One thing to note is if you set up your private game you can up the amount of resources or look at ones you're joining. You can even go as far as starting with the highest gear so many ways to customize if you don't want to play the "normal" way.
While this does help with the tedium you will soon find that there's not much else to do if you remove or simplify the gear progression. As M said, it's mostly about pvp fights and competition or cooperation between players to keep the game fresh, without it you'll be bored long before reaching max lvl unlike sth like Valheim that has the proc gen exploration and a really immersive building system to keep it fresh.
@@ibsmartfitness817 See I had no idea u could decrease resource and building times. The amount of customization in how you want to play does not skimp on options. Love that!

A bunch of my friends and i had a server during early access. Towards the end we changed the server settings to increase resources stacks and reduce research times, this really helped alleviate the boring linearity of the upgrade system.
I enjoy this game so much more then Valheim. The level of polish the devs put on this title can not be understated and this is hands down the easiest and fastest inventory management in any survival game period. They allow you to store and organize 1000's of items with a single click faster then any other game in the genre and they launched with that feature and everyone else had to play catch up. The only game that might do it slightly better is pal world which allows you to craft from any storage box. V rising was quite a pallet cleanser after the boring mess that was nightingale.
I still prefer terraria's storage systems. Store to all nearby chests just feels so satisfying, emptying your whole inventory after a expedition of grinding with one click.
Something to consider, a dev somewhere mentioned that the game is balanced around small groups of 3-4 people. So if you are doing a solo game, you should up all of the gathering rates and crafting speeds.
As someone who has beaten the game 3 times now, the new brutal difficulty mode they added, completely makes it feel like a new game, in terms of the combat. Especially if you use a different caster focused build, as opposed to a fighter one, or whatever. It's not just stats, virtually all the bosses have new moves. And things you could just tank through before, you now have to pay vital attention to.
I have about 40 hours into the game. My biggest gripe is, unless you want to play solo, the castle decay is annoying because it forces you to treat the game like an MMO and log in daily even when you have stuff to do or want to play other games. I understand this is just for server / hosting reasons, but the constant threat of losing your stuff kills it. That being said, if you're into the game, I recommend just playing solo. Someone suggested playing solo, up the research time, etc., and the game becomes legitimately much funner than its vanilla setting.

@@MrPanGonzo Good to know, but playing PvE or PvP server doesn't give you this option, and we only leveled our base to Lv 3 so we could only get 7 days at a time and still lost 3 bases! I find its living world to be incredibly immersive, and its focus on boss fight progression ala terraria to be very enjoyable even solo. recommend to everyone. 9/10. decay, and timers can all be adjusted in server settings. and honestly its default is way more forgiving then Valhiem.. about midway you can get thralls, to farm goods for you. and of course, building multiple crafting benches with for the timers speeds those up. so decent levels of automation.

Been playing since day one of early access, restarted like 5 times now. Not once has the game felt repetitive, I just know where to get which resource, where the bosses are, etc. I always build in a different location so every castle is different. Highly recommend this game.
Brutal is more than it states, apparently it adds new attacks many of which actually made me think about what spells I was taking to a fight. Having Double Block can come in handy when a boss decides to throw truck-stop sized AoE's at you for the next 10s. Thank you so much for talking so extensively about the PvP / multiplayer aspect of this game! I've been very curious about V Rising, but haven't bought it because the info around everything multiplayer was too scarce for my liking to blindly spend 35 € on it. I like how this game is also a “girl friendly”. I can never get into any combat games, because they just don’t appeal to me at all. This one is an exception. It’s pretty, everything in this game looks nice, I love the style, bosses are very charismatic, players on pve seem to get along (except for the rifts), I had very nice interactions and help. I also loved organising the castle and, surprisingly, killing bosses. I played solo a year ago with gloomrot update and finished the game, and this time I played duo with my partner on brutal. As I’m not a skilled player with especially difficult bosses we developed a strategy: he’d start the boss, get him down to low hp, then I come in and finish the boss. Obviously, with some other bosses there was a different strategy, but this worked very well. So I feel like it’s a very nice game to play with your partner, even if she/he doesn’t usually like combat based games.
Thanks Mort. I appreciate your thoughts. Cool concept, but the idea that official server wipes occur every six months gave me pause. Really helped answer my questions.
Not sure if it was a bug. But I ran into when crafting say a plank, the automation would hang up on the first one and wouldn’t continue. I would play game in coop once more, cuz before 1.0 relese bosses had addatively increasing difficulty the more players are fighting it. And it includes not just health and damage increase, they implement new abilities and mechanics. 100% recommend
Great bid. How is this game co-op PVE? Sharing a castle and fighting with the bosses and progressing through the story? More of a question for comments than author.
Never got super late game; but to me the biggest thing was even in solo the lack of shared inventory. I get why in multiplayer it would break things, but not going to lie my power fantasy is somewhat broken by running up and down my stairs to grab some more resources because I didn't have enough to build what I wanted. Otherwise had a fun time, loved the blood boss variety especially.
@@Lockz1111 Oh of course; I can plan everything out as well, meticulously put every storage in the appropriate location. I guess if that's the genre of game it is that's fine. Doesn't mean I like it. Maybe Palworld and other games' shared inventory just spoiled me is all.

Brutal difficulty on a PvE server with low ping is the best way to play the game. Things you do have more weight (gear upgrades are meaningful and a must). decisions mean something and winning against a boss is always a dopamine rush.
it dosnt, you need to place castle heart and need to feed it with blood to not degrade, when you making private you can even turn that off and if you play multiplayer on some one always runing server once you feed heart full with blood it takes weeks to start degrade.
I played this for a bit in Early Access, and even though I played solo, I still had a bit of fun with it. (I stopped playing once they announced the multi-floor patch would reset all progress.) The big approach that I took that I think helped with it is that I considered it to be more of a sandbox. I didn't worry too much about what you could argue was the linear flow. For example, if the next named entity with V Blood was over in the east but I thought the area up in the north looked niftier -- even though it had a tougher named guy -- I went up north anyway! I know I ran into that Chaos Archer at one point, and that fight took a while of dodging and attacking. I also went and killed that Bandit King and the Armorer because it sounded like fun. (I think there was a quest too?)
I'm actually the 0.1% who's just playing this solo, for the heck of it. What I do is I normally switch on some TH-cam video in the background or listen to a podcast and just go about playing the game. And frankly, I'm having quite a bit of fun unlocking everything and getting new weapons etc. I do agree though that it's likely a much better game when you have mates to play with and a clan etc but I do prefer my lazy lassez faire way of playing. Though now that I think of it, maybe I will ask my buddy to come play with me...
The Muliplayer aspect echos my thoughts on it, I came in with the full release having seen a few reviews and it looked like a really cool Vampire game, I knew it had some form of Multiplayer but I thought it was like 4 player coop with light PvP, I should have looked further however as its very much been designed as a 24+ player server game and that's just not for me (I did give it a try, first server was a guy waiting to gank people, the next a guy waiting to gank people)
If you are new join an official pve server or start on your private server. For pvp domt join an official this goes for all these types of games. Look up a God community server, those have player moderstion

Hope they add more updates. Story quests with voice acting Arena mode Or arena mode on map where you can stake items Rng weekly bosses Leaderboards Puzzles Parkour This game can stay alive if they have consistent updates aside from cosmetics. Adding new bosses will only bring so many people back. They need to have something for players to come in weekly. Maybe world/server raid bosses, lol pretty much make it like RuneScape.
There are community servers that meet this criteria. However with the new update broke all the mods and so every server that uses mods are waiting for them to be fixed. This game was mostly made for PvP in mind, not PvE.
Decay is a non issue, in private simply adjust sertings or it doesnt drain when server is offline. In other servers its still not an issue, blood essence is found plentyful and you can craft/save up your own with the blood press and fill the heart for days in little time, with like 13+ days as max or so, can me more depending on server too. Decay is there to make sure public pvp and pve servers wont be stuck with dead castles spots nobody can take
The Devs really wanted to make this game a Multiplayer PVP thing, but it's simply unplayable on a PVP server. PvE with friends is fun, or solo with droprates x4. Otherwise feels too grindy.
They really shot themselves in the foot with how massive they made buildings. The map feels dead with even 50 players, but at the same time, there is virtually nowhere to make home when there is more than 50 players.
Man, I love this game for its offline mode and gameplay customizations. Love increasing the resource rate and drop rates for the enemies, as well as tweak their health to truly make me feel like a vampire mastermind, ha, ha, ha, ha.
I bounce off the game every time I lose track of crafting materials in storage... without the ability to craft from storage it becomes nothing more than a chore for me. If crafting gear weren't so critical to the flow of the game, I could understand it... but this sort of thing is so incredibly irritating to me, I cannot see past it.
As a casual player I'm worried that I'll play multiplayer and get attacked by much higher lvl players and keep getting everything taken from me. Is this the case?
What I don`t like about the game is that your gear is everything. I prefer is by researching and practicing magic, my magical power goes up, instead of crafting a higher tier ring.

This game has a solid 50 hours plus of solid solo play. The options available within the settings for solo play make this game entirely playable without other people. The only thing you’re missing is pvp. Every single other element of the game is fantastic and does not need the pvp to enjoy. Personally, for the money, I think this is worth it. I’ll be playing entirely solo. I’ve done about 30 hours in early access and I’ve got at least one good solid play through of the game ahead of me and that’s honestly looking to be another 30 or so plus hours at least.

I would play game in coop once more, cuz before 1.0 relese bosses had addatively increasing difficulty the more players are fighting it. And it includes not just health and damage increase, they implement new abilities and mechanics. 100% recommend
how did you change the cursor
This game looks like a fun trip and I will probably pick it up when I find some free time.
Build your castle in a more practical way then, put all the crafting rooms on the same floor or some shit nothings stopping ya lol
@@Lockz1111 Oh of course; I can plan everything out as well, meticulously put every storage in the appropriate location. I guess if that's the genre of game it is that's fine. Doesn't mean I like it. Maybe Palworld and other games' shared inventory just spoiled me is all.
It looks good, no interest in the building so I'm glad you can move your castle.
How do you move your castle.. I'm not exactly getting it ingame
@@rounakmanna5916 You have to build the "relocation castle heart" in the new location and then it gives you the ability to "rebuild" your castle. The key thing here is to understand it DOES NOT automatically move your castle for you. It just gives you the option to manually rebuild it without having to haul all the crap back yourself.
@@Eastwood69 so, this means I can build all the equipments but they will not require any resources... they will be automatically transported through that chest ??
Played the game with a friend in coop, greatly enjoying it. I do not like however how linear gear progression is.
Can a server turn off the castle decay? Does anyone know? Pls :)
Yes you can. There's a bunch of options if you make your own server.
@@eriakuswiftwindz7041 thanks heaps, am very likely to get the game.
Is the game playable offline without internet?
Can we finally get controller support?
was added with 1.0
@@MortismalGaming is it an in game option? Or down I have to use steam controller options to set it up? To my understanding last thing I heard from devs it would most likely be added when game comes to console. Ty
Edit: I haven’t played since early access launch. I really enjoyed, I’m just bad at keyboard and mouse.
Thanks for making a video free of the sponsored “clutches”
Brutal difficulty on a PvE server with low ping is the best way to play the game. Things you do have more weight (gear upgrades are meaningful and a must). decisions mean something and winning against a boss is always a dopamine rush.
Oh I kinda was interested in this for building but I don't think so if stuff is going to degrade over time.
You can make your own session and making it not degrade.
it dosnt, you need to place castle heart and need to feed it with blood to not degrade, when you making private you can even turn that off and if you play multiplayer on some one always runing server once you feed heart full with blood it takes weeks to start degrade.
@@giovanniivan Oh that's good, thank you!
This is the closest thing we are going to get to a Blood Omen; Legacy of Kain remake. Boy did they take a lot from that game.
Vae Victis!
this clip made me subsrcibe to you. Honest good review. You tell your view of it, and what you like and not. I agree with a lot of it too!
Nice voice to listen to, no ADHD screams etc. yet had a feeling of personality. Maybe slightly more personality and thoughts. Just aaa tiny weeny bit..
Thank You!
With the new Brutal difficulty, I'd recommend starting on an Official PVE server. Beat the game once, then play pvp on a custom server
Hope they add more updates.
Story quests with voice acting
Arena mode
Or arena mode on map where you can stake items
Rng weekly bosses
Leaderboards
Puzzles
Parkour
This game can stay alive if they have consistent updates aside from cosmetics.
Parkour? Really? You gotta be joking lol
@@Lockz1111 game already has parkour buddy
like it but hate the controller camera control.
Gonna pick this up to play with my gf, thanks Mortym!
The only thing that is preventing me to jump into the game is the decay.
I like this. Thank you
I bought it forever ago it looked fun I guess I can reinstall it. Who knows might be fun
Man, I love this game for its offline mode and gameplay customizations. Love increasing the resource rate and drop rates for the enemies, as well as tweak their health to truly make me feel like a vampire mastermind, ha, ha, ha, ha.
I would be all over this game if I didn't have to deal with the dumb base/lair busy work. I just want to enjoy the combat and ARPG aspect.
Im loving this game playing solo 9/10 hands down
Oh so this game is fully solo’able? That has my interest
So it is basically Valheim with vampires, got it!
Can someone tell me, why theirs not more Vampire games, when thats what people want, we love Vampires 🧛think CastleVania💙
I miss Battlerite :(
The Best Part of Vrising is NONE CLONE BOSS. YES, NONE CLONE/SKINCHANGE boss
As a casual player I'm worried that I'll play multiplayer and get attacked by much higher lvl players and keep getting everything taken from me. Is this the case?
If you're on a pvp server yeah its a possibility
What I don`t like about the game is that your gear is everything. I prefer is by researching and practicing magic, my magical power goes up, instead of crafting a higher tier ring.
This game kind of reminds me of Vampire the Masquerade Bloodhunt but as a moba
Day 1 of asking Mortim to do a "Thoughts" video on Enderal (not a review)
get over it people, stop bugging him
He has already said that he's never gonna do a mod review. Pretty sure his arguments still apply to "Thoughts" videos.
Day 1 of cringing at Novskyy621’s comments 🤦🏻♂️
@@vient9607enderal has its own steam page. It’s FAR from a mod
@@vient9607 He said he won't cover things that were made available for free in a regular "review" fashion where you also criticize things. A "Thoughts" video would be perfectly fine. People just want to see what he has to say about the experience that Enderal offers
PVE raids would be perfect
I didn't like that they were selling dlc in early access
Good show sir
I really wish these kinds of games were designed first and foremost around solo play, and THEN the devs worked on how these games work in multiplayer/co-op. It's kinda convoluted and off-putting trying to work out what settings I need just to play by myself
All you need is refinement time and maybe resource stuff thats it
I play this offline and enjoy it very much. The online aspect sounds more annoying than fun imo.
free comment on v rising.
Can i play coach co-up
Anyone miss Legacy of Cain?
Will you go back and 100% fallout 4 with all dlc. Game is so fun and I think it's aged particularly well
Yeah its on my to do list
@@MortismalGaming sweeeet
I don't no this game is awesome and way more fun single player , you get surevents you can change everything before you start a private session
❤
Let's get this straight. You're a vampire who fights monsters. You mean, you fight your relatives & friends?
the game feels too slow for me. its fun for like 45 minutes then i get bored and it sucks because it looks really cool. i just cant get into it even though i have tried several times
V Rising looks so cool, except I hate Online Service Games. I hate games designed around it, where a single player is an option and specifically games made for PVP where it doesnt make sense. I agree, I do not want to play online. This would be an instant buy if it wasnt designed around the PVP.
This game is amazing solo as well. I've put 80 hours into it and I'm about to put another 80 in for 1.0
This game has a solid 50 hours plus of solid solo play.
I'm the opposite of you, I am only interested in multipalyer and that part is super lacking in this game.
It seems like there is so much to do but when you look closer for a while it's really just a brawl.
Hi
Gronk!
This game was pretty decent but they made it clear they hate solo players so it got old incredibly fast.
If someone wants a game similar to V Rising but with way more playtime and progression give Albion Online a try :)
A static map is disappointing...
