Oh amazing! I’m so glad it was helpful. I’ve been using cloth pads for about 3 years and I would never go back. It just feels so much better knowing that there is natural fibres against my skin and not paper, paper plastic and chemicals. I’m still using the same cloth pads I made myself 3 years ago. A tip with drying the gusher pads is to hang to dry for a day then pop them in the dryer to finish the drying process and fluff them back up. That way all the slits lay evenly again and you know it’s fully dry.

Great video. Wondering if this pad moves around during the day with PUL bring the backing, and if having a flannel backing would be helpful or if it stays in place when walking and such during the day? Thanks in advance!
Thank you. It stays in place because the wings wrapping around the gusset mean it can’t move anywhere. You can certainly add a layer of flannel though. I find it best to make one and see if it feels right. The right layers, the right size etc, then adjust to suits your needs.

The rayon is the fibre type. The fabric is stretch French Terry 66% Bamboo Rayon/27% Cotton/7% Lycra Spandex Oeko-tex Certified. Yes it will probably shrink and you’ll need to get its absorbency started by washing and drying it in the dryer (if possible) 3 times before you cut anything out.

You’re so welcome. Both bamboo and hemp have very similar absorbency however hemp tends to become stiffer after about 20 washes. There for I recommend bamboo instead. The bamboo French Terry I use is approx 70% bamboo and 30% organic cotton. Hope that helps.

Yes you can absolutely use zorb instead of the French Terry as the core. You would make it exactly the same. The zorb would be the core and still keep the cotton flannel layers for the top as you don’t want a full panel of zorb against the skin.
Hello, I have a Brother 9V900 sewing machine and I use a cheap $20 walking foot which makes sewing through bulky fabrics (and stretchy fabrics) really easy. My serger is a Brother 3034D. You can of course make these with any sewing machine and you don’t need a serger. If you don’t have one, a zig zag stitch along the edge works well to flatten and stop any fraying. I also have a 45 year old Janome that was my great grandmothers which still works beautifully.
I did make one pair but I found that i didn’t like wearing them as without wings, they had to be quite tight around the legs to stop any leaks. And they take longer to dry than the pads. I think they would be great for some though. I would recommend making the pad and sewing it in flat to a fully made pair of underwear, rather than trying to stitch it in like a gusset section. The seams get too bulky if you do it gusset style.

And how do you think they make all those sanitary products? Lots of water, chemicals, lots of electricity. They then get used once and go into landfill where they will take hundreds of years to break down. Every woman needs to use between 5 and 30 sanitary products each month. Do you understand the amount of waste that is?
I used sewing Velcro for the pad closure. lookin forward to trying these. Pads are just getting too expensive and not good for the environment. thanks for the video.
I made my own regular flow cloth pads a few years ago and they feel sooo much better on the body. I still have the exact same pads, they last for so many years!
Hi, welcome! Yes washing and putting them in the drier fluffs up the fibres without any shredding. You don’t need to use the drier though. Or just finishing them off in the drier works too if they are still a little damp. They will be softer and fluffier.

Wish I had had someones telling about the need for postpartum pads 40+ years ago. After tens months of not hing while pregnant, I was bleeding for 6 weeks st raight after my kids came.Now I have occasional problems with incontinence and these sound like a good solution. I know at one point I had a pack of PUC fabric for something for baby that I had picked up along the way, but I'm not sure I have it anymore. All t her rest looks like scrap fabric.

Yes you sure can. You could use zorb, mulitple layers of cotton flannel (old sheets or pjs), old towels (although that would be thicker), 100% cotton fleece. Anything natural fibre eg cotton, hemp, bamboo.

I had bought a 10 oz one and that wasn't enough I'm a heavy gusher. So would i start with 400 gsm of the vamboo terry

The name “Gusher” pad was given for those whom have menstrual cycles that tend to gush and it helps capture the blood quickly.

It really depends on how wide each of the fabrics are sorry. They will vary from different manufacturers.
You can print out the pattern, cut it out and measure x the number of layers for each piece and shape.
Hav you made any incontinence panties such as design comfort. I'm interested in making something like that also..

Tell me is one meter mean one yard.
1 metre is a little larger than 1 yard. You can use an online calculator to see the difference. The pattern is marked with both cm and inches though.
Where did you get the pu fabric? Did I miss you saying that?
You can buy it on eBay and many fabric stores. It’s called PUL waterproof fabric, sorry I kept calling it PU but ignore that, it’s PUL.
