I tried both of them today in the store. the Kawai was everything. the sound was much better and the touch felt right. Yamaha sounds a bit too electric to me. I bouhgt the Kawai.
I bought the kawai kdp110 because of Rudy's review in UK there was a lack of reviews on it. The piano sounds great the actions quite heavy compared to other pianos i have tried though (casio and yamaha)! So its really dependent on personal preference
Rafal M I canceled the order and had to drive 225 miles to and from to get a piano, and they didn’t have any KDP110’s. I just said “fuck it” and bought a CN27.
@@catatony2468 I went with YDP 164, incredible instrument. The GH3 key action is worth the upgrade over the 144. Kawai is good but Yamaha offers more features and a superior touch for my taste.
They are quite different. The AP-470 is more expensive and comes with more features, like bluetooth. But the KDP-110 is still a very good piano sound and feel for the money. Cheers - Murdoch
Wow… the Kawai piano sound is much better even on recording. How about the key feel? I have not played the YDP-144 but the 143 had light and hollow plastic keys while the Kawai has heavier robust keys. The hollow keys can make a percussive sound when played accidentally with part of the fingernail. That didn't seem to happen with the kawai.
Is the yamaha ydp 144 or s54 acceptable for an advanced classical piano player ? I’m searching for a really close to acoustic piano keyboard not above 1000 $ so that I can play next year in my tiny student studio in Paris. I cannot bring my real piano with me :(
You should rather aim in Kawai’s CA series. Recently I had a chance to play on CA49 and CA79. CA49 was ok in terms of sound and action. CA79 is a different level digital piano. Great action and great tone. Speakers could be a bit better though imo.
Bought a ydp 144 a week ago, and it seems sub-par to what I expected. I’m looking into trying a KDP 110. Hopefully it’ll be better, I have high hopes for it based on the reviews and sound.
The YDP-164 is probably more of what you're looking for, the GH3 action is much better plus ivory style keys and improved speakers. I got a great price off MSRP from my local store.
Can someone help me with information, I need to know if anyone has played or plays on a Casio PX-200? For me Yamaha sound better
Good review but I think you should tell which one you prefered (regarding key action mainly)

How do you feel about it, is it good for you :((( i would buy 144 too, can you give me advice :(((
I bought a Yamaha 164, it’s much better in sounds and keyboard. Anyhow, 144 is also good and affordable.

I chose the Kawai. Much more realistic sound and less 'electric' sounding. Keys also feel more realistic.
