Absolutely Masterclass from the living legend Mousasi. Gegard is one of the most complete yet underrated fighters to ever step in an octagon.
Gotta feel for Rory. Kid has so much potential but took years off his career with those epic battles against Lawler. People don't understand how much Rory's been through physically. Kid is tough as they come.

do yourself a favor and look at the record of mousasi. he's basically fought the best of the best his whole life. in a row he fought and won against: melvin manhoef (sub), Jacare (KO), Mark Hunt (sub), Babalu (KO), Sokoudjou (TKO), Gary Goodridge (TKO). what a beast.
Shame he was completely robbed of a UFC title shot.

@@Red_AIert Mousasi has bad habit in crazy punch combos when he charge on his opponent, but I think he would fight smart from distance and try take a fight into a clinch or ground. Definitely dream MW fight...even with Whittaker could be awesoem fight.

Imo I dont really think romero put that much of an effort in taking him down, because even if izzy got up he could've kept chasing him against the fence. Romero is just one of those guys that can wrestle very well. But chooses not to use it. Like Gaethje. It's a shame really.

Middleweights weigh 15lbs more, hell, it was only a 10lb difference here and look at what happened. 200lbs is small for a middleweight, most are closer to 205, or even higher. And as Rory didn't want to put on any more weight, he'd be outsized every time.

King mo wrestled fucked him for 5 rounds in Strikeforce. Souza submitted him, hall flying kneed him, machida froze him twice going 1-1, second being a spilt decision. lovata neutralized him as well. Shittttt he even drawed against Keith jardine in Strikeforce. I could name 5 middleweights with a better resume then this guy.
Andrew Brundin he only drew with jardine cuz he got a point taken away, and even then he should have won.

It was a one mistake fight. Rory risked it by taking him down in "all or nothing" style. I really like him but things didn't really go his way for sometime. He's a legit beast.
Mousassi looked an easy 20#'s heavier, props but hot damn Rory got smashed.

100% right, that’s what happens when you move up in weight without really adjusting your body to being actually bigger than the 185 limit... and then a cut, Rory just gained weight to 185 and probably focused on cardio. However Gegard has always been a natural 185 with a good cut.
