When I first read the source material for this series, and given the general tone of it thus far at the time, when it actually went there with this whole deep real talk moment it genuinely surprised and impressed me.

In a lot of the otome games come to life stories whoever the MC is nice to starts to crush on them even if they weren't an "option" in the game. It's like since the world was based on pursuing romance then the whole world is based on pursuing romance. This is one of the few that suggests that might not be how this world works. But the story hasn't really committed to the idea unless the princes can pick up on that Rae is the wrong tree to be barking up and not have it take 100 chapters.
It gets really interesting really fast, too bad we won't get there in the anime since it's only 12 episodes.
The latest episode gave us a cool glimpse into how this world works vs the game. Not spoiling it, but what usually amounts to a 3 way choice between the princes ended up being slightly different.
One that comes to mind for me is Jaehee from Mystic Messenger. And she DOES have a route..it's just unfortunately not romantic.
If your parents and the schools won't teach you about this stuff, don't worry, anime's got your back

Claire never had any struggle considering her gynephilia because the androphilia to fill in for that. Accepting her gynephilic part of her is distressing the aristocratic part of her, so she doesn't. Technically, Claire was harassing Rae, and she responded by teasing Claire in an affectionate manner. The start of their relationship was always going to be messy, with Claire’s biases towards commoners, while Rae is actually very guarded when it comes to matters of her heart. She wants to love and be loved in return, but because she doesn’t believe she has a chance, she teases Miss Claire instead to keep her attention. Rae is like this because of all the hardships she has faced as a lesbian who has been really unlucky in love in her past life.
