They look awesome! And they totally pull the look together. What kind of pirate doesn't have some stolen loot on their fingers? Was that hair a total headache to reroot? That looks like such thick weight yarn, I feel like it would have been difficult with a reroot tool. Regardless of how you did it though, I like it. She has very strong features that are almost reminiscent of a black woman and that hair just pops. I wouldn't want to tangle with her on the seven seas :'D
Exactly. They were definitely acquired via... Questionable Means. 😜 It was actually not too bad! Each strand definitely is quite thick, but it's also not very tightly twisted, so you can twist in the same direction to tighten it into a much thinner strand which fits easily into the reroot tool needle~ Also, I wasn't rooting it very close together, so I didn't really have to worry about the strands breaking through the edges or anything.

I bought my first doll to repaint last weekend, a Cupid from Ever After High missing both her hands! I was going to try and find another Ever After High doll and borrow her hands but maybe now I'll find a way to work around it. Btw, I'd love to see your reroot of her, if you have the footage.

There's a video tutorial I just watched that shows you how to make replacement hands from polymer clay☺ You could also just make a mold of a different dolls hands so nobody has to be handless

Omg! They should become friends when you do! 😁 Yes, it is; the yarn itself already had that look/texture, so I just used a whole strand per plug. It's very bulky so I didn't fill every spot from the original root. Then I just braided some strands together~!
I found some yarn which looked like this already, so I just did a yarn reroot! My first video is a tutorial of this method (I skipped the untwisting step) but it's not great, so I'm probably going to make a new one soon! Then, I just braided some strands together in pairs or fours for the twists~!

I'm new to your channel and love your work. I'm trying to learn repainting smaller dolls; I usually reborn baby dolls and the process seems very different. What brand pencils do you use and are you priming to get the watercolor pencils to adhere to the vinyl? Thanks in advance for any advice
I use a couple of different brands, and yes, I'm using a spray sealant as a base/primer, as well as to layer during the process and as a final seal! I've had a couple of requests for a materials video, so keep an eye out! But until then, all my materials are always listed in the description~ That's interesting, though-what seems different about the process? Do you mostly use paint?

As far as reborning, I do use paint, but I treat it like putting makeup on - I actually use makeup sponges instead of brushes and the paint is very watered down so that it's more a tint. I also bake the doll to seal. I admire all the artists like you have so much control of your brush, and who also have no "paint lines". I'm practicing, watching videos, and hope to get close to as good as those I've subscribed to. Fingers crossed.

I love the concept a pirate cat.. I love the outfit. However, I really don't like the eyes. I have 4 cats and lived with many over the years. I've never seen cat eyes like these.. I know she is a pirate and has a mean streak. However, she creeps me out... Lol..

where did you get the hook and bracelets?
I painted a hook we had in the house (I don't know exactly what it's called). The jewellery is all just gold wire and a tiny gem~!
