Hatchery Saddle Point at Lake Mead | Look what I caught!

  • Although the water level at Lake Mead continues to drop, there are still great spots to enjoy fishing from the bank. Hatchery Saddle Point is one of these spots. This was my recent trip in July where I fished for 3 and half hours. I was able to catch several species of fish in a relatively short period of time.

      Since the water level was so low from the last time I fished here, I wasn’t expecting too much but this spot was great. I will definitely be back again.

    Can you recommend a good spot for Striper/cat fish this weekend 5-13-2023 please and thank you.😊

      Hatchery Saddle Point was pretty good last weekend for catfish. If you can get across the peninsula (chest deep) there should be some stripers too. Although I haven’t gone recently, Government Wash should be good with the higher water level. Also heard the fishing pier at Hemenway is back so that might be another option if you can get there early in the AM. I’ll probably go out to one of those locations on Friday or Saturday morning. Hope this helps, good luck this weekend!

    While waiting for a catfish I put corn on a hook with 12 lbs test. Some big carp in Havasu.

      I sure believe so. You definitely don’t need a 4wd there. I’ve gone there several times with my small car without any problems. However, there are a few spots with soft sand. So, if you’re not comfortable, there are several parking spots that are pretty close to the fishing spots too. Better to be safe than sorry. Walking on the road way a few times always helps. Once you’re familiar with the location you can then park closer to the fishing spot. Hope this helps.

      Thanks for watching my video. I love Hatchery Saddle Point as you can park relatively close to the fishing spot without having to hike. There is a video I posted a month ago called Bank Fishing Bait Challenge where I show exactly where I park and that a 4WD is not needed. Bank fishing is very limited at Lake Mead especially since the water level dropped but Saddle Point has been great. I went back there again last week and was able to catch a few larger stripers (Video to come soon). I hope this helps.

      I don’t believe there is a sign but coming from the Boulder City entrance, there will be a turning lane to Saddle Cove Road. If you reach the Fish Hatchery, you’ve gone too far. If you use Google Maps, Hatchery Saddle point should come up and take you all the way. Not sure why it doesn’t come up in Apple Maps.

    Hey great video! Can't remember if I asked on your last video, when you went to the different spots for fishing. Can you help me navigate how to get to this spot? I'm thinking of taking my son's because we haven't been to like me together in a while and this looks like the perfect place.

      Take the Lakeshore Rd and turn onto Ducks Cove Rd.

      I almost forgot to ask about the type of vehicle I need to drive this area. I drive a sedan right now do you think that'll work well heading to this particular location?

    • @Phenriques
      @Phenriques 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BlueHandFishing sedan will be fine. I wouldn’t go to the edge of the point but you can get pretty close. I don’t have a 4 wheel drive as well but no problem here.

    Nice video. Any signs of the striper boils? I'm from Cali, wanting to make that trip for some top water action.

      Didn’t see any boils when I filmed this episode but I’ve seen boils by Hemenway harbor a lot.
