Note: at 8:15 don't just press delete. Press ctrl+delete to delete the two edges plus the vertices -all in one go.

Question should all models be smoothed?

Hi, no not at all, it's always down to the end look and what you are trying to achieve . If you can achieve the look you are going for without smoothing or making the model high resolution then that is a good thing . If the detail you need requires a smooth then go for it.

@@MayaGuytutorials i disagree every model for films/not game model should have topology thats supports smoothing
      and should get smoothed

@@jonathanshneider6678 Hi thanks for your comment. That is what I said - it's always down to the end look 'and what you are trying to achieve' - meaning, if you are working in games then no, if you are working in film then perhaps yes. However I have worked in both vfx studios for commercials and in games and have seen artists ripped apart for adding too much detail with smooths just because they thought it might help. No, if the asset looks as good not smoothed as it does smoothed then it will always be the un smoothed version that will be best used for the pipeline especially if your scene is going to be heavy anyway or the model is insignificant and not close to any action. To have your model ready for a smooth 'if' it is needed is definitely what you should do but do not smooth everything just because you are working in film or commercials..often a smooth will happen at render time if needed also.
