or more enemies they can just pump damage and heals. At higher keys healer damage is very important to timing them. This should incentivize you to do bigger pulls rather than a lot of smaller pulls with a fistweaver monk. The more things there are to hit the more healing they can do repeatedly and they're mobile and have like a 15 sec cd kick and 3 cc's. A lot of monks don't know this but you can kick with paralysis with no intention of long cc'ing the ads. I even do this in raid to stop ads from casting soemthing and i do it in places like gb where canceling the cast makes the mob restart a long cast or they won't repeat it at all after, making it effectively a second interrupt. This is all to say I don't think you should be scared to engage a large pull as long as your mw is in melee range and dps is kicking
on the 2nd boss of seige those bombs don't strike for a long time, I side step a tiny amount then wait for the second ring to go out then get out and make sort of a small square. People running around and spreading them everywhere is more chaotic
as a tank main i will tell you we are tanking emotional damage as well ... if the group fails its always our fault and we are always to blame :D So just tank it with grace and move on to a another group :D
Of all the leavers I've had, it literally has been always the tank. Not once I had a dps or a healer leave. And not once have I seen people flaming the tank. Only once I've seen a premade of healer + dps being a bit spammy in chat telling the tank what to do, but it wasn't a flame war. You don't see it because you don't play with tanks, since you are the tank. But they're by far the most cringe and toxic out of all the pugs I've had.
I have to say, dude. Buy some 564 gear for all slots where you don't have that at least. You are just tormenting the peeps running these dungeons with you. A bit of gold spent in the AH goes a long way to give you a bit more survivability.
Especially on a Forti week and often doing very big pulls. Like man you have these dps doing over 1 mil overall in a 5 and 6, do small pulls. Learn the big ones once you have the spec down AND some gear.
Blood dks are super easy to read if they drop to sub 10% every global then you have to spam heal em as they don't rotate cds properly, but there are really few healers than can keep bdk that aint playing properly alive like rdruid otherwise they are on their own with you passive healing. Being resto shaman is huge giving em 10% extra hp and passive dr.
the reason you're using all your cooldowns on pull is beause you are cold starting your defensive rotation. You have no Bone shield, runic power, or other buffs rolling.
you need to be using consumption off cd most of time. ramps ur blood plague damage, heals and insta gives back runes to spend for more rp. if ur cd for drw is above 30 seconds use bonestorm or tombstone to reduce cd.
Actually crazy that you can just pick up any spec and play it perfectly from the get go, seriously one of the goats of all time bro! Absolutely loving this series, was gonna say would love to see it on a spec you can't play next but I don't think it exists xD! Wollop!
it does, but it doesn't put the mob ability on cooldown. so it stops the cast but the mob can just start casting it again immediately - good for delaying a cast if nobody has interrupts, but could waste a kick if you pull right before someone tries to kick it
