My last visit to San Antonio was during St Patrick’s Day week (20 years ago this week). I thought it was so cool that they dyed the River green. I had a rental car and visited all the missions on the mission trail there. Very beautiful buildings and artifacts.

We been staying in rest areas for years. A Trooper once told me they would rather have us staying than to continue driving tired. They put those signs up to avoid legal problems if something happens.
It still breaks my heart knowing the catastrophe that Gulfport/Biloxi went through with Hurricane Katrina. Over half of the plantation homes that once lined Hwy 90 (Beach Avenue) are now gone. Not to mention half of the casinos on the Gulfport side and other businesses as well. I can remember parking my 18-wheeler on the seawall over night many times right next to the Grand Casino! As for Florida the longest, and, most boring part, imo, is from the Alabama/Florida line to I-75 South. The rest of the state I enjoyed very much every time I hauled a load there. Having grown up in san antonio, i read a book about san antonio, which said latter 1800s there about, they put a castle outfit on the alamo, and turned it into a mall. ...they were originally thinking about paving the san antonio river into a parking lot.

Hello Robert, glad you enjoyed the stay at my home away from home San Antonio, TX. As you mentioned you would like to spend more time on a return visit. I hope you have a meet and greet, maybe downtown for a beer or two. I did a trip to Key West in February and stayed at the same Mississippi Welcome Center, it was a nice stop except the semi truck parking was filled so they came to the RV area, idling their trucks etc. :-( There is also a free dump station which is handy! I also stopped at the same Florida Welcome Center outside of Pensacola with the Blue Angel static display. Thanks for sharing your adventures!
San Antonio is my home and you do need to revisit. So much still to see and do. I suggest the next time you're here, you visit either the Pearl Brewery or along Broadway St. Both with their own beauty and history.
Sorry that you seem disappointed in San Antonio. The Alamo is not huge as you might have hoped but it is authentic as it stands. San Antonio is a wonderful place and 300 years old this year! San Antonio welcomes you to return and enjoy your time here.

Hey Robert!! Great video once again! I don’t know how you do it! A cool suggestion: After each of your BIG trips, let’s say more than a 6 hour drive, can you maybe give us the stats of your drive? Example, gas mileage, cost of gas, and overall condition(how the vehicle is holding up and how you feel after a long trip) of your long ride in your vehicle? I know it’s just more work added on top but I’ve always been curious of these kind of stars a frequent traveler!

My last visit to San Antonio was during St Patrick’s Day week (20 years ago this week). I thought it was so cool that they dyed the River green. I had a rental car and visited all the missions on the mission trail there. Very beautiful buildings and artifacts.

We been staying in rest areas for years. A Trooper once told me they would rather have us staying than to continue driving tired. They put those signs up to avoid legal problems if something happens.

It still breaks my heart knowing the catastrophe that Gulfport/Biloxi went through with Hurricane Katrina. Over half of the plantation homes that once lined Hwy 90
(Beach Avenue) are now gone. Not to mention half of the casinos on the Gulfport side and other businesses as well. I can remember parking my 18-wheeler on the seawall over night many times right next to the Grand Casino! As for Florida the longest, and, most boring part, imo, is from the Alabama/Florida line to I-75 South. The rest of the state I enjoyed very much every time I hauled a load there.

Having grown up in san antonio, i read a book about san antonio, which said latter 1800s there about, they put a castle outfit on the alamo, and turned it into a mall. ...they were originally thinking about paving the san antonio river into a parking lot.

"they're not very welcoming" Well welcome to Texas! At least that was my experience in Canyon Texas the two times I went there... When we were in the Florida Panhandle I was thinking about driving up to Gulf Port. That beach looks real nice, but I am not sure I would like to sleep there... Might get a very big surprise late at night as someone in a car or truck isn't paying attention... Thanks for the video! I can't wait for your next trip!
To be fair this was an isolated event. Most people were very nice and welcoming. I definitely want to back to Gulfport, with better weather, see how the beach compares to Destin

Hello Robert, glad you enjoyed the stay at my home away from home San Antonio, TX. As you mentioned you would like to spend more time on a return visit. I hope you have a meet and greet, maybe downtown for a beer or two. I did a trip to Key West in February and stayed at the same Mississippi Welcome Center, it was a nice stop except the semi truck parking was filled so they came to the RV area, idling their trucks etc. :-( There is also a free dump station which is handy! I also stopped at the same Florida Welcome Center outside of Pensacola with the Blue Angel static display. Thanks for sharing your adventures!

San Antonio is my home and you do need to revisit. So much still to see and do. I suggest the next time you're here, you visit either the Pearl Brewery or along Broadway St. Both with their own beauty and history.

Example, gas mileage, cost of gas, and overall condition(how the vehicle is holding up and how you feel after a long trip) of your long ride in your vehicle?
I know it’s just more work added on top but I’ve always been curious of these kind of stars a frequent traveler!
