She will always and forever be Harriet Vane in Dorothy L Sayers stories televised on British TV. Now a Dame and rightly deserved. Thank you Harriet Walter.
First thing I saw her in was The Assets, where she plays a dowdy American counter-intelligence specialist. She was great in that role and paired well with the other female lead in that series. Also saw her in The Crown as Lady Churchill. She's really quite stunning and classy.
My husband and I went to see a stage production of Busman’s Honeymoon just a few years after the Peter Whimsey series. It starred Edward Petherbridge and his wife Emily Richard. We loved it. By the way, Edward Petherbridge and Emily Richard we’re both key players in a notable RSC production of Nicholas Nickelby. I have a DVD of that stage production. It was brilliant.
Oh, and I love Other People's Shoes too! I've got a paperback copy at home, but I just borrowed a hardcover one from my University library, and it's got lots of pictures in it and it's a signed copy!
Emmy nominations (yes, PLURAL) this year: Outstanding Guest Actress In A Drama Series - 2022 - Succession, Outstanding Guest Actress In A Comedy Series - 2022 Ted Lasso - I am going to be watching only to see if Dame Harriet wins. I do not believe she needs to win anything to be known as one of the great actresses of our time, in the room with Vanessa Redgrave, Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Dame Harriet Walter is brilliant and I love her.
Can anyone help please I saw a play about the Enigma machine during world war 2 (a decoding machine and top top secret all to do with Blechley park) and im sure it stared Harriot I think it was her in it from the 70s called Play for today id love to see it again ive looked every were but cant find it . thanks .
“What brother on earth would do half so much for his REAL sisters, let alone HALF blood?” -Fanny Dashwood (Harriet Walter) to John Dashwood on his decision to help his sisters after their father’s death.
How old are the people in her audience here? I get a feeling it's a school class or something. But then it's very quiet, so maybe there aren't many people in the room at all. Who is it aimed at, though?

Harriet Vane certainly makes up for Fanny Dashwood. LOL
She is hauntingly beautiful! I love her mannerisms, so lovely and delicate.
Our Harriet Vane.
Perfection!
I love her voice and enunciation!

I wish she would have had more screen time as Lady Churchill.
@@TorontoIam i hope the same
Harriet Vane....oh, why didn't you do Busman's Honeymoon?
I love that book...the discussion on marriage and equality for that time was remarkable.

Was that "Breaking the Code"?
Was it the 1980 TV play 'The Imitation Game'? Link here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Imitation_Game_(play)
Gorgeous woman.
Love her - so smart and sensitive. Not Fanny Dashwood at all!
She was great wasn't she!
I loved her performance as Fanny. She played such a punch-able persona!
@@pianoman551000 those curls around her face!

you are a beutiful woman not plain at all
If you read between the lines there’s a lot of history and politics.
@rnbldsrnmsvlbl Yes, I can see now there is no audience actually there. Still, it feels directed to a young audience.
I always liked Harriet but not as Fanny Dashwood....
that part made me sit up and take notice...i am completely fascinated with Dame Harriet Walter now.
