I decided to upload this video as a request from a friend. Opening honeycomb before extraction of honey is kind of satisfying to watch and it has ASMR characteristics. Sounds of removing bee wax that contains honey inside honeycomb, sounds of birds and bees outside.... I didn't have camera holder with me so it is a bit shaky clip and it was sudden decision I was in a hurry to get it done. There is room for improvement but I hope you're gonna like it anyway.

Certain people with trypophobia can handle certain things like honeycomb. I have trypophobia and I can handle honeycomb. But when it comes to giant clusters of mushrooms I can’t handle it. Maybe do some research about the phobia.

All looks normal to me and ready for extraction. I like the fact that you can clearly see the honey has been made from different plants as I am sure it tasted really good as all raw honey does.

I would like to thank you. I have trypophobia (and it fucking sucks) but this was something that helped me a lot during exposure therapy and has helped me feel even a slightly bit more comfortable and calm when put in situations where I am exposed to things like this so thank you

Today is the first time I've watched this tool being used in what appears the be the intended method. Every other vid I've see uses it like a scraper and it makes one hell of a mess. so much cleaner this way.
A lot of times they simply use an electricly heated knife or just heat it up and cut over the top of the comb, however this particular beekeeper decided to use the scraper which is usually used to just destroy the comb for the honey, but they've found a method of taking off the caps which I personally have never seen before. Still I'd prefer the heated knife because it smells knife as well as being quite satifying.

Major Tom almost all bee keepers use it like a rake. This is the first person I saw using it to scrape off the wax caps. This method might be more damaging to the comb so that may be why not too many people do it this way.
Its Ellie the comb looks fine. I honestly think you could do it either way, but this way might be more efficient because you aren’t scraping off as much honey as you do whilst you’re taking the honeycomb

A word of advice: instead of starting from the bottom start from the top so you wouldn’t need to go back and get the pieces out. If you never had tea with honey you should try it with unsweetened green tea, it taste wonderful

Personally I just eat the wax.
I personally leave the honey to sit for a while in a closed container until it crystallizes and then it has a really rich flavor and awesome texture, you really have to do it with real honey from local hives because most store honey is at least partially filler/corn syrup.

Hello this vid was so good and I was wondering how I could purchase honey comb somewhere or like what do you recommend
+catelyn & nora williams & johnson well I don't know where are you from but usually there are probably beekeepers somewhere in your area so you can ask around if anyone sells or produces bee products. We supply our self in stores specialized for this kind of stuff or through bigger beekeepers who get their stuff from honey comb factory (i don't know exact english term). But we exchange our own pure bee wax for already molded base honey combs because we don't have machine for it. This already molded honey comb is not 100% pure bee wax they add some percentage of paraffin inside so if you need pure bee wax ask directly beekeepers.
It'll be better if you go to a bee keeper, prices are high, but it's worth it. If you don't have a local bee keeper, go to a Safeway and they'll have it on prices from 20-30 prices for a block.
Buy it locally, it'll taste better, stores often have filler in their honey (In the US it only has to be 20% actual honey to be legally allowed to be advertised as honey), most people however don't like selling honeycomb as it makes the bees rebuild comb from the bottom up and unnecessarily destroys comb.

btw if you use a paint roller covered in a sheet of those rubbery plastic hair things you can roll it over the comb to uncap it easier and it does almost no damage to the comb itself allowing you to re-use the sheets if you want. Provided you're doing something like spinning the sheets of comb to get the honey out.
It does mean your honey will have more tiny wax pieces in it than usual but that's easy enough to deal with.
(you can also buy a rubber pronged mat and cut strips to glue to a paint roller. if the prongs are small enough.)

It's Called A.M.O.R thanks. We removed these frames or second hive box just before winter hibernation from one colony that's the reason they were not full. But everything that was filled with honey was nicely closed up and could wait warmer days for harvest.

You should have left the frames that were less that 60% some of those were def too early and besides since it wasn't full that was also probably a winter feed they were making..... Beekeepers are only suppose to harvest EXTRA honey not all not half.... The extra/excess honey that the bees don't need/can't eat

I clicked because I wasn't sure if it was going to be uncomfortable or not, and also because I try to "challenge" my fears every now and then. For example, I have an *actual*, panic-inducing driving phobia, but still tried to drive a car today for a few minutes today, even though I ended up panicking with tears of pure terror flowing from my eyes, and honestly couldn't do it for very long before I had to stop, as I simply couldn't stop shaking and crying from the fear. But enough about that! This video wasn't nearly as bad for me because trypophobia is not a "real" phobia for most people, just a very uncomfortable, disgusting feeling. And I sure as hell don't blame the OP for uploading it, because it must be very satisfying for people who don't have this issue. :)
